I agree with the other reviewer. Its about a mile off Hwy 20 so no road noice - gravel road mostly smooth. Spacious sites with privacy. CG host pleasant and keeps the grounds clean. Toilet was clean. Recommend. The only "downside" for me was that it's still pretty far from west gate of YNP. Got internet, tho not fast but good enuf.

The area for Rvs lies right along the river (on the left side as you drive in). Tonight there are 2 Class C's, a minivan, and me. Tall trees provide some shading. There are no separate spaces per se, but with a bit of maneuvering several RVs can easily fit. Tent campers are down a ways and on the other side of the park road - very nice grass and shade trees to set up your tent. Many thanks to the town of Lander!

This CG is convenient to West Yellowstone. Host is congenial and keeps the cg clean. Some hook-up sites. Over half of the sites border the lake. My site was the most "private" and under a large pine tree but off the lake. There's not too much privacy between sites, and the loop road is dirt and had several potholes. I was able to get internet but YMMV.

I don't get the 5-star reviews. The CG is clean and well kept, but it's nothing special, and certainly not worth the price levels between $35 to $45/night. The showers/bathrooms are clean but they're 85 yards away. Not a big deal in and of itself (and frankly, many older campers could use the exercise), but not wholly convenient for the $$. The expo park is the local high school athletic field, so when school is in session it can be noisy with home games.

The host, Joe, is hospitable and keeps the C.G. clean. Normal rate is $20/night; $10 with Senior Pass.
There are 13 sites available, some partially shaded. Three vault toilets, trash cans at each site, and 2 potable water spigots. Propane can be had at St. Maries, about a dozen miles up the hwy. The c.g. is less than a 1/4 mile off Hwy 3 so the traffic can be heard, though it's sparse at night. Also, the c.g. sits on the St. Joe River which is only about 40-50 yards wide. There's apparently no speed limit or boat motor size restrictions. While the water traffic isn't all that busy, boaters tend to zoom up and down the river. Between the two, this isn't a place to come for quietness. That said, I can recommend it, though I think the full fee rate of $20. is a bit high.

While the drive along the lake is beautiful, the campground is nothing special. Just sites with no scenery and no cell. I’m glad there were no sites available when I pulled in. Drove to Bell Bay which is much more scenic. If you want to be near Coeur d’Alene, go with Beauty Creek. Bell Bay is an hour away with cell.

I gave it 4 stars because I think it's overpriced by $5. I frequently angle towards small town rv parking when I traverse the country, particularly west of the Big Muddy. Most are between $10 and $15/night and frequently have water at each site. I think this is the most I've paid in these town parks.
That said, I won't begrudge the town for 2 days; it needs to earn $ as all small towns do.
Note: The sites are back-to-back - they share the same pull thru. When I arrived (Memorial Day) the 3 RVs on site were pulled half-way thru on their respective sites, essentially blocking any arrivals from using the site. That could pose some hassles when the campground is busy. All in all, I can recommend this small park.
