We stayed in the Chokecherry loop (site 16) for 12 nights. Great site and very long. Each site has a covered concrete slap with a picnic table. There is a fire ring at each site (we had to purchase firewood outside of the park). Electric and sewer worked fine. The water pressure was extremely low so we filled our tank each day and used our water pump. There was a nice hiking trail that was approximately 3.5 miles out an back and water access for boating, swimming, etc. There is road noise, but it was tolerable. We had a second vehicle with us and we were charged $15 a day extra (this was ridiculous). This charge along with the water pressure issue would prevent us staying here again if we had the extra vehicle and until the fix the water pressure issue (supposedly they are installing a pressure booster).

The grounds of this park are very well kept and the person that checked us in was nice. Our site was fine. All utilities worked, it was level, and long enough. Big playground if you have younger kids. A swimming lake and a couple of fishing lakes. Some nature trails. There is RV storage at the front of section of the RV site area that is an eye sore. We stayed here because it was close to Notre Dame and we wanted to visit the campus. We were up charged $10 a day for our 15 year old and $5 a day for our 13 year old. Irritating and bad business practice in my opinion. Definitely not worth $59 a night. As for the identity crisis...seems like this place doesn’t know if it wants to be an RV park or a trailer park. We would look for another place if in the area again.

Summary: Overall this is a pretty park along the stream with easy access to the hot springs, water park, and downtown. However, all things considered, it is an overpriced KOA. We only stayed one night so we could visit the hot springs. The park is laid out oddly due to the slope on one side and the stream on the other side. Not ideal for larger rigs. Expect some noise from the trains. We likely would look at other options if in this area again.
Sites (Length, Width, Level, Privacy): We were given site 69 (pull-through) but it was very unlevel and decided to move to site 67 (back in). Site 67 is a very level gravel site with some grass. It is right next, and I mean right next to several tent sites. Since it’s the offseason and not busy it didn’t matter to us. Site has a picnic table, grill (rusted out), and fire pit. The entire park has a lot of trees that would be helpful during the summer months.
Hook-ups: We had electric (50/30), water, and sewer. The water spigot and sewer are at the back of the site and the electric pedestal is in the middle. The water pressure was very good.
Amenities: The jumping pillow and snack stand were closed for the season. There is a small fenced-in dog area.
Activities: You are very close to the hot springs and there is a stream that runs through the property. There are a few places in town to rent tubes but not during the winter.
Staff: Friendly but probably not overly experienced with running an RV park.
Area: There is a grocery store (Mike’s) next to the KOA. We had pizza and beer at The Royal Hotel and Pizzeria. It was good. We also visited the hot springs, which was relaxing.
Reservations: Standard KOA reservation process. Online or phone. We called in since we were arriving later that day.
Access: Access is not ideal for a longer rig like ours. If it was the busy season it would have been a pain to make the turn into the KOA. Also, the interior roads were not ideal for longer RVs.
Cell Coverage/Internet (bars, wifi)/TV: We had 4 bars of AT&T LTE (not boosted) and great throughput. We didn’t use the park’s wifi.
Price: Overpriced at $58.88 (with the KOA discount) for what it is and the time of year (almost empty). Especially considering there is another KOA down the road a mile. Found it odd that KOA would allow two KOAs in such close proximity to one another.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The park itself is nice enough. Sights are wide with plenty of room for our large 5th wheel and truck. All the utilities worked fine. The staff was friendly. We didn’t use the pool or other amenities. It is very close to the French Quarter. A 10 minute walk and you’re in the heart of the action. This is why we chose this place (we stayed outside of town in the KOA last time we were in NOLA). The noise, especially all the sirens, is almost a show stopper for us. The park is right next to an elevated portion of I10 which causes some of the noise issues. But the police/fire/ambulance sirens were on another level. All times of the day/night during our stay. So, we would stay here again, but in non-Covid times when the KOA has their free shuttle running to/from the FQ we would probably consider that option first (half the price of this resort and much quieter).

