Location - It's super easy off the highway, just two turns and you are there. The neighborhood surrounding that park is nice and it feels super safe. This is amazing for those that are solo traveling like myself! It's also just far enough away from the highway (I-57) that you don't hear noise.

Sites - They are all gravel(ish) sites that were level at the time I camped there and they have cute little patios on each site! I mean, seriously, cute!

Connectivity - They have great WiFi, but since I use my cellular there was plenty of coverage on AT&T and Verizon.

I don't know what else to say except I hope this model catches on as it's just perfect for those of us that are travelers with our rigs and need solid overnight spots to get a good nights sleep between big hauls. This place is cute enough to spend a day or two at as well.

What it is not -
* It's not a campground campground - I wouldn't recommend bringing the kids for the weekend. Maybe an overnight shakedown or two day shakedown with this kids this would be alright!
* It doesn't have a shower house or laundry, it has bathrooms though.
* It's not a place out in the country, it's basically a super-nice parking lot for overnights and short stays.

Let me start by saying that, make no mistake, this is an RV Park. On the plus side, it's not a concrete slab-pit of a park, it's a cute RV campground.

I had a change of plans that put me in the area for a family reunion at the last minute so I emailed a few places to see if there was availability. Doug, one of the owners, responded very promptly that they actually had one space. I called and spoke with Kelli (his wife and other owner) and locked in the spot.

When I arrived both Doug and Kelli were in the office and they are an AMAZINGLY wonderful couple and friendly RV park owners! I got all checked in, and Doug showed me to the spot and even helped me align my sewer hook up!

Here are the Pro's and Con's:

Pro:
* SUPER location, right across the street from Warren Dunes!
* Right off the highway!
* Clean RV Park
* Amazingly nice owners
* Quiet park with mostly seasonal campers
* Ice Cream shop at the driveway (not owned by the campground, but right next door)

Con:
- RV Park - albeit it's not concrete slabs, it's super full of seasonal campers is huge fifth wheels, motor coaches, etc.
- Most spaces are pretty close together on all sides, not much a view of anything.
- Seasonal Campers (lots of campers have a lot of 'things' outside their campers and it looks slightly cluttered).
- Cell Coverage is limited.

I can't say enough nice things about Virginia Highland Haven! Upon arrival we were greeted so warmly, all the people were fantastic, and I can't even begin to rave about all the musicians among the members and guest! It was truly a magical evening for us. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

Next time we are definitely staying for a bit!

BIG TIP! Go up 221 to get there, it's a much easier trip then 653 (Shawsville Pike) which is were your GPS might tell you to go..

Kamp Komfort is a cute country park and is exactly what you would expect for a RV/campground.

It’s a cute park with a pool and lots of places for kids to play although the sites are pretty close together. Since I camped there in the fall there was plenty of room between campers, but I would imagine that the summer is quite congested. The campground host was lovely and showed me the way to my site even though it was REALLY cold when I pulled in. The sites are full hookups, well maintained, and all of them were nice and level. I was on the 30A side.

The only ‘con’ that I’ll give this park is the proximity to the road. The site that I was camping in was right next to the road and I could hear road traffic all night long. However the road traffic might not of been as prevalent but the area was wonderfully quiet at night.

One note.... in the morning, luckily I was awake, but there was a freight train that blew by at about 7am on Sunday morning. It was loud! Imagine the train horn waking you up!

In regards to the area, I was only in the area to visit friends so I’m not entirely clear what the area has to offer, but if I was going to visit Bloomington/Normal it is a pretty close park!

TV signals and cell signals are great in this park as well!

**I’m a rough reviewer, so don’t take my stars too much to heart.

The other two reviews are accurate, but I wanted to add my experience. In fairness, my adventure here was the second night in the new RV for another round of shakedown camping. That being said, I was looking for somewhere close to home that had water hookups at the site to test city-water into my RV.

I'm absolutely not a gambler, so staying at the Casino RV resort was not appealing, but from the prior reviews, the property stands up to being clean, but it's DEFINITELY an RV park. This is not a campsite. I hauled two bails of firewood to find out that there isn't a fire ring. :(

That aside, the check in was like checking into a hotel, again, not something that I would do under any other circumstance... I'm RVing to get AWAY from hotel check-ins. I suggest to have the front desk show you the map when they put you in a site, my original site was tiny but I caught it before heading into the RV circle.

Since the RV Park doesn't have trees, there is no shade, and no protection from winds. When I stayed it was a bit windy and it ran straight through the park.

All in all, if you are traveling through the area, definitely a great place to stop due to how close it is to I-80, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking to actually camp and have that campground camaraderie.

Arrival -
Cash or Check... remember to bring either cash or check! It’s an honor system of sorts for walk-ups, but next time, I’m definitely reserving a spot. There were many sites in the ‘walk-up’ area that were already reserved so it made the pickings limited.

Stay Overall -
It’s a very clean campground, the spots are sorta close together, but not too bad. The outside sites have water that is in the middle of the pad so one water hose will work, but the middle rows have water in-between and will take at least two fresh water hoses to get them to your RV.

Electrical was overall stable, but we ended up tripping the 30A and converted to 50A with the dogbone to 30A mid-trip.

I never used the bathhouse, but I’ve heard that they are nice.

Overall, it’s close to Racine, and not too far from Milwalkeee. The hiking paths are nice, but nothing too crazy.

ITEM OF NOTE - The campground isn’t too far from a shooting range, so you can hear guns firing all day long. If you aren’t longing for a silent camping experience, it’s nothing too bad. I haven’t seen this in other reviews, so I thought it might be useful to some.

With a late Sunday arrival, we pulled into a lovely site backing up to the lake. The only bumps on the way in was learning where the water was to fill the fresh tank up with as the site only have Electric (Mostly 30A but I heard there are a few 50A's near the front of the park).

Early May and a weekday adventure has this State Park pretty quiet. ONLY ADVISORY - the sites are extremely close together (and some trees would make parking anything larger then 25' a challenge), so on the weekend I'm sure it's a bit chaotic.

The host (Joe) was really lovely, and the views are beautiful! Lots of geese and a few bugs to deal with, but that's camping folks!

Things of note:
* 20 minute drive to the nearest gas station
* Sites close to the lake are NOT level, so bring those leveler with (I learned from this trip to buy another 10 pack of Lynx!)
* AT&T Cell coverage is low but work-able, Verizon is spotty (Those are the two I carry)

I might have overlooked this place since it's really close to the highway, but boy would I have been missing out.

Pro's:
* SUPER Friendly
* Level Sites
* Great (and I mean great) WiFi
* Gorgeous views from all directions
* Restaurant On-Site
* Super Clean
* Did I mention Friendly, SUPER friendly!!!!!!

Con's:
* It's a KOA and I'm sure if it's super-busy and you have bad neighbors that you will have a bad time.
* There is some highway noise, but I was in site 1 and it was completely manageable.
