As others have said this is a great rv park. Easy access from the highway and close to town. Even though the highway is close there is no road noise as you are above the highway. We were forced to extend our stay because of axle/tire issues and had no problem retaining our site even though there was a concert at the venue downtown, and the park filled up that afternoon. Nice walking trail around the sports field next to the park. Every site has its own garbage can that the city employees service daily. Didn’t use the bath/shower rooms so can’t comment on that, but I’m sure they are nice and clean just like the rest of the park.

As others have said this is a basic no frills rv park, no picnic tables or other site amenities. Did not use the bathrooms, showers or laundry facilities so can’t comment on those. Only drawback to the park is there are goathead burrs EVERYWHERE!!! You will have at least a dozen in each shoe just setting up. Dogs won’t be able to walk more than a few feet without getting them in their paws. Park is close to town, 50/30/20 amp receptacles, other utilities work fine. Sites are gravel and close to level

A few reviewers have stated this area has a gate, fence, and is soon to be day use area only. I live in the local area and while there is a gate and fence this will not become "day use only". The gate is for power company/BLM personnel to access areas that are not open to camping. Foot/horse trails pass through this area behind the gate and fencing. The area behind the gate is, "DAY USE ONLY". Campers used to drive through the area behind the gate trampling foliage, etc. The desert takes many years to recover (if ever) from careless use. The fencing is to keep vehicular traffic out of the desert/trail/scenic areas of this trailhead. The fencing delineates the roadway for traffic and camping. The area for camping, parking, etc., is about 300' by 600' with a pit toilet, educational signage, trailheads, and horse tie up areas. The door on the pit toilet is bent and the door knob removed. The door was probably bent during a high wind event ( we have lots of them) when someone didn't latch it closed after using it. I'd hate to think someone deliberately destroyed the door, although that is not out of the realm of possibility, unfortunately!

Easy check-in over the phone. Sites are level gravel on 3 different levels. We were the only transient in the park, looked like there were 8 or so long term residents. The long termers kept their sites looking good. Graasy areas were mowed and weed free with no sand spurs!!! The dog was happy about that! Due to Covid issues did not access showers, laundry, etc. Would stay here again!

This is a nice place to spend the night or two. Only downside is there are thorny weeds everywhere. Thorns are 1” long, but they were still green and soft on 4th of july weekend. When these dry out they will be deadly!!

This is an older park with a few full time residents. A nice younger couple are in the process of buying the park with plans to make some much needed upgrades. The plans include leveling and graveling the sites. The on-site restaurant serves excellent fresh dishes! This was my second time staying here, only because it is kind of “out of the way”. The Banderas Caldera and ice caves as well as El Morro National Monument are nearby! The 2 pull through sites are long enough for any rig, I’m 58’ and had PLENTY of room.
