2/25-28/2018 Access to this area was just off of Hwy 89A. It starts immediately with a gravel road. The washboard is mild to just moderate. There is a day use area shortly to the right that you can drop your trailer to scout for a site if you care to. The first camp area is .6 mi. from the Hwy on the right. There is space for several rigs and ample area to turn around or drive through, The entry and exits are a bit rutted out but not a problem unless your rig has very low clearance. There are good views of the red rock. The next camp area is 1.2 mi from the Hwy on the left. Washboard is moderate but OK if you go slow. The road is wide and not busy. This site has comfortable room for 3-4 rigs of moderate size (trailers <35’) but no pull through access. If there were several rigs already there it could be a problem turning around with a trailer. The views are better here. The third and last camp area is 1.7 mi from the Hwy on the left. The washboard gets worse with moderate hills. This area would be best for medium sized class C’s or car/tent camping. Views are not as good but it is more secluded. All the sites are pretty clean considering it is free BLM camping. For the most part all sites are fairly level. We stayed 4 nights at the first area. Only 1 other RV for 2 of the days. There were some tent campers that seemed to be local homeless type but they kept to themselves, their dogs were friendly and they caused no problems. There was no Hwy noise and the tent campers were not too loud but you could tell they were there, I would not think twice about staying here again if visiting the Sedona area. Sedona is only about 15 min out and about the same in the opposite direction for Wal-Mart and all that goes with it. I had 3 bars on Verizon and was able to stream Netflicks using iPhone hotspot with no issues.

Park was about 2 miles or less from the highway. Road was paved all the way. Stayed overnight in a pull through site. Park was clean and had about 15 campers on a Friday night. Had full hookups and was able to charge up dump and be ready for several days of dry camping in Moab. Laundry and office closed a 6:00 pm. Beautiful scenery and sunrise at the campground. Good campground to stay at between Vermillion Cliffs and Moab. Perfect place to explore Monument Valley.

There are 8 campsites in this CG all dry camping and all have a table and fire ring/grill. Seven of the sites are back in up to about 35’ and site #4 is a pull up site that could handle just about any size rig. Sites 6&7 are good for 20-22’, #9 will accept any length and has a 50 step path to the table and fire ring. The area was was very clean. Pretty much all gravel. Our site was as level as they come. The highway is adjacent to the campground but there is little traffic and not much noise. No reservations, first come first serve. We stayed in #3 for 4 nights. Can’t beat the views. Just about 15 min to Moab, 45 min to the visitors center at Canyonlands NP and 12 min to the visitors center at Arches NP. There is a hiking trail across the road to Corona Arch (1.5 mi out and back) that is good. There are train tracks across the road but when they come by (very infrequent) its just a low hum and no whistle. Two other campers on Saturday night and one on Sunday night, none on Monday and two on Tuesday. There is a group campground (same name) just past this one and there were 2 groups there on the weekend. There are 4 group sites there and quite a bit of parking. The group sites are $20 a night minimum (or $5 per person). They do take reservations for the group sites and they post a calendar with the reservations to see what is available. There is a big dumpster for trash at the group CG. There are several pit toilets (very clean) between the two campgrounds. The Colorado river is right next to the campgrounds. Best 15 bucks ever for a campsite.

This was our first shot at boondocking and this spot will be hard to beat. Arrived late on a Wednesday afternoon and were able to find a spot up top in the "group" area. Clean, level and a view to die for. This group area was like a small community. My wife was comfortable with me leaving her alone when I went off hiking for hours. Everyone gathered at the view spot for sunset each night to enjoy the view and shoot the breeze. Every time you thought you got a good photo another even better perspective would deveop, just amazing. Sunrise was also nice but not nearly as dramatic. The group area was a large semicircle that campers stayed away from the opening to the view (west). We did have the unfortunate experience with campers next to us that were upset that we took away their wiew when setting up next to them. They felt that even though there was room for at least 4 large camp spots between them and the view that no one should use that area. As I told them if it wasn't me it would be someone else, you just cannot claim that much open space. Just as I suspected all 4 sites were taken each night with different campers. Luclky for us they left the next morning as they were continually rude and childish. EVERYONE else was super friendly. If you wanted to be away from the group there were pleanty of other spaces available, some with and some without the view. We pulled a 29' TT up there with no issue, just go slow. When we come back again I would not consider anywhere else for the Grand Teton NP. Had several bars with Verizon but data was poor.

Access is dirt road not too bad for the first sites which are many. The further down the road the ruttier it gets but if you go slow you will be ok. Not much of a view but what do you want for $0. Good distance between established sites with easy turnaround. Basically its a wide open plain. You wont get locked in. Hard telling how it would be when it rains. We stayed 2 nights and had a windstorm with a magnitude of 11 out of 10. Thought we would wake up in Oz. The day we left it was as calm as could be. We were there during Presidents Day weekend and there were about 10 campers but very spread out. The NP was less than 1/2 hour away, about 45min to Jumbo Rocks. The area was fairly clean with minimal trash. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy much because of the wind but I think what we experienced was an exception. I’m sure there is wind here but not this much. Definitely would stay there again when in the Joshua Tree NP area.

Road is a bit rough and uphill. Few big areas to turn around, however I did see a huge motor home back into a tight site in the dark. We stayed .3 mi in, best site was .6 mi in (flat, no rocks and easy turnaround) and rougher road but doable if your brave. Most sites are fairly rocky. Nice views.

Road in was just over 1mi. A bit bumpy but no worries. One deep rut near the campsite, just go slow. Site fairly level and easy access. Seems we camped next to a pet graveyard. Not much wind on this stay. Good view of Laramie. Gunfire just a bit up the road but not a concern. One camper came in next to us after dark and saw just one other on the way in. Good place for an overnight stay.

Stayed overnight (3/1/18) in site 40 (pull through) and the view was amazing. Sites on the perimeter facing the river were also pull through and even better view. There were about 6 campers on a Thursday. There is a dump station about 1/4 mile down the road (only dump in winter) water was off. The Lees Ferry River Walking Tour was an easy hike. Went up about what seemed 1/4 the way of the Spencer Trail (ran out of time). The guide says that it is not maintained but it looked pretty good. Serious switchbacks with a 1700’ elevation gain right up the cliff wall. The drive by Vermillion Cliffs was nice. Would definitely stay here again and hope to have more time to go deep into the Vermillion Cliffs as well check out toward the Dam and Lake Powell.
