Note first that "Wild Iris" is how rock climbers refer to this area of limestone cliffs in the mountains south of Lander. It's likely that everyone else you see in the area will be there for the climbing.

That said, the lowest level of the abandoned limestone quarry is a great place for RVs. When we stayed there (for climbing) two nights in June, 2019 we had a rented 25' class B+, one set of friends had their 25' class C, and the other set of friends had a 16' (or so) travel trailer. As you can see from the photos there is plenty of room. However, levelness varies and there are rocks strewn about; you might spend a few minutes finding the most level spot and you'll still need blocks, ramps, etc.

There are also two higher levels of the quarry wide enough for car- and van-camping.

There are no amenities (other than a pit toilet near the climbing parking area). There is no water. In addition, be aware that you are in the mountains at almost 9000'. It snowed on us during the day at the summer solstice in 2019 and was quite cold at night.

I can't recall for certain but I'm pretty sure we had ok T-Mobile service with internet.

(We have a 25' travel trailer now; haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure we would be able to get it in and out of the quarry area without a problem.)

If you're tent camping the Forest Service campground across from the climbing parking area is probably a better bet.

Ideal for campers, adventure vans, the like but can find flat areas for tents as well! There were only 2 other people when we got there at 8pm on a Monday and more rolled in later at night. Absolutely stunning sunset on the limestone walls and not windy until a slight breeze in the morning. Only a few bugs, but nothing you can’t deal with. You can continue up the road for more spots, but the quarry shelves are definitely the best/prettiest spots. Had 3 bars LTE Verizon on the edge of the walls.

Loved this spot! Protected until the quarry from the Wyoming winds with beautiful views and quick access to amazing sport climbing. As a bonus it is right next to an AT&T cell tower provided flawless service for a full day of zoom calls despite only showing 2-3 bars. T-Mobile shoes 4 bars but horrible up/down speeds. The road up is steep but doable without 4X4 and clearance wasn’t an issue in my Promaster. Pit toilets available.
