Without Google maps I would have missed the entrance. No sign, no office, no amenities. Our gravel spot was fairly level. Water works. Sewer hookup is there. Did not connect electrical for our one night stay. 100 feet away a resident appears to be reroofing a trailer. Lot of banging. Rte 60 is 130 feet away. Lots of road noise. This may become a resort in the future, but it isn’t now. Picture on Campendium site is misleading.

Don’t let the word “oak” in the name fool you, there a very few trees in this park. However, it is only 3 years old and everything does feel new and upscale. The roads are all paved and the sites are concrete. A large amenity center with pool and kitchen is nicely done. There are two laundry rooms and several “private baths” that are large, clean and accommodating. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The majority of sites are occupied by full-time residents, many of whom head off to work on Monday morning. Lots of dogs and two dog parks. Never saw anyone using the Pickleball court. We were here for a month after getting some work done on the Airstream and then attending a high school graduation and a wedding.

We’ve never stayed for a month anywhere, preferring to use our trailer for camping in state and national parks. So this was very different for us. We met a few neighbors but mostly kept to ourselves.

There is wifi in the park, which is essentially useless. The staff warned that it wouldn’t do for streaming content, but really it didn’t do anything, including downloading email.

There are pages of rules, which sound daunting, but really just using common sense covered most everything a person would need to know to stay in the good graces of the park. The speed limit in the park is 5 mph, which is ignored by everyone. I found that if I just keep my foot off the gas and idle, i stay at 5 mph, but I didn’t observe anyone else doing that in the month we were here.

The biggest annoyance wasn’t the fault of the park, but of its location. It is located close to the intersection of a major N/S artery and an E/W FM Road. Dump trucks heading south would routinely use their engine brakes approaching the stop sign and rattle the windows of every RV in the park.

But if you have to be somewhere for a month nearby Georgetown, this place is probably as good as any other park of its type.

if this park had been somewhere else with a more welcoming owner/manager, it would get 4 stars. I’ve never felt less welcome at ant RV Park anywhere. “Doc” tried to help us get parked but yelled, used exasperated body language and freaked out when I almost drove over the edge of the grass. He yelled more that night as we tried to figure out how to open the gate at night to let our guest car exit. He agreed to let me wash the trailer for $2 extra but when I decided to wash the truck instead he stormed over and informed me he had only agreed to washing the trailer. He was afraid I was getting water on the grass that he had spent a lot of money on recently treating it with some chemicals. (Washing the trailer which was right next to the same grass would not have been a problem?). When I asked him what he wanted me to do he just made a dismissive gesture and said “No more surprises!”

Noise. The first two days Doc mowed edged or blew grass the whole day long. His dog that roams the park freely is a barker. The park adjoins TX35, a busy 4 lane highway with 75 mph speed limit and is busy day and night. The neighborhood on the other side is populated with people who have multiple dogs penned outside and bark day and night.

The only amenity is a coin operated laundry.

The utilities functioned normally.

If you’re coming to the coast to relax, keep looking.

Doc wrote and begged me to take down my review from March 2024. Campendium does not provide for changing reviews. So you be the judge. There are plenty of good reviews. I stand by my comments on road noise.

Friday and Saturday nights, April 1 and 2, we enjoyed a nice private site (level concrete pad) with full hookups. The owners are fabulous, the meals were top notch, in short it was a great weekend getaway.

The Range is not on the way to anywhere, soit is pretty secluded and required traveling windy country roads to get here, but worth the trip.

The only downside at all is that neighboring properties include gun ranges and the unexpected LOUD gunfire was a bit unsettling.

Though we had next to no Verizon coverage, the facility provides excellent wifi.

From Jackson WY to Austin, Laramie is a good stopping point for the first night. Google maps gave us bad directions to the rear of the campground, but common sense then took us back to 287 and south one street to the clearly marked Fairgrounds entrance. The back in full hookup sites are pretty level when you back all the way in. The water connection at site 24 had stripped threads making it impossible to hook up to water without a lot of spray, so we just used the electric connection. 30 amp and 50 amp on the pedestal. It was quiet the night we stayed. So far one train has passed by, but not that close and not a big deal. There were plenty of sites to choose from when we got here around 5:00.

Perfect one-night stop - nothing fancy but good full hook-ups and level gravel pad.

You can pull into any empty site to dump your tanks. Pay $15 at desk after dumping.

Boondocking in April in Texas should be OK, but we hit a day in the upper 80s and the camper didn’t cool off enough at night for my liking. The road to the park should be traveled at no more than 20 mph to avoid disaster inside. However, a hike to the Gorman Falls, though treacherous the last 200 yards is rewarded with a closeup view of a unique geological formation. We got what we came for, but left after one night. Checked off our list. Many nicer State Parks in Texas.

We arrived around 4:00 on Saturday. The office was unattended and locked, so we drove around and looked at the 75 sites. About 20 were occupied, most not long enough to accommodate our 28’ Airstream and truck without unhitching. Since this was just a one night stopover we wanted to stay hitched. We did find a site (#45) that fit the bill. A few others would have worked as well. The 50 amp and water hookups worked. There is a dump station on the way out of the park. There are numerous tall trees and lots of grass around the sites (all paved). There is a sign at each site that can be set to “reserved” and several of them were set this way. I’m not sure how you reserve a site. With no attendant we put our check for $28 in the provided envelop and dropped it through the slot on the locked office door. This stop met our needs for our trip from Austin to Tallahassee perfectly. We
