This was my second stay at this wonderful Colorado State Park, in the Pa-Co-Chu-Puk area. These are full hook-up, concrete sites. The sites are level and spacious. There is not a lot of privacy, due to the terrain, but there is plenty of space so you do not feel you are in your neighbors' business.

The fees for Full Hook Ups are $30 site fee + $7/day park access fee.

Verizon service is strong enough to do Skype video calls at this CG.

The rangers and hosts do a nice job of keeping things reasonably quiet in this large CG and they are visible, often. Since this is so close to the road, it is nice to see the high level of security. The park staff are all friendly and helpful and seem genuinely glad that you have come.

This CG is right next to the river and offers lovely distant views of the San Juan Mountains and Owl Creek Pass. There is a pleasant nature walk adjacent to the CG and nice fishing close as well. In the evening, we heard what I believe to have been foxes. Wildlife is abundant in this park.

This CG can get warm in the summer so the option to have a/c is very nice.

The bathroom and laundry facilities at this CG are awesome!

The location is the lynch pin that makes this park such a great place to camp. I use it as a base location for photographing around the San Juan Mountains.

This is on the high end for a public lands CG, but it is worth every penny.

I stayed here for 5 nights in the first half of July. Temperatures were comfortable with windows open and the Fantastic Fan.

There are a number of dispersed sites along the river. The sites are large and private, and provide Arkansas River access. The sounds of the rushing river are very relaxing and you will see some wildlife in the area, mostly small game.

Cell reception is spotty and like most areas along the east side of the Collegiate Peaks, the service tends to take a dive in the later part of the afternoon, to the point where a booster won't even help. No TV reception is available at this spot.

As noted, the long road down into can be a challenge when traffic is coming from both directions. I had to back half-way down the long shelf road once, without my trailer. I wouldn't want to do it with the trailer.

There are some mineral mine claims in the area and I saw a shady looking bus parked at the opposite end of where I was camping, appearing to try to hide in some trees. However, I felt safe and no one bothered me while I was there.

It is dusty down at these sites, so be prepared for that.

This is reclaimed land from the mining days for central OH. There are several campgrounds nearby, including Hook Lake, Maple Grove, Sand Hollow, Bicentennial, Wood Grove and Loop C. Camping is free but permits are required and may be printed from the web or picked up at local businesses.

I spent 2 nights over the weekend in early August

Pros:

-Tons of sites spread out over numerous campgrounds.
-Free!!
-Quiet. I was told campground "C" was the rowdiest campground and that it is often much busier at most of the campgrounds.
-You could stay for up to 3 months.
-Year-round camping at some campgrounds.
-Friendly campers
-Big sites
-Not many rules, pet friendly
-Water available
-Bathrooms available but I did not use.
-Fairly remote for Ohio
-Gravel roads were in great shape
-Trash cans, picnic tables, fire rings at sites

Cons:

-Bugs: lots of them
-No stores or services close by
-No cell service at Sawmill. Decent 3g close by at the overlook, not far from the campground. I had a pretty decent 3g connection on Verizon with a booster at the overlook.

The train is brutal. It runs through the campground all day and all night. Otherwise, it would be a decent campground.

The sites are not private, bathrooms are cleaned infrequently, and the sites are not level, but the location is as good as you will in Lake Louise.

With a combination of mountain views, large, wooded sites, patios, good cell reception, great bathrooms and Lau dry facilities, this campground is one of the best state park campgrounds you can find.

This campground is conveniently located near Central City, Idaho Springs, and Golden Gate State Park.

Our site was fantastic! It featured a concrete pad and patio, a wooden deck with table, umbrella, and Adirondack chairs, and a swing. The Aspens and mountain views were the flourishes that made this an awesome stop.

We chose this site because we needed a site with wifi and cabel not far from Denver and where we could catch up on laundry.

This is a great little KOA thatis minutes off of I-80. The campground is nestled among farmlands and although you are minutes from I-80 you will enjoy a quiet night's sleep.

What I liked:
-Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Private toilet and shower stalls in individual rooms.

- 2 dog parks, one of which is actually big enough for a small to medium-sized dog to get true off leash exercise.

- Great pizza made at the office and delivered to your site.

- Friendly, helpful staff.

- Sites were level

What could have been better:
- Like most KOAs, the sites are close together.

I moved into this site late in the day on Memorial Day as the crowds thinned out and headed home. This is a popular site among regular campers to the area because of its breathtaking views, relative ease of access, and it offers some protection from the wind. The driveway to the site is just past the first big bend on Country Road 24 after the first ascent.

The views from this site overlook Twin Lakes Reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Wildflowers start to appear in early June all around the site. I would love to be here in the fall to see the mountain sides ablaze with Aspen. It would be really tough to beat this view and at the same time get decent cell phone reception.

4G was mostly good, about 2 bars of Verizon without the booster and full bars with the booster. Strangely, the signal seemed to get fickle without the booster in the afternoons. There was no TV reception at this site, but I am using a cheap antenna.

This is an excellent site for solar - lots of space for full exposure. I easily remained charged with just 200w of solar panels, each day.

Two of the things I enjoyed the most about this site were the size and privacy. Although another boondocker could join you, they likely to join you, especially if you made the site look used. My dog loved the space to roam and play. A driveway to another site, that would be suitable for tents, only, continues past the main site and was a nice place to walk the dog and offers less obstructed views up the lake towards Independence Pass.

Road noise was occasionally noticeable but the loudest sound you hear is the wind through the trees. I did occasionally hear music from a site on the hill above me.

The driveway is rather rocky and I do not recommend it for low-clearance rigs. It would be difficult to maneuver a bigger rig to turn around if the site is occupied, so you might want to jump out of your vehicle and walk down a bit to see if someone is there first.

This site made me feel like I had a mountain home for 2 weeks. I can't wait to go back to this site!

This is truly an amazing site and it's popularity makes me nervous. Please tread lightly and follow and monitor campfire restrictions and extinguish your fires with water to keep protect these sites.

This is my second stay, here and what I loved is the privacy and views. Simply some of the best boondocking available.

The best views are at the top of the hill,, past Lakeview Campground, overlooking the entire lake area.

Amidst the cornfields on the prairie in western Illinois lies this nice little KOA. The owners waited for us (late check-in) and took us to our site. The bathrooms were really nice and the pool looked great, too. Sites were on the small side. Great overnight stop.
