Our visit to this park was totally unexpected! Our tow vehicle died halfway between Schulenburge and La Grange. A two truck pulled us into town and dropped our trailer at this great little park then dropped our truck off at the local Ford dealer.
We were plesently suprised by how friendly everyone was and especially happy about how well run the park is.
Public showers with lots of hot water and super clean laundry facilities were a wonderful extra in our frustrating time.

Big Bend is beautiful, wild and very remote. If you need to have connections for your RV then this is the only place for you! The "sites" are far from glamorous and certainly not private. This is really nothing more than a parking lot with connections.
There is WiFi at the store as well as pay showers and a laundry. I have posted a vidblog on my YT. It can be found here under the Blogs tab.

We spent 2 weeks traveling out to NC and back, visited 7 different campgrounds and this one is in the top three! plenty of space, new roads, a splash pad and best of all paved paths that are ADA friendly! I have posted videos about my visit under the blog tab.

I spent two night camping here. I had high hopes for fun and adventure but ended up with disappointment.
The main issue that I have with this park is the fact that it is so hard to get to the water. The only place where I could have easy access to the water was at the boat ramp or the many floating boat docks and fishing was not allowed in most of those locations. getting down to the swimming area was a real hike and there was quite a crowd in the little cove.
Site 22 does have a trail that goes down to the water but for me it was very difficult to navigate.
I have posted my video tours of Eisenhower State Park in the blog section.

We spent 2 nights camping in site A3. This is a handicap site. Very wide and level concrete pad. I rely on a mobility scooter to get around and found Elkmont to be a great place to visit thanks to the paved trail that follow the Little River. Our visit was in peak season so the campground was very busy, but it did not feel over crowded. I have posted a video of our visit under the blogs tab.

On our Nov 2017 RV trip we paid a visit to The Lost Maples State Natural Area. This is truly a unique place in the great state of Texas! Home of the Big Tooth Maple trees makes this a great park to visit in the fall when the trees are changing colors. Unfortunately our visit to Lost Maples State Park was highlighted by a gloomy overcast sky, chill winds and fog. This made for a fairly short visit to the Lost Maples State Natural area.

In November of 2017 we spent one day camped at San Angelo State Park. This huge Texas State Park is built on the banks of the O.C. Fisher Reservoir and the Concho River, near San Angelo. At the time of our visit the lake was so low access to the water was almost impossible! While camping at San Angelo State Park we had the opportunity to check out the Texas state Longhorn herd and the resident Bison herd as well. Our campsite at San Angelo State Park was the most spacious of any that we have ever camped in in a Texas State Park.
This Park is huge! there are miles of paved road surfaces and plenty of hiking trails to keep you busy.
The staff was very friendly and the facilities were very clean. If your travels have you camping around San Angelo Texas This just might be the ideal stop over for you. Check out the blog posts for more great info.

On our Nov 2017 RV trip to Big Bend we paid a brief visit to the very unique Seminole Canyon State Park. This is one very unique State Park! Located in the heart of the desert just a few miles from the Rio Grand River this park features rock art that is well over 10K years old. Touring the Fate Bell Shelter is a bit of a hike but well worth the effort. Our visit to Seminole Canyon State Park was highlighted by beautiful weather on the day of our hike down to the Fate Bell Shelter. Join us on our visit to Seminole Canyon State Park.

In November of 2017 we traveled down to Big bend National Park and back. On our way back north we drove from Big Bend up Hwy 118 and into the Davis Mountains where we spent a few days camping at Davis Mountains State Park.
Davis Mountains State Park is now one of my top five favorite Texas State Parks! What a beautiful place! Stunning vista, wildlife and best of all peace and quiet! While shopping in Fort Davis we stopped by the Fort Davis National Historic Site, bought some sinfully delightful pecans and ran into more rattlesnakes than I ever want to see again!
We camped in two different sites the first was site 41 the second, site #1 that is a handicapped site. fully outfitted for wheelchair access and quite close to the showers and the WiFi antenna.
Dont even think about using your cell phone here, we had three different carries with us and had no access.

We had the pleasure of spending one great night at this campground and wish it was more! The shower facilities were very clean and updated. Our visit was on July 1 and the temp at night was in the upper 50s! So Nice!
The one thing we were worried about was bears, every park host and ranger we spoke with told us to be careful about the bears and out rat terriers were freaking out the whole time we were there.
