I stayed off the 3rd road on the left instead of going to the official BLM sites. I did check them out and they were very small and cramped for even my 13ft trailer and truck. But the place I found was tucked back behind a little hill so I was invisible from the road. I had great Verizon and Tmobile signals. I walked around looking at all of the chert, chalcedony and agates, observing nice sunsets and just relaxing. I wanted to stay 2 weeks, but after the 3rd day I noticed something was coming down to my camper every night and poking around my setup. It sounded like something that was dragging a plastic bucket on the hard soil. I assumed it was a cow but whenever I got up to open the door and see, it was either under my camper or around the corner hiding, which told me it heard me getting up and hid from me. Not cow like behavior. I tried every night to catch it on video and all I could get was a blur and the sound it made as it scraped the ground and rubbed up against my camper. The 4th day I found an entire, in tact cow leg outside my camper. They 6th day I found the other three legs layed out as they would be in a cow was flat on it's stomach, in a circle, just outside my camper and the 7th day they were gone after hearing the scraping thing literally scraping on the back of my camper all night... I said NOPE and packed up and left a week sooner than planned. Except for being terrorized by some cow or antelope or person it was an absolutely amazing place to camp!

Location was good and There is good cell service for working online. But it wasn’t like camping, it was more of a big open dirt parking lot. Make sure you have the supplies you need before you come out here because the only stores are charging five dollars for sodas and gas is pretty spread out

I came here because there was supposed to be great service and plenty of space to camp. And I needed a place to stop and save money. I don’t know if you’re supposed to open Chevron‘s private gate to get back there but my GPS took me past the solar panel farms. And the road was almost undrivable. Clearly people have been driving on it because there’s plenty of tracks but they were literally poles and I had to drive on two rails of sand with gashes in the middle towing my trailer and balancing on top of them. Because there’s no way to turn around either. Oh and there’s deep sand if you don’t have four-wheel-drive. So I finally get to this place and I did see a couple of gates but they were all locked and there are signs everywhere that say not to touch the lake. You cannot get on the lake bed. There’s one parking lot for windsurfers and no one else is allowed I guess. There’s one garbage dump looking lot right up against Chevron‘s parking lot, covered in trash. I asked the people at the casino and the people at Chevron and the people I saw drive-by to the windsurfing spot and nobody had any idea that there was ever Boondocking or what I was talking about. I don’t understand Heathers 20 reviews and number one none of them mention the ridiculous Road, and number two nobody mentioned that there actually is no service here. Literally right next to a casino and there’s sometimes two bars of Verizon. And number three how did people leave reviews for a campground at all? If they change the seasons or whatever then how come nobody here knows what I’m talking about? How come all of the signs that are permanent say you cannot get on the lake? What a waste of my time and the last bit of money I had to put in my tank. I ended up parked between a couple of semi’s for the night and calling out of work tomorrow since I have no service. This is my first terrible experience with a Campendium spot.

I was disappointed I couldn’t camp on the creek because there were three massive trailers that were spaced far enough apart that no one could park between them and they had parked their tow vehicle in the neighboring spots so they pretty much took up the entire space. Then there were hammocks reserving four spots towards the end that no one ever came and stayed at as far as I could tell. But, you can’t really get any sun for your solar panels Creekside so it turned out for the best. I parked closer to the road in a flat sandy area with lots of greenery surrounding and it was private and pretty nice. The first night I was startled when cattle came through my spot to graze and I wasn’t expecting it but after two nights they didn’t come through again. It was easy to get into the creek and look at beautiful rocks and crawdads and cool off when I wanted, and it was a very short drive to the national park whenever I wanted. I felt like my stuff is pretty safe there. There is virtually no Verizon service even though it showed two bars but the T-Mobile service was good enough that I could teach English online every day I was there. Loud generators… All day and all night… By the people who are hogging the Creekside.

I plan to stay longer but I wanted to leave this review ASAP. Be careful on the sand! Today the third person in a van drove up and got stuck. The sand is far deeper than it looks and the area you can actually camp and drive to is very small. When you come in you’ll see the giant boulders on the right and there’s one spot there big enough for a large RV. Someone there right now has a 30 footer. Then there is a little road that whines behind the rocks with one more space in the right for a van, then a fairly big spot around back but there’s someone who apparently “camps permanently” so nobody can use that area ATM. The person leaves for work every day and asks everyone who comes not to park in the road so she can get out. I am in a truck and 13 foot travel trailer and I turned left instead and went up to the top of a small hill and found a spot that’s probably meant for car camping but worked in my 4wd and tiny trailer. Other than that the views are beautiful absolutely magnificent and it is so quiet. The T-Mobile and Verizon is extremely fast and great for working or teaching online. Make sure you bring enough supplies because there’s no store nearby for an hour. It’s only been a little windy. You can walk down into the old wash and see amazing plants and stone formations. I love this place

It was nice to have a place to stop and stay for two weeks that is close to town and felt very safe. The lakefront is closed for camping now and has been for a while regardless of the previous review in 2022 saying they were camped on the waterfront. It's overgrown and fenced off permanently. There is no cell signal down by the lake, the best signal I got was T-mobile up on the grass, about 100ft from the road. I had 3 bars of T-mobile and 1 bar Verizon. It was quiet for all the ATVers there. Beautiful views. I went up to Saratoga and sat in the hot spring which was amazing. There aren't any 'sites' like previous reviews have stated so Im not sure about that, unless they mean the parts where the grass is worn down from parking there, but it's an endless field with a little mountain in the middle that I climbed and got a great view from also.

All I really care about is the cell service and plugging into shore power. All the reviews say there’s three bars of T-Mobile and Verizon but there’s not. There’s one bar of Verizon. I’m gonna try to work with it but it’s really put a kink in my plans since I can’t refund and go somewhere else.

This was an easy quiet place to park and sleep for two nights. The parking lot is close to the casino, well lit, and paved. It’s on a hill so no matter what you will not be level. I checked in at the front desk with security and didn’t go back inside. Great Verizon for teaching online, OK T-Mobile for everything else

I arrived when it was dark and had trouble finding a place to park but I eventually did find a really good spot with lots of space that had a beautiful view of the mountains. It was really cold but that’s to be expected. Completely quiet all the time. Three bars T-Mobile three bars Verizon, I could teach online with both.

When I drove to moon rocks I was coming from California. So my GPS told me to take the roads that went straight from there to Moonrock‘s. But do not do that. Not only is the roads so bad that it’s essentially useless to anyone not in a monster 4 x 4, but when I got lost driving around these middle of nowhere mountain roads I accidentally drove down someone’s driveway under their property. And I was greeted by a man with a pistol. When I got out of there I finally found a way to get to a road that would lead me to the mountains and then it took me another entire hour to find Moonrock‘s because of the poor directions. You should take the road that goes straight up north from Reno. Do not go the other way. When I reached moon rocks The ATV area was extremely busy and there was no cell signal. So I kept driving until I passed that area and I saw the actual campground from Campendium. I just drove right in and parked even though nobody was there. In about an hour later to police came and told me that the area was closed for camping. I’m in the middle of the mountains at the end of the day and I told him that and they said that I could keep going straight and turn left at the next road and pull off the side of the road into a clearing and just camp there if I want. I stayed two nights because I needed to wait until I got my paycheck and then I left.
