“Where the Virginia Company Landed”
First Landing State Park is located on Cape Henry in North Virginia Beach. This 2,888 acre park offers a wide range of activities for visitors. You can go swimming, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, or enjoy a picnic when you visit First Landing. Regardless of how long you can stay, for a few hours or for a full day, you can have a nice time visiting the park. You can also stay in the park overnight, at a campsite or in one of in one of the park's cabins. By planning an overnight stay you can escape the busier pace of the more heavily developed areas of Virginia Beach yet still remain in close proximity to all that the local area has to offer. Admission to the park is $4 per vehicle on weekdays and $5 on weekends. The grounds and trails are open daily, from 8am until dusk, to day visitors .
A good family campground, but not as secluded from the lights of the street and parking lots. Nice bathrooms and showers and someone working the front entrance into the night for late arrivals. Good if you're going to the beach and exploring Virginia Beach, not great if you're looking for a true camping experience.
The water is calmer here and there are far less people. We loved taking our young children here.
We love the hiking trails here! The trails go through different habitats including the beach, dunes, wooded areas, and wetlands. The beaches here are more relaxing and the waters are calm, making it a great place to bring the kids.
We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Virginia Beach!
