Was able to stay with Sarah & team on their grand opening weekend. It was great to see so many Airstream families all together with fellow vintage trailer fans. As I noted, it felt more like I was staying with a friend rather than camping at a campground. The team is very friendly and made you feel totally at home. The sites are VERY spacious with great level concrete pads so no need to get as close to the utilities for more room. There is plenty of space to set out a mat & chairs.
There is a good mix of spaces that are in the open, in partial shade and in full tree settings. I look forward to returning again. Sarah and team are off to a great start with big "next phases" coming.

Our family had a wonderful weekend at The Range. It was such a different experience than the usual state park camping we are used to. The people were all wonderful, especially the owners Sarah and Paul. We had so much fun enjoying the community spaces like the fire pit and the Airstream bar. We will definitely be back soon!!

Spacious, warm and inviting with a well-planned layout, where every detail has been thought about
Immaculate facilities: site, restrooms, laundry, barn, store. Sarah was so kind and accommodating. Our girls spent hours and hours fishing in the ponds.
Chef Lucy made a wonderful thanksgiving dinner and brought it to our site. Owners are passionate about keeping nice vintage trailers. Can’t wait to return for a longer stay when the pool is ready.

Be considerate about communicating when you will arrive, I didn't think about telling Sarah that we'd be more than an hour late, not thinking that she would be up waiting for us to arrive to show us our site, sorry!

If you are coming in after dark, take FM660 and Slate Rock Rd slow, there are sharp turns and it gets narrow and bumpy.

We came here after staying at several RV parks that are typical, you know; decent places, nice people with their typical handmade sign and a handmade wood bear with a pink flamingo by the entrance. Then you pull into this place where it has an amazing comprehensive plan that is obvious from start to finish. It is beautiful, thoughtful and feels like a dream compared to the others.
The vintage trailers and airstreams just add to the ambience.
The owners are welcoming and all the details are spot on. It’s a fairly new place that started in the midst of Covid. But I have a feeling that it won’t be long before booking here will be something you really have to plan in advance. I would always be willing to try, just in case they have the perfect spot open.
It is out of the way a bit so bring some things with you, however there is a bar by the barn that opens up in the afternoons!
I would say it’s a great place for solo travelers, couples, and families.
Pull through spots as well as easy back in locations. Open as well as wooded. Good Wi-Fi too.
Arrival was great, Sarah came out to meet us and took us immediately to our spot. We felt very welcome the entire time. And to top it off they served a dinner in the barn on Saturday night.

After hearing so many recommendations we made our trip plans for a New Years celebration. The reservation process was easy as well as the dinner reservation was equally as easy. Thank you Sara.

I cannot explain how fantastic dinner was. The steak was on the level of Bob’s Chop House or Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille. The chef is a genius. Maddie, the bartender, was excellent. On that note, be prepared to enjoy libations only from Texas. You will be impressed. We met people from all over the country and enjoyed hearing their stories. I’ve not experienced this level of interaction and conversation at any other campground. It was a comforting feeling.

The campsites are level concrete slabs with plenty of room. Electric, water and sewer. These facilities are surrounded with gravel so as to keep you out of the mud when setting up or breaking camp. Each site has a large sturdy wooden table and benches. You can rent gas fire rings if you do not have a fire ring of your own. The ponds are stocked with bass. There are vintage rental units available as well. I did not get to peek into any but I imagine they must be immaculate. WiFi is fairly strong.

Close by is the town of Ennis. You’ll find a few places that specialize in kolaches. A few restaurants and some shopping. The most interesting thing outside the campground is a gas station. We’ve all heard the saying “don’t eat sushi from a gas station.” The sushi and other items made by the couple that own the gas station are excellent.

The Range is about a 30 to 45 minute drive to downtown Dallas. It’s easy to get to. The sites are easily accessible.

Friday and Saturday nights, April 1 and 2, we enjoyed a nice private site (level concrete pad) with full hookups. The owners are fabulous, the meals were top notch, in short it was a great weekend getaway.

The Range is not on the way to anywhere, soit is pretty secluded and required traveling windy country roads to get here, but worth the trip.

The only downside at all is that neighboring properties include gun ranges and the unexpected LOUD gunfire was a bit unsettling.

Though we had next to no Verizon coverage, the facility provides excellent wifi.

After hearing a ton of reviews raving about the Range, we booked 3 nights over labor day weekend. We were camped in site 8, which is a very short walk to the pool/barn.

