Our 2-night stay here was Aug. 6-8, 2021. We were visiting Nebraska family members on our way north and then west. Victorian Acres was in the right spot between Lincoln and Omaha for us to visit them.

It's a very large RV park. We had a 30 amp full hook-up pull-through. Spacing between sites is about average. The sites are asphalt and fairly level with a picnic table. The grounds were nicely groomed. They don't mind the small rugs at the end of RV steps, but definitely don't want large mats to touch the grass.

The restrooms were clean, although older. The laundry room was clean and had a change machine (quarters) for $1 and $5 bills.

The dogs loved the play yard. On their first two times there, I kept them leashed, but dropped the leashes to let them explore. After that, their leashes were removed, and they did zoomies and kangaroo boxed. It was the first time they'd been free to run since leaving home.

When we got our RV back from a dealer's checkup, we took off like a streak for the Sallisaw KOA. We wanted to go to some place with no surprises, like KOA..

In late August, we found our stay very pleasant in a pull through under the trees. The mud that some reviewers wrote about was pretty much dried.

We were able to get quite a few over-the-air antenna stations and didn't bother to try the satellite antenna.

Driving in , we noticed a campground in the sun on the left side of the office. It's not on the campground map, but appears to be part of KOA with the same furniture on patio sites. It probably accommodates RVers who want to use their satellite antenna. Since it's on higher ground, they probably don't have mud/flooding issues.

The pros of the CG are: lots to do -- pool, volleyball, nature walk, tetherball, basketball, and a Gaga Pit(?); well organized; friendly staff; dog friendly with a small playyard, good site size and separation, morning trash pick-up, and short-order food delivered before 6:30 p.m.

Cons are: standing green water from a section of dried up Creek back toward the doggy playyard (but no mosquitoes that I saw). The deep foot- and pawprints in the hardened mud toward the dog yard make you know it's not a place you want to go after heavy rains.

But it was sunny and bright when we were there, and we had a good stay.

Friends planned a spur-of-the-moment two-day get-together in Marathon for Feb. 28 through March 1 (3 nights). We were all snowbirds a few years ago, living on boats in Boot Key Harbor for four winters. This year, my husband, two small dogs and I were in our RV. We'd contacted several RV parks. Everything was full -- or very expensive. We were extremely lucky to get a site at Jolly Roger just two weeks before the reunion. It was a new park to us. We were familiar with other RV parks near Marathon with crowded sites which were just a place to park. We thought that was what we were getting until we actually saw it.

Jolly Roger was a great surprise -- clean, neat, well maintained, well organized, attractive, with lots of activities there or nearby (Dolphin Research Center, for one). It is a destination itself. There is a large Tiki hut area near the beach and a tiny marina for fishing boats, a pool, a Bark Park, nice restrooms/showers, a pool and a laundry with new machines we didn't use. They seem to have planned gatherings weekly, like a wine and cheese social.

Site size is relative. We were in an Interior site (#61). It seemed a reasonable size to us in a hugely popular area. Our dogs chose this trip not to be friendly with other pups, so we mainly walked them on the grass near the entrance.

Cost is relative, too. This is a higher daily rate than we ever paid, but this IS the Keys in the high season. We were looking at paying twice as much at other parks (if they'd had an opening) for not as nice of a place.

We realized how lucky we were that they fit us in when our neighbor told us he'd called 700 times in order to book his site. He said to persevere.

We wish we'd been able to spend more time there, but left each morning to be with our friends. If life takes us back to the Keys, Jolly Roger is where we will try to stay.

Lake Park's customer service impressed me. Before we left home, the park called twice. The first time was to move us to a larger site because they thought our Class C wouldn't fit the one I'd picked and, second, to move us into a FHU site when it became available.

The RV park is quiet, clean and well groomed -- near a beautiful city park with a large lake and nice residential area. The sites are narrow, but well done. Lots of trees were around for shade (It was hot!), and it just seemed peaceful.

It has a Laundry Room, but no central bathrooms that I found.

We deserve "I survived camping during the Sturgis Bike Rally" T-shirts. We were the only RVers in the campground without a motorcycle or two. It was fun to see the biker community close up and the fun they had with each other. Except for the bikes coming and going, they were considerately quiet.

We used it as a base to be see sights in Rapid City. Just up the hill from the RV park is Chapel in the Hills, a stop not to miss. Lake Park could also be a base for seeing Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and other Black Hills sights.

We stayed here twice, February 25, and again on March 4, on our way to and from Florida. The rates shown above are for a full hookup and reflect a discount.

