Great state park, 23 miles outside Steamboat.
Super quite, spacious sites, some with views of the lake.
It was sooo relaxing!
Wind at night time was a pain but we realized it was because our site had no trees for protection but we had a view!
Sunrise Vista has bigger sites and more space between sites. Also views!

Beautiful place with amazing views BUT there is nothing to do there unless you can boat! The water level was super low and the wind was savage. Amazing Tmobile signal! The road to get to it is a washboard, shakes everything!

We were spoiled with the site by the creek. It was a pull through which made it easy to get in and out. We had a lovely share by the trees in the morning and the trailer itself was our shade in the afternoons.
The laundry was clean and perfect for what we needed.
Easy access to town but far enough to be away from it. You can hear the highway noises though.

I was a little nervous with going there but just follow the gps coordinations and it will work.
We pulled in and had a great spot immediately. It was a little unleveled so be prepared to do that.
Views were magnificent!
Some road traffic but did not bother us.
The sunset was spectacular.
The wind... OMG, the wind was horrendous! All night long!
Still worth it!

We stopped here on our way back to Colorado and wow. Easy access, easy to spot a place to park, great views!
You can hear the i80 down the road but with some music on, you can forget about.
I was looking forward to see the horses but there were no show.
The wind though, OMG! They are something. We had a quick thunderstorm and seeing the lightning from up there was awesome!
Highly recommend it.
Ok for big rigs!

One of the best campgrounds we've ever stayed. We had site E116.
Picnic table, fire ring, a lot of space for your to spread out. Didn't need our gazebo for shade because of trees.
It's dry camping so no services - it didn't matter for us because we have solar and we had plenty of sun getting to the trailer.
Bathrooms have flush toilet (no showers) - super clean.
Bear boxes available - they are strict on not leaving things around for the animals so please be respectful.
There was a little trail to get to the beach where we had a great time.
We walked around the RV Park where they have full hookup and it's a car park, people were literally parked on top of each other with no privacy. I would not swap our dry camping spot for a space at the rv resort.
I am definitely coming back!
Limited Tmobile signal, Verizon worked better. Wifi available from main buildings like restaurant.

The KOA is just outside town but you can easily get back to it.
We had a great checkin experience. Apparently we were assigned the worse site (we had one of the back ins) right next to the mobile site and the guy moved us to the best site on the same loop because we were staying for 4 nights. That made a huge difference because we ended up having shade during a lot of heat and it was super quiet. We had dear and wild turkey coming by.
There is a mobile park behind the KOA and they use the KOA to go in and out. They keep to themselves but it is a strange setup.
Grounds are even but there is a lot of weeds. I also picked up trash from the grass.
If you need internet, don't bother staying there. We needed to work, the wifi at the park is not good and signal is poor. We had weboost and we could just about work and watch tv.

I was nervous before I came because I never done dispersed camping but the reviews here made me think it would be ok.
We got here the Thursday before Memorial weekend and we were able to find a gigantic site for us and our friends towing an Airtream Basecamp.
Lots of space for us to enjoy and appreciate the nature.
The only complain I have is that we were by one of the main roads (a site within a few minutes off the second right turn) and we had a lot of traffic driving by which caused a lot of dust on our rigs. So make sure to drive a little further to get a more private site, it's definitely worth it!

We needed a quick stop before our next location and we knew about this place since we like staying at Hecla Junction but we never stopped to check it out.
We are so glad we did it.
They have redone the place, it's clearly signed and they have built allotted sites for you to park. There are 3 right as you turn (close to the road and minimal shade) but as you drive in, you will see more.
We parked at the first site on the right that you back in. There are two next to each other.
Please note that the road isn't the best so take it slowly there. More sites towards the end but it's say it's more for tents, vans, or small trailers.
We have a 27' foot trailer and we had plenty of space.
You will need to level the trailer.
You can hear the road noise but once we put some music on or go inside the trailer, you can't hear anything.
Cell signal is bad.
