We needed a place to stay since our dog started to get sick after an all too windy highway 1. We pulled off and found Yanks. What a find as it has nice level pull through and back in spots with all the amenities. Even their dog park has a dog wash that looks just like self serve car wash! Pads are concrete and facilities are spotless. Staff were very friendly. Unfortunately they are near enough to 101 to hear the highway. Within our Airstream this was not an issue.

We moved over here after staying at a nearby park for one night. The spots with views of the lake are wonderful. From Google maps I thought we would be right along the beach but you are at the top of bluff looking over the water. When we were there it was moderately windy almost all the time keeping things cool. The park is immaculately maintained so between the setting and the proximity to Nashville (with shuttles for $20 round trip) this park can command a premium price. We will definitely return whenever we come to Nashville.

We stayed here a couple of nights after seeing some reviews online. They are currently upgrading their electric to 30 and/or 50 amp service (ours was a 50) so make sure you have converters from 50, 30 and 20 to what you need. They staff were super friendly and even stopped by on our last day to see how our stay was. Sites are grassy and somewhat unlevel which required some leveling blocks but manageable. I think the view would have been spectacular but because of the BC wildfires the air quality was bad. We will be back to check it out when the skies are clear. The last mile in is on gravel so take it slow to keep from dusting up the nearby residents. Also, ignore the signs on the way in that say “No overnight camping”. I recommend making reservations since the RV sites are very limited.

We tried calling several times (call couldn’t be completed (Verizon and T-Mobile) and I contacted them through their website with no luck. Are they still in business? I don’t know but we didn’t have any luck.

This campground is a little of an enigma. The campground itself is somewhat tired although the pickle ball, horseshoe pits, pool, etc were very nice. The washers/dryers were brand new (2/18). The sites were very tight with our awning just a foot or so from the Class A behind us. The patio area was concrete and pad was gravel. There are a lot of sites here with only a select few by the water or with a view. All utilities were at the back of the site so our sewer hose was stretched to the max (visions of the movie RV were dancing in my head) and power at our site was only 20 amp. Even though TV cable was “available” you needed a cable box from the office and when I asked they said they had none and had been waiting for a long time to get more so don’t count on it.

The enigma part was that the people there were really nice and I spoke with many campers that had been coming back for several years and 5-6 months a year. They had formed their own communities of friends and the park offered a lot of social activities. As a stop for one or two nights it’s not bad and evidently for those snowbirds it has its own charm.

We stayed here one night and found their laundry and bathrooms to be clean and nice. There are a few trees in the park and grass in the center area but otherwise is gravel. The people working here were nice as well. We would come back when in the area.

The campground was full so we went into the overflow/oversize lot. What a great place to stay. Luckily we got a beach front spot and spent three nights right on the beach with 180 degree view of the lake. The overflow is dry camping with restrooms and free showers at hand. There’s potable water and a dump station nearby. The campground is about a mile away and is also very nice with some lake front spots as well. I would definitely come back to the campground with a reservation or to the overflow without hesitation. I rated the noise as a four because of generators being used in the morning and evening in the overflow. Otherwise, it was quiet.

We moved here from one of our favorites - Snow Canyon State Park, and were pleasantly surprised. The reservoir is beautiful and although there is no camping right along the shore we found the view of it to be very nice. The Mountain View’s all around are stunning, especially in February with new snow on them. This park is favored by the off-road crowd so there is quite a bit of activity around these vehicles, especially the more southern loops although I’m sure that varies at other times of the year. The restrooms and showers were very clean.

We came here just to try somewhere new and we are glad we did. Starting with the front desk, everyone here has been exceedingly friendly and happy (it must be the water!). They have activities, jam sessions, concerts, etc going all the time, every day as well as two pools and several spas. If you can’t find something to do here, its your own fault. Good thing because truthfully there’s not much going on close by although you are within an hour of Indio or Brawley. If you’re looking for grass lawns this isn’t your place either but then you probably shouldn’t be in the middle of a desert. People come here year after year for a reason. They have an RV/Car Wash station ($1/four minutes) which was welcome after 22 days on the road and a free dog wash station with commercial hair drier which was just as appreciated! Hint: If you’re here on Friday, go to the American Legion Hall in Bombay Beach for one of the better steaks you will find anywhere - all for $15 complete with dessert!

It seems that they have cracked down on RVs. The upper parking lot has signs specifically saying no RV or trailer overnight parking, subject to a $150 fine. Maybe they look the other way but we ended up at the Lyons Ferry KOA which was small but nice. Three large RVs showed up as we were leaving and they were at the KOA in the morning.

Palouse Falls was breathtaking and I would highly recommend coming here and tent camping.