All of the sites here are great. Our pad was perfectly level and the hookups were very nicely placed in a rock bed to avoid getting muddy or having ant piles, etc. There is a very large patio as well and both the pad and the patio were spotless clean. I actually overheard another camper saying that the owner pressure washes all of the pads between ever visit or two.

There are, from what I can tell, 3 types of sites here. There are sites 1 through about 10, that are a little more open. There is foliage around them to make them very private, but not mature tree cover. So, you will get a good look at the sky, but not a lot of shade during the day.

Then sites 11 through about 18 are in more mature tree cover with lots of shade and privacy. I would definitely stay in 15 next time.

Finally, sites 18 to about 24, are open sites with great views of the barn, ponds, and pool. If you like being out in the mix, these are for you.

The dinner was excellent. All family style, so while you can (technically) have a private dinner, you will most likely be visiting with someone. However, the dinner is buffet style and the chef prepares a fantastic wagu beef dinner with salad, veggies, potatoes, etc.

While this was labor day weekend, it was a little more kid heavy that normal (according to the owners), but the pool is still large enough to accommodate without feel cramped. And, the pool is extremely nice. Not your typical rv park pool. The water is fed by a pump and waterfall coming off a windmill feature. The circulation keeps the water very cool even in Texas heat. One half of the pool, lengthwise, is only 8" deep with some umbrellas mounted in the pool, so kids can wade, or you can just sit under the umbrellas.

The bar area is great. There are some games and furniture for lounging. The bar is amazingly well stocked for being a teeny little trailer. They had a large selection of canned and bottled beer (about 20) and about 6 taps. All Texas. Plus, there is a wide selection of Texas liquors and wines and craft cocktails. Everything is billed to your site and, I hope (assume) a 20% gratuity is added because there were not tip jars and then staff was amazing. Shelly, the bartender/queen, even comes out to the pool to bring you your order and take your order.

The area is pretty remote, which is awesome. It is amazing that you can literally see the Dallas skyline as you are driving out of the town of Bristol (1 mile from campsite), but it feels super remote. There is a Wal-mart about 20 minutes away in Ennis. A highlight is the Bristol General Store. This is basically a convenience store, but the owners are an asian couple from Dallas who moved to the area and opened this store/grill. They are somewhat renown for their sushi. We bought some, and a t-shirt, and it was amazing. There is also a winery very close by with live music and a bar. I did not hear any rave reviews of their wine and didn't visit, but I hear it is a fun place.

The only drawback for us is internet. Our site was not able to connect to the wifi on site. I do think if you stayed in a site closer to the barn or the wifi tower (site 5-ish), you would be fine. But, we had one bar of cell and no wifi. We have not yet put an external cell/wifi antenna on our camper, so I am sure if you have a wifi booster, you would be fine.

They do have rentals that are very cute and well equipped as well, so don't let you lack of Airstream stop you from visiting. This is not just an RV park, it is a full fledged resort.

Less than an hour from our home, it feels like a vacation every time. Facilities are top-notch and Paul and Sarah and their staff are amazing. Airstream and vintage trailers only. Lots of room between sites. In some sites, you cannot even see you neighbors. Weekend meals and an on-site pizza oven are a treat. Definitely a "cut-above" most rv parks.

At first glance you could think that this park may be lacking in privacy considering all of the amenities. We found the exact opposite to be true during our stay from Monday, October 31st-Thursday, November 3rd. The first thing we noticed was how far apart the sites are, and they offer plenty of privacy. When we arrived on Monday there were two other couples staying on property and we saw them in passing but didn't hear a thing. The next day we saw one other camper at the lake while we were fishing & he left the next morning. Our last night at The Range found us camping alone ... It was a lot like boondocking with full hookups. We saw no one and the only thing we could hear were the coyotes in the distance at night.

I imagine that this property is hopping during the weekends and in season, but we found that it is also very peaceful and offers a remote feeling even when other camper are nearby.

The website is spot on when it comes to describing this park ... No embellishments. It's genuinely wonderful.

Simply stated, it doesn't get any better than The Range. We held our 40th wedding anniversary here (surprised my wife when family members were all here). This is her "happy place". The owners and staff are amazing. The facilities are incredible. Not cheap but worth it in this age of "stack 'em deep" rv parks. Feels like you are always among friends
