This little gem has many sites that sit right in the midst of tall trees and are backed by the woods. My site had really nice shade that made sitting out on hot, sunny afternoons quite pleasant. The sites are closer than most OH state parks but we had a wonderful experience.

The sites are rather short, and big rigs will have difficulty with the 90 degree back-in turns to get to the sites.

Verizon was surprisingly decent for download speeds. I wasn't working but had 67.4 mbps download speeds and 2.77 mbps upload speeds without a booster on the 5G UW network.

To my disappointment, my hot water heater/boiler was not working when I ran off of LP on my most recent trip, so I decided to suck it up and go with sites that had shore power versus waste precious vacation time trying to diagnose and fix the problem. I wanted a site that was convenient to both Buena Vista and Twin Lakes and Arrowhead Point fit the bill. I called from Ft. Morgan and made my reservations and arrived before the office closed.

The check-in process was pleasant and quick and I was escorted to my site by one of the owners. I had requested an electric and water only site. The site was small, but very pleasant and owner guided me as I backed my T@b into the site, and nestled the trailer among the trees on the site. The site came with a picnic table, fire ring, water connection, and shore power. The sites are not very private, but such is life in a commercial park.

The CG is right along the highway, to the east, and with the Collegiate Peaks in the background, to the west. The highway noise was not bad and I never heard it when I went to bed at night.

The WiFi at the CG was probably the best I have experienced at a commercial park. I also received decent 4G on Verizon with no booster. I did not even try to pick up TV channels with my over the air antenna as I know that you really don't get any channels in this area.

What I liked:
- Easy access
- Reasonable prices for a commercial park
- Friendly staff
- Wifi/cell service quality

What could have been better:
- Location, good, but not ideal, for someone who wants to feel totally away from it all.

If I need to camp with hook ups I would consider camping here, again.

We did not have long enough to enjoy this campground. The sites are very long, paved and fairly level. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The bathroom was very clean and appeared reasonably modern. Tempera 5d urr were very pleasant and we were able to leave the windows open and turn the fan off at night, skipping A/C, altogether.

I would love to visit this park, again, for longer. This seems like a park that l, although popular, is a place you could really kick back and relax.

This is a small Forest Service CG above 9,000' on Sunshine Mesa, close to Telluride. The sites were the very small, but they were spread out and private. This was not the cleanest CG I have stayed at and the pit toilets had a sort of vacuum thing going on. I'll leave it at that.

The CG is in a nice location and there are views towards Mt. Wilson from a little trail on the edge of the CG.

I would not recommend that larger RVs attempt this CG. the sites are small and there is not a ton of room for turning around. It is first come, first serve, and it fills up early. You are taking a risk on a weekend, but if it full, you can find boondocking sites down near Trout Lake and Lizardhead Pass.

The CG was exceptionally quiet. There is no cell phone service at this CG. Even in the July heat, this CG was very cold over night and I ran the heat.

It was free, not far from the main thoroughfares through town, and there was no line. It was not at all muddy when I used the dump station but it is dirt, so if there have been recent heavy rain you might expect mud. This was a perfect stop to dump between Gunnison and Ridgeway.

Sometimes you need a suburban campground and this is a great one. With lake views in two directions and lage sites. This campground is a real gem. In addition to the natural beauty, This campground has a ton to do, offering boat, kayak, SUP, and bike rentals.

I had excellent Verizon signal to work and take video calls and stream video.

There are very few campgrounds near Knoxville. This one is about 30 minutes from downtown Knoxville, and about 1p minutes from the Lenoir City business district on 321.

Door Dash and Grubhub deliver to this campground.

Updated April 11, 2022:

I spent two nights at Atwood Lake at site 234 during the first weekend in May, 2015. This site is a corner site with full hook ups. I had decent Verizon signal while there (3-4 bars) but no TV reception with my inexpensive antenna.

It only takes a moment to realize that this campground is filled, almost entirely by permanent campers. These are almost all either big rigs or even regular residential type trailers. I found it difficult to find my loop, and since it was early season, there were no park staff personnel present to assist and no map. I had made my reservation via phone while en-route, so I did not have the luxury locating the site ahead of my arrival.

I chose Atwood for a few reasons. First, it was relatively close to the Pleasant Valley Factory, where I was picking up my T@b trailer after some warranty work. Second, it had full hook ups, making it easy to de-winterize. Lastly, I wanted to try the cellular connectivity to determine if I could work from my campsite at the Tearstock rally later this summer.

What I liked:

• Clean restrooms. I was probably the only one who used them. I did not use the showers.
• Pet friendly
• Friendly campers. It felt very safe.
• Lake view from my corner site
• Quiet - no loud campfires late at night.
• Price was very good for full hookup site.

What could have been better:

• Didn't feel like I was getting away from it all due to the trailer park feel and the close proximity to other campsites.
• It was not very user friendly for first time campers - no maps, instructions, etc.. This could have been due to the early season date.

Would I stay here again? Well, I am staying for the Tearstock rally in the group site, but I would stay here again, although this would not be my first choice.

I camped at Atwood in 2015, when daily and weekly campers were interspersed with seasonal campers. This was not a great experience.

This time,, I camped at site 920 in section H, which is a new section of the park. The sites are concrete and I had a FHU site. Sites are landscaped and close to the water with some sites with unobstructed views of the lake.

The sites are not on top of each other but a little closer than I prefer. The trees are all young so there is only a little shade from the trees behind the site and virtually no privacy.

The park was 100% full when I visited.

Verizon signal was fairly strong.

This is a great park for a weekend camping getaway.

This campground is within 2 hrs of Pittsburgh and easy access from I 70. The bathrooms were clean and the sites were very spacious. Look at the photos to pick a wooded site as their are some woth little to no privacy.

The Verizon data speeds were serviceable if you don't need to work, at around 4.59 mbps download and 202 kbps upload speeds, with a booster. Don't plan on video calls from this part of the campground ( A loop.)

There are some very nice sites, here, which make it a weekend go-to for me, close to home.
