We stayed overnight on site 78. It was difficult to find after dark, mostly dirt and not level. We didn't have to unhook but it was a squeeze to fit out 30ft TT and truck. The site had more room to one side, which was nice, but our neighbor's fire ring was located directly behind our TT. There was no water at the site. Verizon was much better than AT&T. It rained the day we were there so we didn't venture out to see the Fort or any more of the campground.

The attraction of this campground is that it is an island away from others that allows for peace at the beach. The sites are spacious and the natural foliage helps them feel secluded from your neighbors. The island and its roads are showing signs of wear and tear from the recent hurricanes but they have done an excellent job with the clean up. Because this is an island and far from the main land, it is a must to stock up before we arrived. You can't see the beach from the campground but when it's quiet, you can hear the ocean. This is one of our favorite state parks in Florida and many others must agree because you have to book a site far in advance. It is totally worth the trouble if you are looking for a peaceful place at the beach away from the crowds!

This state park is definitely a hidden gem in plain site! It is located in Aurora, just outside Denver, surrounded by the interstate but remains as peaceful and quiet as a park located miles away. Everything you may want/need is just a few minutes away. It has FANTASTIC biking paths, a beach on the lake, deer roaming freely through the campsites and a beautiful view of the mountains in the distance. We stayed on site 55 in the Pioneer Loop which was level with full hook ups, on a concrete pad, next to the bath house. It was a pull through off the side of the road as are all the rest of the sites in this loop. The state of Colorado requires an additional $80/year pass to any visit any State Parks and the interior roads here could use some TLC due to cracking in the pavement but those would be my only critiques. AT&T and Verizon both picked up very well.

This park is so similar to Cherry Creek State Park that you would think they were twins. This park has a great bike path and a beautiful lake. The interior roads have seen some weather and our site was really close to a busy road but it still manages to retain the quiet country feel in the middle of the city. Our site was level, we had decent internet and we had no issues with the utilities. I enjoyed our overnight stay here just as much and we are determined to return and stay longer.

We stayed one night on site 26 which we thought was near a small fishing pond. The pond, which is about 100 feet away, is actually a sewage stabilization lagoon. Most of the sites are very close together, on a hill, and extremely muddy due to recent rains, very small gravel and not enough of it. The site was electric only and no water hook up. We could not get a decent signal from either AT&T or Verizon. This was the most disappointing State Park we have ever stayed in and we will probably not return. There is nothing close by. Get everything you need, including water, before you set up.

Very nice park with spacious sites and nice views. We stayed in the Upper Wagon Wheel site 22 but wish we had stayed longer! The site was long enough that we didn’t have to unhook and the trees offered some much needed shade. We couldn’t see much of the river from our site but we had a nice walk around the campground. We would definitely return and stay longer!

This is a typical Colorado State Park with less amenities. The site was level but only had electric and the nearest water spigot was about 75ft away. The dumpsters are also located at the dump station. It has a short bike path around the small park and the added shade over picnic table was needed in the heat. The sites are placed far enough apart not to feel crowded and we enjoyed it enough to return.

Typical CO State Park: pricy (because of the pass they make you buy), clean and on the highway so there is traffic noise. We stayed on site 18 which is close to a water spigot that serves several sites, making our stay a little easier. While we were there, the river was very high and there was a daily risk of flooding even though there was very little rain. It was very hot without any shade but we still enjoy staying here and will again.

Old KOA that has been turned into a family farm. There is a donkey and a “petting zoo” with geese and ducks. There is no bath house, showers or laundry. The sites are large, level, pull through and full hook ups. It is on Hwy 2 so there is traffic noise but the nearby train doesn’t disturb as much as the traffic. They have really good wifi here through SpaceX and it worked well for us until storms came through the area. The town of Havre isn’t far away with plenty of places to eat or shop. We stayed on site 12, furthest from the main road, and had the park to ourselves most of the week. It seems to be a nightly stop for most travelers. Very friendly and welcoming family. We would stay here again.

The winds here happen often and can be extreme despite the surrounding hills. Be sure to tie down anything you don't want to blow away!
