Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on October 19, 2023The campsites at Lums Pond can be reserved online up to a year in advance. The sites are spaced out with plenty of open space and greenery around.
Not far away, in the same park, is a playground for the kids. We saw plenty of older kids and teens riding around the roads on bikes and families walking their dogs.
There wasn’t a check-in office, we just pulled up to our site and the paperwork for the site and the truck was there waiting for us when we arrived.
It’s a very quiet and spacious state park. It seemed like many of the locals come here on weekends for weekend vacation time. My kids made a number of friends at the playground, played soccer, and had nerf gun wars.
Starlink gave us decent speeds of 15 up 2 down, even with the tall trees around. Verizon on the phone was 3 bars. With the cell antenna, we got 4 bars of Verizon and 3 on AT&T.

Wonderfully maintained state park, voted best in Delaware, with full hook up at all sites. Sites are nicely spaced. There’s lots of trees but some sites are in full sun. Highly recommend site 31 for shade and privacy. It’s close to the road but there’s no one right next to you. Bathrooms are very clean. We learned the hard way the only firewood for sale is in the store that closes early (maybe 4:00?), so definitely arrive in time if you want a campfire! We stayed here to see some sites around Philly which is about an hour away. I quoted “true” price which includes fees.

Highly recommend this state park. FHU and lots of space. You really can’t go wrong with most of the sites. If you don’t like mosquitoes book far away from the water because they are savage when we were there in July.

Great stay! Super clean and tranquil park. Sewer hookup was near the front of the site 46 so our hose could not reach but everything was great.
Was strange that our reservation number and length of stay did not match the papers left at the site causing some confusion. Very quiet park

Stayed here 10/3/23 to 10/6/23. Clean and quiet. Nice shower rooms. Generously sized sites. Close to Wilmington to get to museums, etc.

Great stopover for New Englanders heading south. Convenient to US 301, which is a nice alternative to I-95. Nice paved interior roads, partially shaded sites, nice facilities. I just read they are closed until June of 2016 for major renovations.

A great place to stay, especially during the week (the weekends tend to get booked up). The sites are spaced out, but don't offer a ton of privacy (not much in-between them). They're all paved, but can be rather short feeling especially if you have a second vehicle to park.
Most sites are extremely level, except one (the one we booked of course - site 39). It was so unlevel that when we pulled in the park ranger said we'd probably likely want to select another site - and he was right. (They don't note this on Reserve America.)
After getting situated in a level spot however, we were quite pleased with the park. Lots of hiking trails, access to the C&D Canal (Lums Pond was instrumental in its operation).
All sites are also full hook-up, quite unique for a state park.
We had a very pleasant stay here, with ample cellular connectivity.

Lums Pond recently underwent a major renovation where all the sites got full hook-ups and paved parking pads. They also put in a brand new (much needed) shower house. During our first visit in the summer of 2015, we sweated through some 90+ degrees temperatures without the ability to turn on our air conditioning and endured the stinky, outdated showers. This time we happily used our full hook-ups and enjoyed our stay much more because of them.
Aside from the new improvements, the park is as lovely as ever with generously spaced sites (although there are no trees between so don't expect privacy) and great trails for walking and biking. It is s very popular park so be sure to make reservations if you want to stay during the summer or on a weekend at other times of the year. We showed up without a reservation at the beginning of November and while the campground was empty during the week when Friday rolled around it completely filled up and we couldn't get a site.

NOTE:
Took a recommendation off of this site and chose site 64 - I don't know whether they were here before renovations or what but site 64 has a generator and 4 yellow pillars sitting right in front of your camp side - Instantly went to camp office and was given another site, #25.
The staff at Lums Pond Park are great! Very accommodating, friendly and helpful!
The campground itself it quite baron as landscaping goes with no real separation between sites making it wide open to your neighbors. Sites along the back loop in the 30's seem to be a little more mature and less like a highway rest stop. Had rain the first day or so and site 25 was quite muddy for days due to lack of shrubs and grass. Full service sites are clean with all utilities working properly.
Nice looking lake, easy boat dock access and clean trails makes for a nice overall park. Little general store and liquor 2 miles up road. Verizon Service 2 bars on jetpack. Worked with no interruption entire stay.

We stayed for 2 nights and happened to have beautiful weather that weekend. Our site backed up to the pond (which seemed more like a lake) and we had lots of space! It was a beautiful and relaxing place to spend a weekend after a few busy days touring DC. We launched our kayak near the fishing dock behind our site and the water was calm and pleasant for kayaking. Verizon and AT&T worked well, and it was nice that the sites have full hookups and 50 amp. The only drawback was the rule that you have to park your truck completely on the pavement on your site and it cannot be on the dirt. That was very difficult to accomplish since we have a 40 ft. 5th wheel and large dually truck, but somehow my husband was able to make it work.