It's a gorgeous, relaxing place with Spanish moss-draped live oaks. It has spacious sites, a nice gift shop, clean, locked restrooms/showers, and a dog walking area in the back of the park near the lake.

The road noise was a little more lively the first night we stayed than the second. On the second night there, we tried to move the new, very heavy picnic table away from our neighbor's sewer line, but it was too heavy for the two of us to lift or drag. It was a beautiful table in the wrong place on the site. We didn't use it because of the sewer.

The staff was friendly. We will stay again when in the area.

Stayed at Arrowhead Lake Campground Wed., Aug. 4, 2021. This campground is owned and maintained by Johnston City. The city certainly does a good job keeping it mowed, neat and clean. There are quite a few stationary RVs, but they are neat, as well. Their owners were helpful, too.

Billie, the manager, showed us to Site 8 and told us about the two-and-a-half mile path around the lake. All sites appeared to be gravel. After settling in and setting up the satellite antenna, our little dogs and I walked around the lake. The trail was heavily graveled and hard on little dog paws. Other than that, it was a beautiful walk. The small lake is a fishing/kayaking/ paddleboarding/wildlife viewing/picnicking center of the community.

Back at our campsite, our tow car's battery had run down. We had a charger, but no heavy duty extension cord. One of the stationary campers loaned us one overnight, and our problem was fixed. That's what I meant by helpful.

The next morning, we got ready to leave, returned the extension cord, unscrewed the coaxial cable from the antenna and drove away. Yes, we left the antenna behind.

On the next night, we were in a wooded state park, not friendly to antennas. The following day at an open site was when we found we'd left the antenna behind. I called Billie. It seemed like the entire city helped ship it back to us. We thank them all for their help. We now walk the site before we pull out.

Our stay was Aug. 4, 2021. Since this is a U.S. Army Corp of Engineers campground, our rate was discounted by our senior pass. Seven Points Campground is beautiful and a great place to camp. It has spacious, fairly level sites in a forest, next to Percy Priest Lake. This park is much more of a destination than an overnight stay, as we used it. However, even us overnighters appreciate a nice place to stay.

It's extremely popular because it's so close to Nashville. For the sites next to the lake (marked "Beach" on the campground map), reservations need to be made far in advance. Even if they are filled, the lake is not that far from the most distant site.

If you are towing a boat, there's a boat ramp within the park. Kayaks and paddleboards could be launched from the beach area.

The night we were there, a Tuesday, there were small family gatherings. It was overall quiet.

We had a back-in site -- I believe that's all they have -- with water and electric. A dump station is near the entrance/exit.

Our only gripe -- not even a complaint -- is that Seven Points Campground departures are noon, but arrivals cannot check in until 3. We had to stall around before heading to the campground because of the late check-in.

We used the facilities in our RV and have no idea about the condition of the park's restrooms. The condition of the grounds of the park was clean.

Our first stay at Wes Watkins Campground was two years ago. It's still the same well mowed and maintained place it was then. The bath house still needs attention, but in this age of Covid, we use our RV facilities only.

The main difference between now and then is that more RVers have discovered it. We arrived around 3 p.m., and it was less than half filled. Two years ago, we were the only campers.

It has asphalt sites, not all totally level, with 50 and 30 amp. and water, pull through or back-in, shaded or more open, for $25 a night. Pay at a kiosk you pass on the way in. Pick your site first, then return to fill out the envelope, and insert cash or check, no cards.

It's next to a reservoir, well used for fishing and kayaking. The City of McLoud manages the campground, and the city police patrol it frequently. It feels safe.

A Fireside Express market is a short drive away. It sounds like a mini-mart, but it actually is much larger and has all the groceries, beverages or fuel you might want. We stopped on our way out to support McLoud businesses for making the park available.

Our stay was Thurs., Aug. 5, 2021. We chose Finger Lakes State Park as a convenient, reasonably priced overnight stop on our way to South Dakota. It was a forested campground, not large, with sites nicely spaced. The pad was asphalt, not terribly level. We were in the first loop with 30 amp. electric. Potable water was near the dump station.

Because of Covid concerns, we used our facilities in the RV and can't rate the cleanliness of the park facilities. The park as a whole seemed clean. It could use mowing.

It should have been a clue that we could hear a distant roar of four-wheelers and that our neighbors seemed to all be towing dirt bikes or multiple four-wheelers.

The land Finger Lakes State Park is located on was originally a strip mining operation for coal. Trees were planted and the land reclaimed for a recreational area. The park is one of two Missouri state parks that serve motor-cross and off-road bike lovers.

Praise to them for reclaiming the land for a useful purpose. It's just not a sport we want to be around. To each his own. That's why we would not camp here again.
