We dry camped here as a jumping off point for Silver City and Gila Cliff Dwellings. The Campground was fantastic and we should have allowed more time to investigate this place itself!

The dry camping sites are intermingled with the huge rocks. Some are small and best left for the tent campers. But many are large and accessible to large rigs -- ours is a 38' fifth wheel.

The campground was clean with excellent facilities including a covered picnic table. Views of Cochiti Lake are wonderful. It was only 5 miles to Tent Rocks National Monument -- the canyon trail hike there is one of the best we have ever taken. We were boondocking and using our Federal America the Beautiful Senior Pass, so the price was "right"!

Mittry Lake is about 2 miles of washboard gravel road away from paved roads. Taking it slow, we had no problem with our 38' 5th wheel. There are many spots on can choose from -- several right along the lake with fishing jettys and palm trees. Sites before the boat launch area provide best access to the water, but all traffic going to the boat launch will be going right past your site. (We took one of these for the view & the traffic wasn't particularly bad. GPS: 32.820282, -114.473208) There are sites further down the road, past the boat launch that would provide more privacy, but the views weren't so spectacular.

We enjoyed our visit very much, and were considering staying a couple more days ... but in talking with a new neighbor, we learned that on Saturday morning there was going to be a kids fishing derby and the place was going to be packed.

As was said by others, it is about 15 mi. to Yuma. There is a Circle K at the corner of Hwy. 95 & Laguna Dam Road that is only about 7 miles away.

Take Sunfair to Broadway. Pavement ends at the end of the big solar array.

We were planning to stay in the NP, but they were all full. The rangers recommend this BLM. So didn't read the reviews.

Huge area, the center appears to be a dry lake bed. Rain was forecast, so we wanted to be on higher ground. Unfortunately, we went to the far East side of the site, next to a long embankment. --
We discovered that this is used by locals for dirt bikes and ATVs. While they were mostly courteous, we WERE right in the middle of the hill -- so they were riding all around us, from 8 am to 10 PM.

The road in is a fair dirt road, and I was able to pick a route that didn't have too many bad ruts.

Cell reception and data were very good - 4 G.

This park is located 15 - 20 minutes from downtown San Diego -- convenient for visiting the USS Midway Museum, San Diego Zoo, etc.

We chose a partial-hookup site since we have a composting toilet. The sites were adequate, but I would not describe them as "spacious". We did not experience much aircraft noise, but the nearby freeway was audible. Also, where we were, the site was not level, but it was "level-able".

The staff appears to be almost completely volunteer. Our site had a spring loaded "convenience" faucet for filling jugs & buckets, and a second faucet for connecting water to the trailer ... unfortunately, this second faucet had a non-standard connector and a normal fresh-water hose would not connect to it. We were fine, we could fill our fresh water tank using the convenience faucet, and work from our tanks... but it was not as convenient as being connected to the city water.

This is a small park which adjoins a fairly large "green-space" area, including hiking trails, running paths, golf course, equestrian trails, etc. It certainly met our needs as we visited the sights in San Diego.

We were in site 36, near the Group Camping area - although there was no one in the group camp. This made for a lovely experience with a spacious, lovely site which was near the trail to the Giant Spruce. Our site would accommodate a 60+ ft RV, but many of the spaces in the campground were rather small and would accept only smaller rigs. Several sites were most appropriate for tent campers as well.

It was easy to get into the campground, just a few hundred yards off Highway 101. The campground was within a reasonable (less than a mile) walk from the Visitor's Center and the ocean. The Hosts were pleasant and the campground and restrooms were very clean. The regular price is $26/night, but with the America The Beautiful Pass (Senior Pass) the price was $13/night.

We did not stay here, the sites were too small. Also, this campground is located along Route 78 at the point where Yaqui Pass Road meets it. During the day when we were checking it out, it had a fair amount of traffic noise.

We stayed during the week (avoided the weekend rush) and stayed in the "no hookups" area. There the sites are spacious, clean, and delightful. There were flush toilets scattered throughout the campground area. The scenery was breathtaking.

The rate we paid includes the Senior Discount. The staff was helpful. The hike up Palm Canyon to the Oasis is very nice and not too strenuous ... unfortunately, we didn't see any Bighorn Sheep!

Honor system pay, $6 in state, $11 out of state. Pit toilets, Creek running around the park. Finding it was a little unnerving - south on Gillette St. becomes a winding creekside road until you finally see a sign. Left over the bridge and down a short gravel lane.

This was a one night visit as we traveled through the area, but we would definitely go back. We took the road off to the right, just past the "Old Cemetery" -- GPS: 34.188691, -112.852888.

Beautiful site, beautiful views, working Verizon signal. There were others camping in the area, but none close enough that we could see them from our site. For an hour or so in the evening, it sounded like someone was shooting target practice on the other side of the ridge -- but it was not dangerous to us, and the shooting stopped before dusk so the noise was not a problem.
