“the only campground in Walt Disney World”

Most people might not realize that in the 750 acres of pine forest just between Epcot and Magic Kingdom hides Disney's Fort Wilderness, one of the most awesome RV parks in America! Remember how much fun you had going to camp? Well, Fort Wilderness is basically that… but better. There’s arts and crafts for the kids all day long, well-stocked fishing holes, movies under the stars, campfire singalongs, and even fireworks every single night. But this place has one thing that your camp didn’t: wilderness tours…on an all-terrain segway. You can hop on one of these futuristic vehicles and buzz through the woods on a two hour guided tour of the Wilderness lodge, the Tri-Circle-D ranch, and Bay Lake, where you’ll hear trivia about the park and get up close to the local wildlife. It’s kind of like having Robocop as your camp counselor. But, you know, friendlier. The best part about Fort Wilderness, though? When you’ve filled up on s’mores and told your last ghost story by the campfire, all you’ve gotta do is hop on a boat and you’re headed just across the lake to the Magic Kingdom!  The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort provide an idyllic setting for a family vacation. Nestled on 750 wooded acres of lush pine and cypress trees, the cabins provide all the comforts of home wrapped in a rustic, American Frontier theme. Time seems to slow down while you wander the quiet trails, and roaming ducks, deer and rabbits add to the sense that you are far away from the bustle of modern civilization. Location This Resort is located within the Magic Kingdom Area. Guests may also take advantage of the shuttle bus service to the famous Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Downtown Disney Area. Rooms The comfortable accommodation units all come with an ensuite bathroom with bathtub, shower and hairdryer. Further equipment includes a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, an Internet connection, an in-room wall safe and a radio. Each of the spacious cabins offers a fully equipped kitchen, a terrace and air conditioning and heating are both individually controlled. The bedroom has a full bed and a bunk bed, and the living area has a pull-down bed. Sport You'll find lots to do within the Resort's spacious grounds. Seasonally, be sure to catch Mickey's Backyard BBQ Character Dining at the Fort Wilderness Pavilion. Explore the \backcountry\ aboard a Segway personal transporter or stroll over to the Tri-Circle-D Ranch for carriage, wagon or horseback rides, or for younger Guests, pony rides. Nearby are Trail's End Restaurant and Crockett's Tavern and the very popular Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show. For fun on the water, the marina at Bay Lake rents SeaRaycers, pontoon boats and other watercraft, and offers catch-and-release fishing expeditions. Meadow Recreation Area's outdoor theater is home to the nightly Chip 'n' Dale \Sing-a-Long\ and marshmallow roast, followed by a screening of a classic Disney movie. Other diversions abound as well: trails, tennis, volleyball, swimming, horseshoes, shuffleboard and archery you can even rent bicycles at the Bike Barn. Grab essentials at the Resort's trading posts or a bite to eat at the deli. Meals Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Payment American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and VISA are accepted as methods of payment. Notes Disney's Magical Express offer free airport shuttle (Orlando International Airport), luggage delivery and airline check-in (for most airlines) for guests staying at a Disney resort. First time camping at Disney, and it was amazing.
Showers/Bathrooms very clean.
Stayed in the 400 loop, close to the marina to catch the boat to Magic Kingdom, or watch the MK fireworks from the beach.
Loved how we could use our parking pass to park for free at the all the other parks.
Had a wonderful time!

We spent a week in the 200 loop at Disney’s Fort Wilderness campground. This was considered a “preferred” site and priced accordingly – although I’m not clear exactly what features are used to categorize sites as premium, preferred and regular. We were within walking distance of the Settlement and marina. First off the campground is HUGE and you will need to use the internal bus system to access transportation to the Disney parks at either the Settlement or Outpost.

In typical Disney fashion, there is lots to do here – swimming pools, playgrounds, restaurants and events, although many options – fishing, carriage rides, horseback riding are pricey.

The sites are large enough to accommodate any sized rig and our loop had some vegetation between sites for privacy. The pad is concrete with a sandy patio area in the rear. Our 50amp didn’t work and although we reported it our first night, it was never fixed. Luckily the weather was mild enough that 30 amp was fine.

The biggest knock on the campground, at least where we were located, was the noise. I swear the loud speakers (emphasis on LOUD) for the nightly electrical watercraft parade were right above our site! Forget trying to get to sleep early, as late as 10:45 a horrible synthesized Disney mashup would begin and last for 10-15 minutes. We could hear the banjo music from the Settlement and the boat horns started every morning at 6:45am and lasted well into the night. While proximity to the marina was nice, I don’t think it was worth the aggravation of the noise. The irony is I specifically requested a quiet spot when making our reservation. Lol.

