“Favorite Spot to Picnic and More!”

This southeast Georgia park is a favorite for picnicking, family reunions and golf. Picnic tables and shelters surround a small lake where visitors can rent pedal boats and fishing boats during warmer months. Docks are available for anglers, and children will enjoy looking for beaver dams from the observation deck. Five rental cottages face the golf course, all with screened porches, fireplaces and televisions. Gordonia-Alatamaha’s unusual name comes from the rare Gordonia tree – a member of the bay family that once grew in the park – and the original spelling of the nearby Altamaha River.   The park’s Brazell’s Creek Golf Course offers a pro shop and junior/senior discounts.  The course was expanded to18-holes a few years ago, making it a challenging yet fun test of golf. The Par 71 layout plays to just under 7,000 yards from the tips, boasting five sets of tees. The signature 15th hole is a 207-yard Par 3, which plays over scenic wetlands to a large island green. A 1,500-yard winding bridge connects the original holes with the back nine.

Small state park for for an overnight or 2. There are 27 RV/tent sights. Just a couple pull throughs with full hookups. Dump station on site. Gravel sites on/near a lake. Short nature trail walk. Bathhouse and laundry on site but did not use. Campground host super nice.

This state park campground is unlike any I have stayed at in the past in that it lacked that "away from it all" feel. For one thing you can hear traffic noise all around. For another, it is quite small - you can literally walk from one end to the other in about 30 minutes. My site was near the pond, which was very nice. But there appears to be no public path to the pond so you sort of end up having to go through a camp site to get to the pond. Luckily, there were several empty sites so I never felt like I was trespassing. There is a one mile nature hike that is nothing to write home about. Other than that not much for hikers to do. There are boats and paddleboards available for rent during season. Lastly, I never saw the camp host but I did see several flags hanging from the trailer. One of the flags was a confederate flag. Given this is a state park I was surprised to see that. I know the park is in Georgia but this is 2019 and some folks take that flag as a symbol that they are not very welcomed.

We stayed in late December 2019 and had a very good 2 nights here. It was very quiet at night, despite being at least 80% full of campers. We originally had booked site 5 on Reserve America, not realizing it was a shared site and somewhat unlevel. The front desk was very accommodating and switched us to site 22, which was water-facing, quite level, and had full hookups. It was right next to a common picnic shelter, but no one used it during our stay.

We didn't use the bathhouse, but the laundry area was very clean and well-kept. Access to this park was very easy and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend it if you're in the area or passing through.

This is a small campground, with less than 30 sites. It is very nice, close to town, but you feel like you are out. You are definitely not disconnected though as unfortunately cell service was plentiful (I prefer no service when camping, that is the point for me). The sites are newly renovated but the GA State Park is not updated yet. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to see that there was both 30 and 50amp hook-ups, and not only did the sites have water, but they also had sewer! This was amazing to have full hook-ups here (which I was glad because I don't think I could have made it through the dump station area). There is the small lake there and some great sites if you wanted to group camp. Our experience was slightly unpleasant, but it wasn' the parks fault, the people next to us just wanted to be snooty. They were apparently upset that we were having a campfire everyday because they couldn't keep their door to their camper open because of the smoke. The nerve of us to have a camp fire, while camping! I had to laugh, the one day when the lady asked if we were having a fire all day (we needed to have plenty of coals for dinner that night we were cooking in the coals). She said well, so much for a weekend, I guess our weekend is just ruined then. I still don't understand their issue, you are camping for pete's sake! Some sites are a little tighter together than others. The only real complaint with our site was the fire-pit seemed to be an after thought. They did a great job renovating and the site was almost perfectly level, but the fire pit was on an angle, and you could only sit on one site of it. Luckily we had gravity chairs so sitting on the hill wasn't bad, but any other chair would have been undoable. Also the grill grate on the firepit was on the site you would have to sit on, so it blocked the fire some. Overall, decent place, would definitely stay again, and we have plans for a group campout with several of the sites that would be perfect for this, once we are able to be in groups again......

It is located right in Reidsville with easy access. There is a small lake with boat rentals and a golf course. It is very clean, we wish we could have stayed longer.

This park has been the perfect place to spend several days! Cleanest bathrooms of anywhere I’ve stayed. Beautiful lake - even saw a gator. Didn’t catch any fish, maybe the gator ate them all. Haha
Very friendly staff. Gorgeous golf course!
Located in a small town with all the amenities you may need- groceries, fuel, hardware, automotive and DQ next to the main entrance. Lol
Sites are level, mostly gravel. Full hook ups. Several sites have beautiful views of the lake. Splash pad, playground, pavilions to rent, kayaks and golf.
Love this place- can’t wait to return!

We stayed at a pull through sites with full hook ups. We were moving, so we had an extra truck with a car trailer full
Of stuff and they let us add it and both fit in the site. It was very big. This is a small park with 30 sites and two entrances/exits. Also has cottages and a golf course. Small lake with boat rentals and a cute splash pad for kids. Close to a cute town. Would have given five stars, but saw more trash around than there should be. People suck

This was a fantastic state park! The camp host was nice and pointed us in the right direction to our site because it wasn't all that obvious by looking at the map in the brochure. The park wasn't crowded at all and the folks who were there were all so nice and no obnoxious noise or other activities. There was a grocery store and gas station right outside the park so we could fill up and stock up before we moved onto our next state park. We also had great cell/internet, and with full hookups and a lakeside view, I would definitely return!

We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas, 2021 in site #17. Watch your step in 17, as it has steps going down to the picnic table & fire ring. I average our nightly rate including any reservation fees / taxes / discounts. I think the best sites are 1, 21, 22, 23 & 24 if you want lake views. Buddy sites are 4 & 5 and 13 & 14. We had full hook ups, long enough to not have to un-hook (although we did for shopping and a day trip to Savannah). Nice walking areas for dog, laundry facility, didn't check out the restrooms, a trail (most of it was closed) and awesome day use area. Am including a video on the campground.
