This is a great campground to experience the Big Horns yet only 15 min from the cute town of Buffalo. There are only 11 sites all of which are near the middle fork of Clear Creek. We stayed in Site 7 which easily accommodated our 25' Airstream and 20' tow vehicle. We saw several other travel trailers, Class B's and even a Class A. The sites are nicely separated and it was very quite the entire time.

We could not get any cell service on Verizon or AT&T even with the WeBoost. My Pepwave could not get any service on AT&T or T-Mobile. So if you really want to get away from it all but not be too remote this is your place.

What a great campground. We've been planning our trip for months and had hoped to be able to stay right at the National Monument. We arrive about 1:30 pm on Wednesday and the CG was less than 1/2 full so we had our pick of sites. A12 gave us a great view of the tower and was quite private.

The CG filled up by around 8:00 pm but was nearly emptied out by 11:00 am. The camp host told us that a lot of people use this as a stopover to other locations (Yellowstone or the Black Hills).

The grounds were well maintained and the bathrooms clean. There are no utilities at the sites so boondocking is a must.

This was our first trip with our new Airstream trailer. We live in Portland so it was only about a 90 min drive. The campground is modest in size but quite nice being situated in the Columbia River Gorge. You can hear the traffic on nearby I-84 as well as the active rail line but it really wasn't that bad. It's very forested which help gives the feeling of being more remote that you really are. We didn't have any problem sleeping due to noise but the trailer is much quieter than being in a tent.

Nice hiking trails nearby.

We had virtually no cell service on Verizon and AT&T. We had to walk over near the interstate to have any usable data.

10 minute walk to miles of fabulous Oregon beach. 15 min drive to great hiking at Oswald West State Park. 25 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in Cannon Beach. Verizon and AT&T cell service excellent!

This is great beach camping. The sites are typical size and spacing for an Oregon state park but both inner and outer rings are pretty nice. Not secluded but pretty comfortable.

The beach is fabulous for humans and dogs alike. And the view north to Falcon Cape is really nice. We’ll be coming back.

Located at the south end of Netarts Bay, Cape Lookout State Park Campground it well located for exploring the area from Pacific City to the south up to Cape Mears to the north and over to Tillamook.

Netarts Bay offers some great clamming; Rosenberg Building Supply in TIllamook has some of the gear needed.

The campground is very close to a huge beach and provides easy road access for even big rigs. The campground is not as pristine as other Oregon State Parks; beach erosion is taking its toll. The sites are small and pretty tight, the bathrooms and showers dated but clean.

NOTE: Cape Mears Loop road has been closed for years and around Feb 2024 a new road was opened just south of Cape Mears that connects to Bay Ocean Road (at the time of this review neither Google nor Apple Maps shows the new road). So it is possible to do the Three Capes Loop.

We wanted a nice boondocking site near the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument and Barnhouse delivers! It’s 4 miles and 1300 feet higher than the nearby US 26 up a narrow but paved road so it feels very remote. However we did get great service with AT&T and okay with Verizon (T-Mobile reported 4 bars but my modem never got an IP address).

There are 6 - 8 sites (some could be doubles) most of which can accommodate an RV. Several would have worked for our 25’ Airstream. OHVs are prohibited so it’s super quiet!

We arrived on a Tuesday bout 4:00 pm and the campground was deserted so we had our pick of sites. The site we picked was pretty level and well shaded with a lovely view of the forest. During our 2 day stay there were only 2 other sites occupied. It’s very peaceful with the only sounds being the gentle afternoon breeze and the birds.

It’s located almost exactly half way between the Painted Hills unit and the Sheep Rock unit of John Day Fossil Beds so it was perfect for visiting both during our layover day.

We’ll definitely be back!

We spent 4 nights here as a part of an Oregon Airstream Rally. The facilities are modern and well maintained. The camp hosts were friendly. Cellular data was great with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobil. A 15 minute drive puts you into downtown Ashland.

The reservoir is at the bottom of a valley and get pretty windy in the afternoon. The lake is a popular destination and was busy (and loud) well into the night on the weekend.

We spent two nights here (Fri & Sat) on our way home from the Washington coast. It's a very lush park with mature evergreen and deciduous trees throughout. The Nehalem river lazily bounds the park with sites 2 - 6 overlooking the river. The remaining sites are fairly close together but with so many trees it still feels like you're out in the woods. The bathrooms are dated but clean and functional. During the weekend there were a lot of families so it's a little noisy with people just enjoying being outside.

There's not a lot to do in the area; Vernonia is about 15 minutes away which provides some cycling and hiking options.

No AT&T service on either an iPhone or the Pepwave. Verizon was serviceable with the help of the WeBoost.
