Overall this is a very nice campground. It is new with large spacious and concrete paved sites with full hookups. It is perfect for overnight stop overs as it is easily accessed from I - 65.

There are several amenities, including hall courts, playground, swimming pond & fishing pond. There is also a water park for an additional fee.

The grounds are well manicured with each site having a picnic table and fire pit. The campground is not large and most of the sites are in the Sun right off the road, so not necessarily somewhere I would want to camp for an extended stay. It does have quick access to shopping and eateries in Cullman. Would stay here again.

I researched all of the area campgrounds before landing on Riverbend. Sure, there are some campgrounds that are newer or have a few more amenities, but usually it was reflected in high prices. We spent a week at Riverbend during the month of October. We were fortunate to have a creekside site and was able to enjoy the Little Pigeon River throughout the stay. Also, practically zero highway noise even though we are less than 1/2 mile off the parkway.

I would absolutely dismiss the concerning reviews listed below. They almost scared me off. So glad I decided to give it a try. The sites may be close, but not as close as others I have found in Pigeon Forge. We had plenty of room. 80% of the sites are level concrete pads with a picnic table. Some of the sites not on the creek are gravel with no picnic table. All sites with the exception of a select few have full hookups, including Wi-Fi and cable.

Like some others have noted, their bath house is closed and they do not have a pool. If that is important to you, you should probably look elsewhere. But they do have onsite washers and dryers, ice, and trash cans located in the middle of the park. And the staff could not be more nice or accommodating.

The nightly cost is also very reasonable. We were able to stay for $45 per night, plus they offer military/first responder discounts. We look forward to many more stays at Riverbend in the years ahead.

This was our first time visiting Whitten Park. We spent five nights over the Labor Day weekend camping with family. While it was crowded as you would expect most places to be on a holiday weekend, it was a very pleasant experience.

The park attendants and hosts are very kind and professional. We had no problems with check in and they even allowed us to check in a little early when we arrived.

The sites are broken up into three different loops with some water-view sites in each loop. All of the sites are paved concrete sites. Most appeared to be somewhat level, however several are short or have a steep incline leading up to the pad, so bigger rigs should investigate before booking. All sites have water and 30/50 amp electric. There are 2 or 3 sites with sewer. I know site 19 had sewer connection if that is important to you. Each loop has a bathhouse facility with restrooms and showers. They were clean, just no a/c. A big plus is that most every site is in the shade.

The park boasts several paved trails for walking and biking. There is a long pier that extends out over the water for some good sight seeing or fishing. There is a playground at the front of the park, a adequate swimming area, a boat ramp, and the entire campground is level enough for bike riding. There is also a historical center connected to the park that is open Monday thru Friday, but we didn’t experience it.

The park is easily accessed from the interstate and there is a Walmart and several restaurants within a five minute drive. The cell reception was good as well. The only down side is the lack of more sewer sites. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

We had been trying to get into Gulf State Park for months, but it stays full. Now I know why. This is a huge campground with 496 improved sites, however it doesn’t feel cramped with adequate spacing between sites. Most sites are in the Sun, but all seem to be mostly level and all are full hookup. There are some beautiful water sites as well. The bathrooms were exceptional. Ours was recently remodeled.

The amenities were great as well with a large pool and splash pad available at no additional charge. The had a camp store with the essentials. Laundry mat was large with approximately 20 washers and 20 dryers. The nature center was nice as well.

Over on the day use side, they have the bike share program where you can use a park bike for free and ride the 28 miles of paved trails.

The staff were very nice and professional. Free parking at the beach and fires access to state park pier. We have already booked our next trip. Can’t wait to return.

Lake Guntersville State Park is a large campground situated on the banks of Lake Guntersville. Pretty much every site in the campground has some kind of water view.

The amenities were nice with a camp store, ball courts, play grounds, and a swim beach. There are also cabins strategically placed throughout the campground, they appeared to be new.

A tornado in 2011 took out most of the parks trees, so you are usually going to be in the sun. However, they have planted more, so there is every reason to believe that will get better over time.

The bath houses were large and very clean. They were also conditioned and had private shower stalls with doors and plenty of hot water.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Outside the campground, but still inside the park, there is a lodge with a restaurant, chalets, cabins, hiking trails, and zip lines. There are also large amounts of wildlife all throughout the park, easily seen.

The only reason this park does not get 5 stars from me is the fact that most sites are not paved and many are not level. Some are too close together as well, otherwise it is an ace.

This park is beautiful and has so much to offer. Canoes and paddle boats, beach for swimming, fishing, nice playgrounds and plenty of trails. However the campground itself has seen some better days.

Our site was on the water and had beautiful views, however the site was pitiful. The asphalt pad was so broken up that you could either let out your slide or be level but you couldn’t have both. The site had a deck due to a steep embankment which was narrow and limited the site space.

