We spent two nights and 3 days camped at Mother Neff SP. This is the first Texas State Park and has a lot of history. Thanks to the recent remodel of the main gate and camping loop this is now a terrific place to spend a couple of days hiking and relaxing.
A flood pretty well destroyed the river bottom day use area and this has yet to be rebuilt. A lot of attention has been placed on the works done by the CCC and the historical implications this organization had on the Texas State Parks system.
We will be returning to Mother Neff SP in the fall and are looking forward to seeing the fall foliage.

This is a nice little Texas State Park with a beautiful little spring fed lake as the center piece. It is a great park for family camping. The main draw back is the limestone mining opperation on the SW side of the park. When the wind is blowing from that direction, moswt of the summer, there is a dust cloud that blow across the park. If you have breathing issues this could be very bad. Other than that, the park is great!

Lake Whitney State Park is always fun. I have been camping here since I was a small child and have many fond memories of this park. The campsites are a bit dated but all are very functional. The fishing is most always great here!
The day use area has an excellent beach for swimming. We always see see lots of deer and other wildlife while visiting.
Supplies are only about 5 miles away if you forget something!

We camp at McKinney Falls State Park several times a year. The wife often has business functions in the Austin area and this park is in the perfect location! It is a short 20 min drive to downtown Austin yet you feel like you are way out in a very remote location!
We always select a site in the Cedar Sage loop as these are all 50 amp.
The facilities have always clean and well maintained.
There are a couple of swimming holes on Onion Creek that are perfect for a cool dip on a hot afternoon. A paved hiking trail circles the park and is ideal for an evening stroll through the woods.
The bad points, very rough roads and the ever present city noise.
I have posted several videos of this wonderful park on my YouTube Channel and they can be seen here...

We spent 2 nights camping in site A3. This is a handicap site. Very wide and level concrete pad. I rely on a mobility scooter to get around and found Elkmont to be a great place to visit thanks to the paved trail that follow the Little River. Our visit was in peak season so the campground was very busy, but it did not feel over crowded. I have posted a video of our visit under the blogs tab.