We had 3 bars of 4G unboosted and there is free WiFi that worked fairly well.

When you want to "do Disney" with the full experience and all you hear are raving reviews about Fort Wilderness from both occasional campers and fulltime RV'ers...you save up and make it your kids Christmas present! We were expecting a great time and this surpassed our expectations in every way. Crazy expensive nightly rate, but with it came free transportation and parking at the parks and everywhere Disney (so consider that when looking at the price). This park is amazing at Christmas, absolutely amazing to see local Floridians come and park here for weeks and dress up their rigs like they are right on Candy Cane Lane. You can read my full review on our blog. We were in the 1100 loop and it was great. Take bikes, this place is massive. Love how private and wide our site was with beautiful, mature foliage on all three sides.

We stayed here and enjoyed the Fort Wilderness and all that Disney has to offer. Check in was easy and we received Magic Bands to use at the store and to access places around the park (had we purchased theme park tickets those would have been loaded on the bands too!). NOTE: we left our bands at the camper the first day as we were touring in Universal all day and didn't want to lose them, however you need at least one band to re-enter the campground quickly. No big deal we just called the attendant and showed an ID, but we made sure to bring a band on the other days we left the campground) There were great trails and places to explore/walk/jog. We loved the Hoop de Doo Revue and the food was amazing. The sites were pristine, ice and laundry were available at the showers. The Trading Posts had everything you might need to throw together a quick dinner or to help with things you might have forgotten at home. We didn't use the cable hook-up as our coaxial cable was too short (we could have purchased a longer one if we had wanted). We saw flocks of wild turkeys most mornings.

Disney... experience like no other! The good things are the service, beautiful large sites, bus and boat service to the parks, and fireworks on the beach! There are no fire pits at the sites - just a community gathering for Chip and Dale's campfires in the evenings. Also, if you have pets the park is pet friendly, but you could be in for a long walk to the dog park depending on which circle you are on.

Wide and Deep concrete pad. 50 amp service and cable. Outstanding bus service transportation or you can rent a golf cart on a daily basis. Every aspect of Fort Wilderness is well run. Many campers return time and again.

This is a park that looks like a state or national park, with reasonably large spots in a heavily wooded forest. Some of the spots will make you feel like you are all alone. But, like much of Disney, if you look too closely, the facade breaks down.

Despite the feeling of being in the wilderness, the noise levels are what you would expect for Disney. People let their kids run unchecked, making noise all hours of the day and night. It was common for people to just cross through our spot while we were sitting there, as if we were invisible.

Also, people would let their dogs bark all day and night. Many people appeared to have tied their dog to a tree while they went to the parks, and the dogs would bark at anything that moved -- and apparently the owners stayed until the park closed and didn't get back until after 11:00pm.

The pool is large but always overrun with kids, basically leaving no room to swim or even wade around without getting bumped or shoved.

A cool thing about this campground is that they have a campfire and movies every night, with an appearance by Chip and Dale. Also, they have trail rides.

The horn of the train from Magic Kingdom is a constant reminder of where you are. The fireworks and music shows at night also remind you of where you are -- very loud. So while the location is great if you are spending all day at Disney, the camping aspect of it is second-rate.

For this price, I want a much better camping experience.

Nuts and bolts of the Disney thing: If you want are going to Hoop-de-doo Musical Review, this is the most convenient place to stay, you can walk or catch a bus. If you are going to the other parks and want to use Disney transit, you will need to leave an hour of transit time. First, you have to catch the internal bus to get you to one end of the park or the other. Then you catch the boat by the lake (for Magic Kingdom) or the bus up front (for the other three parks). On average, our transit time from door to door was just over an hour, which meant getting up by 6:30 or so for an 8:00 park opening.

We stayed here so our daughter and us could visit the Disney theme parks. It was a no-brainer to stay here when we looked at all of the options due to WDW transportation system. We have stayed at the Contemporary Resort (before our RVing days) before and knew the importance of onsite transit. The check-in process was a little slow but very thorough. Our site was long, wide, level and concrete. We had a good distance between neighbors and it was quiet. From the campground, you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom, Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness Lodge. Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary was a very fun breakfast. We did the Once Upon a Time dinner at Cinderellas Castle and that was great for our daughter. We hung out at the Fort Wilderness pools and they were amazing with lifeguards everywhere. They also had a small food counter that served drinks. Lastly, the Mickey’s Backyard BBQ is a must if you have the time. Also, pay the little extra to get the better seats. They let you in before everyone else to take pictures with the characters. It was well worth the extra $10 per ticket. Oh, also, they topped off one of my propane tanks with 2 gallons at no charge.