Sewer hookups are limited and I would recommend an extra sewage hose due to the placement of many of the hookup sites. I would exercise extreme caution booking sites without photos as many of the sites are in bad shape and can not accommodate rigs over 20 feet.

We were told that there are plans in place to renovate the campground in the fall. Should that take place, this place has the potential to be packed. The restrooms are dated but clean.

The staff at the gate were nice and accommodating. However, we had a less than stellar experience with one of the hosts. While not our best experience, we plan to camp here again in the future.

I grew up going to Dewayne Hayes. Compared to most campgrounds around the country, it sets itself apart.

Many positives. The gate attendants and park hosts were exceptionally nice and seemed to care if we were having a good time. The sites are large, paved concrete pads, 20x20ft pebble rock camping site with lantern pole, picnic table, grill and fire ring. Most sites are level and have generous amounts of space between them. Many sites are on the water and sites 1-13 & 64-76 have sewer. There is a dump station located at the front of the campground. All sites have 15, 30 & 50 amp electric hookup and water. There is a nice boat ramp with trailer parking inside the campground. There is also a very nice fish cleaning station available at no additional cost. There are paved sidewalk trails that wind through the woods. There is also a basketball court, swings and a playground for the kids. The road throughout the campground is flat which makes for nice bike riding. The bathhouses are strategically located throughout the campground. They are nice and cleaned daily. I would note that they are heated in the winter, but no A/C in the summer. There are four dumpsters at the front of the park for trash. There is also a day use side attached to explore.

Some things that could use some improvement. They no longer offer washers and dryers for guests. They don’t have a swimming area and the splash ground was closed as well during our trip due to flood damage last year. The road throughout the park is in need of resurfacing. The tent camping area is overgrown and unusable. Many of the water sites have no view due to lack of trimming and overgrowth.

There is quite a bit of wildlife writhin the campground. We saw armadillos, raccoons, squirrels, turtles, and even a beaver. A word of advice, carry your trash to the dumpster nightly, The raccoons are professionals here. Don’t leave trash hanging from your lantern pole or in the back of your truck…ask me how I know. Also the mosquitos can be a problem so come prepared.

Overall, this is a great campground that shines above most, but could use some TLC. I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our weekend stay at Tannehill Historical State Park. At $30 per night for full-hookup, it is a good place for an overnight or to spend the week.

The campground boasts three different sections, all of which have there pros and cons. Campground 1 & 2 are FHU, while campground 3 is water and electric only. 1 & 2 appear to be a little more tightly spaced and a little more crowded due to having FHU. Campground 1 & 2 also have multiple water sites on on the creek. I would highly recommend getting there before dark to set up, especially if you have never been before as I would imagine it could get quite confusing and some areas are more difficult backing in.

There are large bathhouses located throughout the campground. While they were somewhat dated, they were very functional and very clean. Each bathhouse also had laundry facilities. They have trails, playgrounds, a train for the kids, a creamery for your sweet tooth and also have a country store with some essentials.

Aside from the campground, the park is filled with historic buildings and things to explore. There are multiple streams that weave in and out the park and there several walking trails to enjoy. We were here two days and didn’t get around to seeing it at all.

The campground is all first come first serve, but I have been told it usually only fills up on trade day weekends. So check the website to see when those days are and I would recommend calling for availability before traveling long distances.

The staff were kind and professional and the park was immaculately clean throughout. Cell reception was spotty at times, depending on location. However we had no problems getting enough signal to stream all weekend. We look forward to our next trip to Tannehill!

This was our first time visiting Deerlick and we were very impressed. This is a very nice COE park. It rests on a bluff overlooking Holt Lake just outside Tuscaloosa. Far enough out to feel like your camping, but close enough to enjoy the shopping and restaurants of town.

All the sites appear to be mostly level, while some are more desirable than others. Many of the sites have decks and several have a water view. Sites 34 and 35 appeared to be the most desirable.

I would use caution booking any sites above 35 if you have a larger rig (more than 30ft). Very congested area with an extremely small turnaround. There is a swimming area and boat docks, but the trails to the docks are steep.

The bathrooms were clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No sewage hookups, but there is an easily accessible dump station. We look forward to our next visit.

If you are looking to get away and enjoy a quiet weekend, Corinth is the place for you. We stayed in the Yellow Hammer loop, which seemed to have more spacing between sites and more shade.

The sites are level with an asphalt pad and gravel campsite. Each site has full hookups, picnic table, fire pits with a grill and a lantern pole. The bathhouses are dated but overall adequate and clean.

The front gate is not staffed, however there are hosts on duty within the campground and they were attentive and professional.

Because the campground is on a bluff, there is limited lake visibility, however there is lake access and boat launch. There is also a nice swim beach in the day use area.

The one draw back for some may be the distance from town. I would recommend making sure you have the necessities before you arrive.

We definitely plan to stay here again.
