Location is nice, there is zero privacy with the neighbors. The site was clean the neighbor had parked a guest car in our site before we arrived and had to get it moved.

The showers were clean, not all of the shower rooms had hot water for some reason. They were private.

As noted there is a factory a crossed the road and it is loud 24 hours a day.

I wanted to really love this experience. Just not sure I can.

Arrival was painless, the site was clean and had been prepped for us. Water and power were both good. The shower house bathroom was always clean and stock, the shower had plenty of hot water and was clean.

The issues that make me unsure if it is a good experience or not.

the other campers......wow so inconsiderate of other guest. Loud music, unsupervised kids, Huge mounds of trash.

Trash can was set on fire a couple of time because people were dumping their fire pit into it.

The golf carts, the endless parade of golf carts going round and round.

the campsites with half a dozen tents and 30 campers with associated kids, bikes cars, toys

The pool, tough to relax with 20 kids playing tag in the entire pool area, not to mention jumping and playing in the hot tub.

The Food, we ordered some ribs and fried chicken only to wake up with food poisoning, so we were violently ill for a day and a half.

The site was nice, the campground was well maintained as was the pool and walkways.

Then the value for dollars paid. Really hard to justify spending $150 per night for a water and electric only site. Just not worth it.

Kind of an odd place. We camped here on a friday night and it sounded like there was a race track nearby. Not sure what the deal was, but cars doing burn outs and racing around on nearby roads kept us awake.

The campground was well kept and clean. the bathrooms were on par with other national park campgrounds with warm showers and were clean. as others have noted, AC power only at the campsite and potable water and dump are located in the campground.

Had a fantastic stay our first 5 nights. The beach is a very short walk and was not crowded despite the campground being full.

The campsite was not very level and was a sand surface. You can see your neighbors on both sides, but cannot hear them, Not the most private but it is fine. Over the air tv we received 52 channels with our over the air antenna and booster. Water and power connections were good and no issues, no sewer hook ups. good verizon signal

The Bathrooms were clean and well stocked but had signs of vandalism, shame folks need to carve their initials in everything. The showers had plenty of hot water and good water pressure.......The cleanliness was based on who was in front of you....While rinsing showers are provided at the beach entry and exit it seems that some would use the shower house to clean the sand off, the worst evening the shower stall had a very even coating of sand probably 1/8 inch deep. There are only 4 individual shower stalls and frequently families would dominate them and not encourage their kids to be quick when there was 5 or 6 people waiting. not a state park problem but a camper manners issue.

There was a very high Ranger and police presence, alarmingly high, we also received a anti crime flyer at check in. When I asked if there was an issue with theft or crime I got a song and dance at the check in desk. We didnt have any issues but I have never seen this level of law enforcement patrols.

Fishing was terrible, you are required to have a salt water license which was $10 for 10 days. averaged 1 whiting per day and never caught a legal flounder. The beach was great for swimming and sun bathing.

One huge thing to note, it is between two military bases, which means you will hear gun fire occasionally, not loud, and there is a lot of helicopter activity over the state park. some early in the evening. I enjoyed watching the activity so not a complaint from me.

Our last night had a family with a large class c, They were very loud up to quiet hours, not sure what their deal was but they refused to use the bathroom in the campground or their rv, and they kept peeing on the tree beside our water hookup, 5 adult men.....glad we were out early in the morning. I let the ranger know as we pulled out.

I would not reserve a campsite on the perimeter of the park, on the one end you are looking at a chain link fence with a concrete wall behind it and on the south side you are up against a 4 lane highway with harleys and sport bikes all night.

No contact arrival, just go to your assigned campsite from your email, your parking pass is affixed to your power pedestal.

Glad to see they separate and enforce the pet free camp area. The family a crossed the road from us were asked to leave the non pet area for brining a dog. It was really nice camping with out the sound of barking yipping dogs all day.

This is an alcohol free camp, I had heard of employees doing cooler and cup checks looking for beer or wine. With that said, we never had an issue, but we were not howling at the moon either.

The campsite was great, shaded most of the day and backed up to the sound side and a short 20 yard walk a crossed a mowed grass area to the water. Just far enough from the neighbors, but you can see and hear them. The surface was hard packed sand and clear of debris on our arrival.

Power and water quality was good and no issues with either. There is a heavy raccoon population, just be aware.

The shower house was clean and the water pressure was good with plenty of hot water. The restroom side could have used a could of more stools as I found the three to be occupied ever time I went to use them. If

They did not seem to enforce limits on per campsite occupancy as one of our neighbors had 4 tents and guessing 10 people on the site. They did not bother us so it wasnt a big deal.

If I had a complaint it would be they need to close the gate and only allow campers into the campground, there seemed to be a high number of drive through tourist types

Keep in mind this is very remote and keep an eye on the weather as the north end of the island can be over washed by the ocean leaving you trapped. We were stuck for 5 days.

No power, water or sewer. Dump station and potable water is a crossed the street.

Chose your campsite wisely as probably 1/3 of campground was under water. Most of the west side of a and b inner loop was flooded while we were there.

There is zero shade and very little protection from the wind.

The kicker here is the ferry crossing so account for that in your budget, my wife and I, truck and trailer were $112 round trip.

Once arriving the campground is fully shaded and in a mildly hilly location. The sites are reasonably spaced and the AC power is good, there are a limited number of full hookups. potable water is near the shower houses.

The shower house is good, private showers and you could adjust the temp of the shower, very low flow. There is only 5 private shower rooms per shower house, so on weekend mornings there tended to be a couple of people waiting.

The campground was very quiet during the week, on the weekend however it was fairly loud.

The campsites were not very level so be prepared with some extra leveling blocks. There is only one dump station at the exit to the campground by the fish cleaning house. it is a fairly tight circular driveway.

What a nice surprise, Guess it is far enough from the large metro areas that it is too far for a weekend trip. Very quiet and clean. No hordes of kids on bikes, no loud music, really nice.

The site was on an asphalt pad with reasonable spacing between the campsites. Not gonna say private, but you couldnt hear your neighbors conversation. Sites are probably too small for big fifth wheels as my truck and trailer fit comfortably but I am in a teardrop.

Bath rooms were clean and well stocked. Shower had plenty of warm water, pressure was an issue but probably from a flow restrictor.

No cell coverage, occasionally I would get a batch of text messages but nothing reliable.

Our site was shaded and quiet during the week. On the weekend the golf cart crew arrived and the tweenagers spent the rest of the weekend going round and round on the camp road.

The shower house was clean, shower stalls were a bit small, the water was warm.

Glad we opted for the popup tent area as the rv side was packed. There is zero rules enforced, there are multiple vehicles in the site with the camper and often times a boat. There is zero space between the trailers and with the extra vehicles boats, tents bikes there is very little space left. The roads are often blocked.

There is a parking lot for boat and excess vehicles.

Our site was not very level, too all of our leveling blocks to get it level front to back. we did not have power or water hook ups so I cannot review those.

The shower house was clean and water was warm, it had an ultra low flow shower head on it so that was bad. The restrooms were clean and fairly old but in good working order.

The dump station was a disaster on sunday morning. Rude campers, one guy in a class a flushed his tanks for nearly an hour, while there was a line 20 deep waiting. we waited in line and dumped and he was still flushing his tanks.
