Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on August 18, 2023Cliffside is a very nice park maintained by Racine County. The sites are very large, with nice fire rings, newer picnic tables & electric pedestals, and new water service at the time of our visit (July 2016). Grounds are immaculately maintained.
Sites 1-41 are first-come, first served and reservable, sites 42-92 are reservable (there is a $12 non-refundable reservation fee) and there are a few group campsites as well. I did not see any pull-through sites though. There's a hiking trail with a view of Lake Michigan, and a softball field in the picnic area.
Very convenient to Racine or south Milwaukee.

Arrival -
Cash or Check... remember to bring either cash or check! It’s an honor system of sorts for walk-ups, but next time, I’m definitely reserving a spot. There were many sites in the ‘walk-up’ area that were already reserved so it made the pickings limited.
Stay Overall -
It’s a very clean campground, the spots are sorta close together, but not too bad. The outside sites have water that is in the middle of the pad so one water hose will work, but the middle rows have water in-between and will take at least two fresh water hoses to get them to your RV.
Electrical was overall stable, but we ended up tripping the 30A and converted to 50A with the dogbone to 30A mid-trip.
I never used the bathhouse, but I’ve heard that they are nice.
Overall, it’s close to Racine, and not too far from Milwalkeee. The hiking paths are nice, but nothing too crazy.
ITEM OF NOTE - The campground isn’t too far from a shooting range, so you can hear guns firing all day long. If you aren’t longing for a silent camping experience, it’s nothing too bad. I haven’t seen this in other reviews, so I thought it might be useful to some.

We stayed here 10 nights in late September 2018. The campsite is divided in two sections. One is for reservations only with no walk-ins allowed and the other is walk-ins welcome, but you can also reserve. Reservations for the area with walk-ins welcome must be reserved seven days in advance; while the other sites can be reserved the day prior to arrival. They charge a $12 reservation fee which is ridiculous in my opinion. If you need to make a change to a reservation, make sure you call instead of going on-line so you can avoid a second reservation charge. We were not sure how busy the campground would be so reserved a site. For the time of year, a reservation was not necessary, but I can see where it would be busy during the summer. It filled up a bit more on the weekend too. All the campsites are water and electric and have a fire ring. There is a dump station on-site as well. The campground is about 30 mins to Milwaukee. Easy access to the city without all the noise. Even when the campground filled up on the weekend, it was very quiet and peaceful. We walked the park with our dogs several times and it was very quiet and nice. The sites are spacious and could fit any size rig. The sites were fairly level as well. We were able to get 2-3 bars 4G LTE on our AT&T hotspot while Verizon was 5 bars 4G LTE. They have showers, bathrooms and a playground. There is no check-in process when you have a reservation. You find your spot and setup. Overall it was a nice place to stay and the cost was reasonable. We would stay here again.

This campground is a sewer away from being perfect. We've been fulltime RVing for 5 years and there are only a handful of places that have it all. This is one of them. The only thing missing is sewer. We had 50amp electric, water, a beautiful spacious site, antenna TV that worked well, and excellent cell service. That, to us, is dang near perfect.
Site & Location: It's a wooded campground with spacious, well-manicured grassy sites. The roads in are big, so no problem for big rigs. Dump station and garbage are at the entrance/exit. Sites are gravel back-in, may be a little tricky if it's a weekend and the place is packed, but not impossible. Water is located at the back of sites in order to split and service multiple sites, we needed our 100' hose. Each loop has a nice wooden playground for kids and a clean bathhouse with 2 large walk-in showers and toilets for each gender. No laundry facilities. There are train tracks just outside the park, but we never heard a train. That's also where the cell towers are, both Verizon and AT&T, but Verizon worked much better than AT&T (we have both). It feels like you're out in nature, away from it all, yet it's less than 1/2 hour from Milwaukee and 1.5 hours from Chicago.
Service: As a fulltime family, we work and school on-the-road, as I know many do, so here are the cell service speed tests I did: AT&T - 31.0 (download), 0.03 (upload); Verizon - 75.4 (download), 9.43 (upload). We could stream/game on both; however, I teach online with VIPKID and only Verizon was strong enough for that. Hope that helps.

This is a nice county park with water and electric hookups. It's an easy distance to both Racine and Milwaukee with lots to do nearby. The park is well maintained and feels really spacious. Site 63 doesn't really have any shade. The only drawback to our site was a lack of shade and backed up to someone who had roosters in the neighborhood behind the park. They were loud, but not terrible. Bathrooms were clean and the showers were free and had great hot water. We enjoyed the park and would stay again if ever in the area.

Stayed June 1 - 5. Maybe because of CV-19, this campground was 10% full, and deceptively roomy. One-half is FF. Took a couple tries at leveling, but sites are pretty big. Roads are paved, sites are gravel. Power and water are both sufficient. Grounds with two play grounds, baths and showers were well maintained and open. Three group camping sites (were closed). Three picnic areas with huge game fields. Groceries and hardware are close by. Racine, WI is an easy drive. Roosters at a neighboring farm quiet down at night. There was a $12 registration fee.

Huge sites with trees and park like feel without the bugs. Most are reservable but except for July 4 weekend there were always a few open first come first served sites. I couldn’t believe how quiet this park was even on the weekends. Close to Lake Michigan and stores. Fast AT&T streaming.

This worked very well for the things we wanted to do in Milwaukee and Racine, but there isn't much to do without driving. While there are nice beach views, it's very difficult to get to Lake Michigan from the campground. A 10 minute drive brings you to a crowded but nice beach in Racine. Was concerned about other posts about the camp hosts, but we didn't encounter any problems and followed all rules, both posted and learned by talking to other campers.

Stayed here during the first full week they were open for the 2021 season. Beautiful and spacious sites. Perimeter sites are a little bigger than interior ones. Have another weekend booked here at end of July. Definitely recommend exploring the trails (there’s a little path right past site 4 that connects to a parking area in the park and if you head straight back, there are trails that will eventually lead to the cliff.) Amazing views and definitely worth the hike. Also, if you’re traveling with a dog, highly recommend the Caledonia dog park (aka Johnson dog park) It’s an off leash park about a 7 minute drive from the campground (no entrance fee or pass required). Acres of land with a river running through it. Our dog had a blast!
