Our first time at this campground. I made reservations online in advance. We were greeted at the entry gate and directed to our site. Got here on a Saturday. It was fairly busy over the weekend, but still quiet. The park is patrolled regular and often. Interactions I've had with rangers and other staff was pleasant. Several good hiking trails. Easy access to the lake. A lot of people come here to boat and fish. You can rent paddleboards and kayaks here.

My site ("A"), is a dry camping site, was level and had plenty of space. Restrooms and showers were clean. Easy access to trash, water, and dump.

The park is fairly clean. But there is also trash here and there. We picked up two or three small bags of small pieces of trash on our walks. I don't want to make it sound like the park looks dirty or trashy, because it doesn't. But we are leave it cleaner than you found it types.

We enjoyed our stay and would come back again....

The dump station is easy to access, right behind the truck/rv lanes. On my visit they even had a good hose for the tank flush (non potable) water. The fresh/potable water is at pump 33, center island of the truck/rv lanes. I always appreciate Maverik for providing a great service at no cost.

I saw the reviews on this site, so we decided to give it a try along our route. Easy to get too and the security staff are very friendly and helpful. As previously reported, they take your driver's license and vehicle information and ask that you stay in the far (most southern) parking lot. I didn't even unhook. The spot I parked in was close to level. We ate dinner in the cassino restaurant. The food was excellent, and the staff super friendly.

I put out my starlink for internet. Cell service is good. Ran my generator for AC until sundown..

You do get some hwy noise. But, you are right next to a hwy...

Can't really go wrong here. As other's have stated, nice big parking area behind the Silver Moon Café. I've eaten at the Silver Moon before, but I was not an RVer. I've always recommended the Cafe to travelers. Now that I'm a fulltime RVer, the Silver Moon is even better!!!

Trucks and RVs are all welcome here. You can expect some highway noise.

As stated, this was my second over night here with my 5th wheel. Really cant go wrong. It's a convenient, free overnight stay that was mid point along my current trek. I make a point to dine at the Silver Moon. One, because they have great food and service, and two, because it's really part of the implied protocol in return for a free boondock opportunity. Even before becoming an RVer, Santa Rosa had been a mid point stop over, me staying in a local hotel. And I enjoyed dining at Silver Moon.

Yes trucks use it too, yes there can be a little hwy noise. But actually it's fairly quiet in my opinion all considered. Good cell service, and surprisingly over the air TV channels available.

I always appreciate the free overnight parking as well as good food and service at the Silver Moon Cafe. I use this location often on my east/west treks. You do get a little truck noise, but it's not bad...

Hats off to the staff here. When I made my reservation online, I was planning to travel a day earlier than I ended up traveling. The morning I made the reservation, I checked the local weather (northern New Mexico), and for points along my route. The weather was predicted as clear, and the winds low to moderate. Good to go!!! Right? I made my reservation that morning. By afternoon the forecast change, for my travel day, to snow along about half the route. I emailed Verde Ranch RV Resort, and explained the situation, and asked if I could move my reservation. (under policy I was not entitled to a refund.). I received a quick response, and my reservation was moved per my request. Check in was easy. My site is large, clean, and everything appears to be well maintained here. The location is close to shopping restaurants, and great site seeing locations.

You do get some highway noise. That's the only thing I have close to a negative. Not sure it counts since I was looking for something close to the hwy.

I'd stay here aging...

I'd been wanting to stay at this location for a few years. I finely got to make that dream happen. This was a fantastic stay. The staff at the wolf sanctuary was very helpful, accommodating, and informative. We did do the tour while we were there. I also sponsor one of the wolfdogs, and I had the opportunity to meet him.

This is dry camping, pack it in, pack it out for trash. I used my starlink for internet, phone etc. The market in Pine Hill has your basic groceries etc. You are reasonably close to many attractions.

Looks like they are doing some improvements to the campgrounds. I would encourage people to give this a try if primitive/dry camping works for you.

Not much I can say that has not already been said. This made a good stopover. We arrived about 3:30p, and went into the visitor's center. Staff there was friendly and helpful. The have a great walking path that goes behind the visitor's center and takes you to the conner standing area. We had dinner at Bojo's Grill. Bojo's was just "OK", but staff was friendly. I'd probably eat somewhere else next time. As for our night at the visitor's center, there was train noise as others have stated. But it's free, level, and clean, so I have no complaints. I'd have no problem staying here again.

First off, the open dirt field/parking area to the west of the visitor center is no longer available. The City of Winslow is building a new library there. I'm not sure if maybe some of that may become available to RVers again once the construction of the library is complete or not. However, the Visitor Center still offers/allows free RV parking, you are just restricted to the asphalt parking lot, which is not large. I'm fairly long, about 70' since I double tow, so it's a bit cramped for me. BUT, I spoke to the nice people at the Visitor Center, and they were fine with it, so I went forward with my plan to stay a night. I still highly recommend this location. You just can't hardly beat free. Just beware of the current situation...
