This was a great stop from Colorado to Oklahoma. Site was under trees and very shaded. The site was gravel and had some ruts, be we were able to avoid them and it was level enough for the fridge. We didn’t use any facilities or WiFi so can’t comment on them.
Getting back on I-40 East was a little interesting. Drove about 3 miles on old Route 66 through town, part of the road was a little rough. Lots of motels and cafes with Route 66 theme.

The new area is wide open with concrete pads and gravel roads. Nice facilities and hook ups. Can’t beat the price for full hook-ups.
Lots to do on the base but we weren’t there long enough. Just a stop on the way west. After driving in pouring rain all day it was nice just to relax before heading out the next morning.
Will come back again when we can stay longer.
Enter through the commercial gate with proper identification and follow guards instructions. Wait at stop sign until they direct you to proceed.

We came down Friday afternoon for a trail race about 35 miles from here. Our site had plenty of shade and was a pull through. Utilities worked fine. WiFi was ok. AT&T service was better. We ordered dinner the second night, catfish and potato salad and shrimp and sweet potato fries. Plenty of food and delivered right to our door.
We checked in at the store and were escorted to our site. Nice folks! Didn’t notice any highway noise since AC ran all night. September is still hot in Oklahoma.
Didn’t use the Laundry.

Would not stay here again. Water smelled like metal. Entered office/store and asked if there was a laundry, response was: “ yes, see the sign that says laundry, 1 washer is broken, but the other works.” Lots of signs so it was cluttered. Looked in the laundry room and the washers tubs were dark with rust stains on the aggiatators. Left after one night even though we had paid for 2.
The park did have excellent WiFi. But no cell service. Also we could not get satellite signal due to trees on our site. Other sites may have worked.

We had trouble getting level and should have asked for a different site, as there were several available. Park is older and has many (400) sites. Some are exclusive to members. Pools and a fishing pond when he we did not use. Water, electric and sewer all worked as expected. Tables were wooden and old and needed to be replaced.
Would like to come back at another time and spend more time.

Very convenient for our trip. Just outside of town, right off I-40. Not a lot of noise. Nice clean restrooms and game room. Gravel Site was mostly level. 3 fenced in dog areas were nice to let dog off of leash. Check in was easy.

This is our second time here and still pleased. We made the mistake of not making a reservation but snagged 1of the last 2 sites they had. We arrived about 4:00. Our site is not one by the river but it is very shaded and on the end of the row, so neighbors only on one side. With the AC running it’s hard to hear much from the river. Water pressure is good. Did not use bath house or internet. AT&T service was good ( 2 bars). We will be back.
Make a reservation. We came from I40 east and did not exit at 280 like their website states, just take 55 South poop and Exit 4. GPS got us right here.

Our site was level and roomy, but neighbors and all sides were pretty close. Water, electric, and sewer functioned well. One neighbor appeared to have been in site for a while and had outdoor freezer, refidgerator and even a canvas carport. Another actually asked me to move our Jeep as it was blocking their view and air flow!
Used Laundry here and it was clean and reasonably priced. Since we were on first loop, we didn’t really see other loops. We were here in early September just before Hurricane Florence was expected to come a shore. So we had to leave at 5 am on our planned departure day, to try and beat some of the traffic at the noon mandatory evacuation time.
Beach was a short walk from our site. Beach was clean and not to crowded this time of year. Park is close to grocery store and Myrtle Beach proper.

Needed a place for a night after long day of traveling from Memphis. Called the day before and made reservation, glad I did, they filled up. As mentioned this is a small family run place. Site was level, and was full hook up. Arrived when office was closed so paid next morning. Did not get a password so couldn’t check on their WiFi. Cell service was good. Restroom was clean. No complaints.

First trip to South Carolina and this state park. It was great. No complaints. Easy check in process. Site was a short walk to the beach. Hubby ran on the hiking trail that goes through the day park and each day the folks working the gate tried to stop him on his run. Maybe they need to issue a wrist band or something so campers can be recognized when not in their vehicles.
We did not use the restrooms or showers. Except for the outside shower to rinse the sand off. Since it was after Labor Day dogs were allowed on the beach. Was fun watching our Jack Russel experience the waves and tides.
We did visit the Lighthouse and enjoyed climbing the stairs to the top. Would definetly stay here again. It’s just a long way from home so would have to stay longer than 3 nights.
