A reasonably pleasant spot for camping with others, or alone if you happen upon it and it's unoccupied. We stayed 3 days (2 nights) in September 2020. While we had planned it as a group camping trip with two other families we ended up being the only ones who could go.

Note that if it isn't reserved by a group the information sign says $5 a night; presumably if you rolled up and there was space (and no group reservation) you could stay there quite cheaply.

There is no water (well, unless you feel like treating the creek water) and no electricity but there is a standard, USFS pit toilet. There is a group area with a table or two tables, benches, a fire pit, etc. The main "parking area" is level and quite large; you could fit many vehicles should you so choose.

The site shade with mature evergreens and is next to a creek (watch your little ones). All in all, a pleasant location despite the fact that two-lane highway 31 is right next to it.

We stayed here on a Friday night on October and were completely alone. The reservoir at the time as very low and we found a flat spot some ways out from what is probably the "typical" shoreline. (Flat spot meaning we didn't unhitch or do anything to level the trailer because we were already perfectly level.)

There is a parking area containing a pit toilet; the area around the toilet has space for several RVs. However, we took the road leading west and downhill from the pit toilet area and then turned toward the reservoir. As long as it's not completely dark you won't have any problem finding a place just about anywhere. Note that we didn't head into the sandy area (which is probably normally covered by water) out towards where the low water was. I walked out there in the morning and it was a little softer than what I'd be comfortable dragging a trailer onto.

Note that this is dry camping. There is no water available here, nor is there a dump station. There are dump stations at other areas in the recreation area and in Fallon (18 miles east).

The entrance road may be a bit tricky to find; there isn't a sign readily visible from Hwy 50 (and the sign that exists isn't visible at all if you're heading east). The coordinates of the entrance (from maps.google.com) are 39.457893, -119.082608. If you driver past the entrance heading east (like we did) you can turn around a few hundred yards down the road.

According to the state website dispersed camping is allowed anywhere along the shore so there is plenty of space. For non-Nevada vehicles the "entry" fee is $10 and the camping fee is $10 so we put $20 in an envelope and put it into the steel pillar near the entrance. The fees noted above are from the sign at the entrance (or maybe the envelope - can't remember for sure). Looking at the state's website the numbers are different (camping is more).

This is a great overnight spot close to Ely. There is a large, gravel area that should be able to fit several RVs. Note, however, that the area is longer than it is wide. We backed our trailer into place so we wouldn't have to
back out if someone else showed up (no one did - we were along on a Saturday night in late October). We also didn't back up all the way to the back where the picnic tables are because we found a perfectly flat spot farther out.

There are two picnic tables with wind breaks and trash cans by each table. There is no water, dump, or toilet.

This is fairly close to Hwy 50 so you'll hear the (sparse) traffic; we didn't find it bothersome in the least.

The signage at the trailhead doesn't say anything about camping; however, the BLM website for Egan Crest Trailhead has a camping symbol under the listed activities.

Note first that "Wild Iris" is how rock climbers refer to this area of limestone cliffs in the mountains south of Lander. It's likely that everyone else you see in the area will be there for the climbing.

That said, the lowest level of the abandoned limestone quarry is a great place for RVs. When we stayed there (for climbing) two nights in June, 2019 we had a rented 25' class B+, one set of friends had their 25' class C, and the other set of friends had a 16' (or so) travel trailer. As you can see from the photos there is plenty of room. However, levelness varies and there are rocks strewn about; you might spend a few minutes finding the most level spot and you'll still need blocks, ramps, etc.

There are also two higher levels of the quarry wide enough for car- and van-camping.

There are no amenities (other than a pit toilet near the climbing parking area). There is no water. In addition, be aware that you are in the mountains at almost 9000'. It snowed on us during the day at the summer solstice in 2019 and was quite cold at night.

I can't recall for certain but I'm pretty sure we had ok T-Mobile service with internet.

(We have a 25' travel trailer now; haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure we would be able to get it in and out of the quarry area without a problem.)

If you're tent camping the Forest Service campground across from the climbing parking area is probably a better bet.

Secluded spot not too far off the highway. Occasional train noise, a little bit of highway noise when everything is very quiet. Trains don't bother us but I put 3 stars for noise for those whom such noise is bothersome.

Good T-mobile service (5 bars, LTE).

Cottonwood and Russian Olive trees. Was a pleasant place to stay overnight. Probably wouldn't stay longer unless fishing or doing something else in the area.

We came in late (10:00pm), found an open spot (full hookups), and paid the next morning (per the sign on the storefront).

No complaints; it's an RV park like many others and seems to have decent facilities. However, all we did was pull in, sleep, and pull out so I can't comment on laundry, bathrooms, etc.

Great overnight spot 13 miles west of Tonopah on Hwy 6. Maximum stay is 18 hours as at all Nevada rest stops.

To get to the overnight RV spots drive past the grassy area on the right (it may not be obvious that the entrance road continues if there are automobiles parked - I chickened out and temporarily parked in the day use parking and walked over to make sure we could continue). The road is a one-way loop so you won't be coming out the same way you go in.

The overnight area is a large, paved and gravel area with sufficient space for 10 or more RVs (more, if carefully parked, but it is just a big, empty space with no markings).

There are a number of what appear to be more-or-less level locations for RVs of all size. The site at which we stayed required only a small bit of leveling.

The views of the surrounding country are great. We didn't really notice much highway noise, but we pretty much just stayed inside (it was December and, although almost 60 degrees while the sun was up, the overnight low was 16 degrees and the temperature drops fast when the sun goes down because you're at 5000 feet, more-or-less).

Be aware that the turn off from the highway is not signed (that we noticed) so pay attention to your GPS and watch for the side road.

Stayed overnight at the first site on the left driving in (not by the pit toilet). Arrived on a Saturday evening in July about 7:30 and no one else was there. Bugs as one would expect. Site is level near the picnic table.

Only two other vehicles drove in (both apparently fishermen) during our 14-hour stay. Some minor road noise when the (very) occasional car drives passes by on the paved road nearby.

Like many RV parks the sites are close together, but if you're stopping for the night based on location rather than amenities that's pretty much what you expect.

The site we had was a gravel pull through and mostly level. Hookups in the normal location; everything worked. Staff was professional and courteous. Got in late and left early; didn't check out any of the facilities but if they're like the office then everything is clean and neat.

It's between I-70 and RR tracks but I don't remember hearing either, which probably is more a reflection on me than the site.

We stayed the night of July 4, 2020 so the prices were high and the park was completely full.
