Evidently, this park is situated right below an arriving flights airway. Unfortunately ately, we had to pause conversations while planes flew overhead.

Aside from the noise, the sites were very spacious and wooded. The diversity of trees and birds really enhance the experience.

We held a group camping event here and found it to be great for that setting.

The cell phone reception here is not that great and if you need to take calls or video calls, this is not a great place, even with a booster.

This campground sits close to 10,000' in elevation, making it very comfortable in hot summer weather.

What I liked:
•Location - about half of the way up the mountain, close to the lodge
•Set right in the woods
•Campground hosts were very friendly

What could have been better:

Tight spaces, felt like we were doubled up in sites

There is NO Verizon service at Echo Lake.

This was my second stay, here, at Echo Lake. The campground sits at the base of the toll road, and close to its namesake, Echo Lake. Sites are very shady and you do really feel like you are camping in the woods. The sites are tight, but this time I scored a slightly bigger spot. There is no cell service at the CG.

The camp host (wife) was rather a real character. The guy in the tent int he adjacent site was making some strange sounds and we found out from the host that he had been in an accident. This CG fills, often so I recommend reservations. There was a fire ban when we camped here, and it was made clear both by overhead highway bulletins and the camp hosts. This was a non-issue for us as we did not intend to have a fire.

The campground is very quiet, despite it being full.

My favorite feature of the CG is that it makes it easy to explore Mt. Evans early and late, without having to drive up from the bottom of the road.

What I liked:
Location
Quiet CG
Shady sites

This busy state park campground, southwest of Columbus,.Ohio, is a nice place for a weekend getaway in the Columbus area. With 132 electric only sites, water hydrants throughout the park, shower houses, a dump station, and laundry facilities, it is an easy place to spend an extended stay.

The campground is very busy and reaervations are required at all Ohio state parks during Covid.

Cell service is spotty (Verizon) at the park but I was able to get fair service at my site (136.) If you need good cell service, check out A. W. Marion state park, a little to the east.

There are many kids at the campground and they all seem to have lights on their bikes which makes the evenings feel a little like the Disney Electric Light Parade. Younger kids were riding low to the ground electric go-xart type contraptions so be vigilant when. You drive through the campground.

Site 136 is a nice L shaped campground which provides privacy and shared for sitting outside.

The picnic tables are rough, but each site has a pole for lanterns and a fire ring.

There are many activities at the park, including biking, hiking, paddling, and disc golf.

This campground sits just inside the Fall River Rd Entrance to RMNP, and is nicely settled among the trees. The location is very convenient to Horseshoe Park and Estes Park. The sites are very tight and there is not a lot of privacy. The cost was $17/night, plus a $9 reservation fee. There is no cell phone service at this campground.

They were building a new bathroom in the B loop, but it was not open and we had a bit of a walk to the closest bathroom.

There were a lot of families and others enjoying campfires, making this a tad busier and noisier than I prefer, but considering it was the height of the vacation season, it really was not bad and it was quiet after quiet hours commenced.

What I liked:
Convenient location
Scenic location - views of MacGregor and Deer Mountains, Fall River
Elevation is above 8,000', making for nice cool summer temps
Nice night skies

What could have been better:
Larger sites
Closer bathroom

There are three perks to this campground: location, dark skies, and quiet.

My site was small and practically right on the loop road, but I will take a small site that can be reserved one holiday weekend over the possibility of a big site but the risk of no availability.

I absolutely loved this little gem. Lots of mature trees, spacious sites, and solid Verizon signal made this a terrific state park experience.

The sites are electric, only, or non-electric, with water hydrants spread throughout the campground. A dump station is also available.

Bathrooms were available but I used my own facilities.

My site was fairly level and had plenty of shade, although the camper was never in shade.

Each site has a pole for lanterns, fire ring, and picnic table. The picnic tables have seen better days, but they work.

The camp host were very friendly and helpful, even lending and helping me fill my freshwater tank with his giant 100' hose so that I didn't have to break camp to refill.

Locals like to drive through and check out the campers so it can feel a bit like a petting zoo.

There is not a lot for kids to do, but that is probably why it was so quiet.

This was my second stay at this delightful campground.

Notes specific to 2021: The Brood X cicadas were there and they were gross. Also, the lake is drained This year as work on the dam takes place.

This park is really ideal for smaller trailers. Most sites are short and narrow.

New in 2021 is that the road through the electric sites area and all of the site driveways has fresh asphalt. This created a nice, smooth experience, but it also seemed to add to the steepness of the dropff from the site driveway to the ground.

The sites on the outer ring of the electric sites area have more privacy and are wooded.

I love that there are still smaller campgrounds like this available. If you camp during the week, it is a very peaceful experience.

Solid 3 bars of Verizon with 63.7mps download and 453 kbps upload speeds. O had great connection for Teams calls and work.

It's not a remarkable campground but the sites are decent, and it's convenience to suburban Columbus, OH make Alum Creek a nice place to stay if you are visiting the Columbus area.

Pros:
- Decent l-sized private campsites
- Convenient location with food and shopping within 15 minutes
- Very dog friendly, including a large dog park and dog beach
- Lake access

Cons:
- Road noise can be heard throughout the campground and traffic goes well into the night
- Sites were a little muddy and experienced standing water in my site from heavy rain
-Bathrooms are a little dated, but very clean

I was able to work remotely from my site with decent data download speeds with the help of my WeBoost booster (74 download/1.75 upload.)