We didn’t expect much in this area, but this was a surprisingly nice (and large) park. We would definitely stay here again.
Site: The site we were in (65) was long enough to easily accommodate our 42ft 5th wheel and leave parking for our truck. The site, while not overly wide, was level and gravel. There is a picnic table and some sites have fire pits.
Hook-ups: We had a site with full hookups and 50A. Utility connections were located basically in the middle of the site and worked well for us. Many sites have some tree coverage and some more than others.
Amenities: There is a pool, a snack bar, coffee shop, gift shop/store. With the exception of the store, these were closed for the season while we were there.
Activities: There are several miles of very nice hiking trails (the owners are adding more), a large frisbee golf area, playground, and sand volleyball
Staff: Super friendly staff. The owner was great.
Area: There isn’t much to do in Saint Regis, but there is a very cool travel center with a large gift shop, a café, coffee shop, and convenience store.
Reservations: We didn’t make reservations. We called ahead and was told there was no need to since it was offseason.
Access: The park was easy to access off of I90. The interior roads are wide and easy to navigate.
Cell Coverage/Internet: We had 3 bars of AT&T LTE. We did not use the park’s wifi.
Price: It was moderately pricy, but didn’t mind the cost considering how nice the park is.

No way this is a big rig friendly park. The RV area is a narrow road with a very small “cul-de-sac” at the end. We were in site 15 which is in the cul-de-sac. It was a 20 point maneuver to get the 5th wheel turned around and then backed in to the site. To even get to the sites there are many low hanging branches and some very tight bends in the road. Our site was fine for our 42 ft 5th wheel once we got into it. There are a handful of sites that will accommodate bigger rigs, but the dead end and the low hanging branches would prevent us from staying here again in our current rig. lThe RV area has 20/30 amp electric and water. The sites are paved and most have shade. The park itself is nice and the historical Fort Parker reconstruction is a couple of miles down the road (not part of the state park). There are some hiking trails, a swimming area, and a place to rent canoes. The town of Mexia is about 10 miles away and has grocery stores, fast food, wal-mart, and fuel.

We stopped here for one night on our way to California. The scenery was really nice. There are giant saguaro cactus throughout the park. Our site was level and had 50amp service. No sewer or water hookups, but there iis a dump station and potable water at entrance to the RV section of the park. The bathrooms were very clean. The park was virtually empty and there was some noise from the freeway, but not bad as the light wind drowned out most of the noise. We were really impressed with this park and would absolutely stay here again. Only reasons its not a 5 star is the lack of full hookups.

This is one of the best state parks we’ve stayed in. We’re were in a AAA (FHU) site with 50 AMP. The roads and sites in this section are paved. The site was long enough to accommodate our 42 ft 5th wheel and parking for our F350 DRW. The sites are extremely spacious, includes a fire pit and picnic table, and has a tent pad. The park is heavily treed and there is some maneuvering required when towing through the park, but nothing major. All the utilities worked great. The lake is beautiful and clean with several access areas from the campground. While we didn’t use the bath houses they were cleaned by the park staff multiple times per day. It’s about a 20 minute drive to the heart of Hot Springs and the cellular service (AT&T and Verizon) was very poor or non-existent in most of the campground. There are a few locations noted on the map considered cell phone areas. So it was a challenge to get work done, but not impossible. However, we would absolutely stay here again.

This should be the standard for all state parks. Paved roads and sites, full hookups, miles of hiking trails, fishing, off leash dog area, non motorized boat rentals, etc. Our site was perfectly level and very spacious (it appears most sites are very spacious). We were only able to stay 3 nights here but would have stayed longer if our plans allowed. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Summary: This is a nice state park with miles of hiking trails and close to Sedona and Jerome.
Sites: We snagged site 81 on a last-minute reservation. It was the only site available. It wasn’t ideal for backing in our 42ft 5th wheel but manageable. The sites are gravel and ours was level. There is not as much space between your neighbor and you as with some state parks but you are not on top of one another either. There are desert flora and dirt between and around sites.
Hook-ups: Partial hookups (electric and water). are available and the placement of the utilities is in the middle of the site. We had 50AMP at our site. I believe all RV sites have 50AMP.
Activities: There are miles and miles of hiking trails including the Lim Kiln trail connecting this state park to one outside of Sedona (15 miles). Additionally, there is an outfitter in the park offers guided horseback rides of varying durations.
Staff: The staff and volunteers that we interacted with were friendly.
Area: Cottonwood has a Safeway, a Wal-Mart, restaurants, fast food, etc. The historic town (ghost town) of Jerome is about a 20-minute drive and Sedona is 25 minutes.
Reservations: Call or online.
Access: Easy to get to with paved interior roads.
Cell Coverage/Internet/TV: 3 bars of AT&T and Verizon.
Price: The price is acceptable.
