Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on September 09, 2023Pretty good local government run campground. There are no campgrounds on the famous Presque Isle peninsula so this is about as close as you can get. Very good facilities. Great laundromat ($2/$2). Easy walk to a long pier where you can watch boats and birds and fisherpeople. We caught a $7 Lyft down to Dobbins Landing where there is all kinds of touristy stuff. A tower, restaurants, boat tours, the Maritime Museum, even a water taxi out to Presque Isle (only on weekends).
The campground is located in an industrial area right beside the harbor entrance so it is definitely not quiet. Not horribly noisy but you might find yourself wearing your earplugs.
Flat paved campsites, not too cramped.

A real gem for us. large level asphalt sites. Water & 50amp. Dump station on premise. Nice bathrooms & showers. Easy bike ride into downtown Erie to explore. No playground or pool onsite, but a short drive out to presque isle for one of the nicest and largest beaches on the northcoast.
The grounds are well maintained. Grass and asphalt, so not much mud. Picnic table and fire ring. Camp ground appears on the newer side, You are camping at a marina, so you have a lot of room to walk around the marina and lake if you choose.
You go through an industrial port to get here, but once here you don't really notice. We noticed a little industrial noise, but nothing loud.
We hope to be back after covid 19 is over so we can do more.

This campground has a lot going for it: well maintained, clean bathhouse, many sites right on the water, friendly manager, good cell reception, and close to heart of Erie. Also right by Presque Isle State Park where one can walk along the water for miles on a paved path. There is a fair amount of "noise". By this I mean, trains, tug boats, fog horns, planes and maybe some road noise. But never too intrusive. There is little privacy between sites but they are well spaced. The sites themselves are nearly level. My one tiny knock on the place is that you have to walk through a grassy area to get to the bathroom. They should install a path so that on rainy days the grass doesn't get worn down and one's feet stay a little drier. I was there right at the end of September and as my second night was on October 1, the rate dropped to $25.

CLEAN, very well maintained, roomy site. We were here mid-May, Sun-Thurs, hence 1/2 full. Nice bath/shower building. Hosts Bill and Dee outstanding. The campground looks like it’s next to the Lake, but there is a chain link fence separation. Enough natural growth that attracts lot of birds and singing. I imagine in another 4 weeks there might be mosquitoes so I would choose a site away from that edge. Boat and traffic noise so minimal, not a concern for us. You can bike to Presque Isle but it’s about 5 miles, although a beautiful ride. We chose to drive to the park with our bikes. Beautiful park.

When we arrived we were greeted right away and check in was simple. The sites at this campground are fairly large and each has a nice picnic table, fire ring, electric and water.
Some sites backed up right to the lake but the lake is fenced off. We managed to score one of those for next year.
Presque isle is a short drive from the campground and the beaches there are beautiful!

Good find exactly where we needed it along our route. Camp hosts super friendly and helpful. Site 14 had brutal sun in evening and morning both, but totally private on back side. We were able to walk around Lake Erie shoreline, see boats. Did our wash in very clean laundry room in the bathhouse, and showers were also very clean. A bit crowded, and no wifi, but a well run spot.

Stayed here in May 2022. Campground spotlessly clean with nice level sites. Was rainy and cold when we stayed so it was freezing with a breeze coming off the water. But campground itself was great and would stay again

Upon our arrival to the park we were unsure of where to go. No signage of how to get into the park. We could see other rigs on the other side of a fence but more signage would have helped. Once we were in the park we found the office and checked in. All sites are back in and there are no sewer hook ups, just fyi. Each site is black top and level and comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Our site was 27 and was right next to the restroom/shower and laundry room (they are all clean and well kept. Washers were $2 as were the dryers. I don’t know how long the dryers ran for, though.) This park is extremely quiet while we were there, except for some loud music coming from a parking lot adjacent to the park. It did stop early enough so as not to impede on our sleep. This park is adjacent to a marina, hence the name! Hehe! It was not busy during our stay. The water is walking distance from the park and we enjoyed a nice bike ride the first day. First and second day we drove over to Presque Isle and walked the lakeshore looking for sea glass. We also had dinner at Sara’s Diner. We paid $37 a night. We drive a F250 and pull a 36ft fifth wheel.

Highly recommend Lampe Campground. Sites are spread out, not over crowded since it’s fairly small campground. Level sites and everyone was respectful and quiet. Very clean bathrooms and showers. Stayed for 5 nights. No regrets. We did laundry $2.00 for wash, $2.25 for dryer only quarters. There is no change machine. Facilities take pride in keeping the grounds clean.
