Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on April 23, 2024We were at: 32.206763,-104.337250. Absolutely beautiful. Just 15 minutes from here to the Caverns - close to the highway - there are a few spots just off of Hwy 62 - we parked about 3/4 mile up the steep, rocky road, and didn't hear highway traffic at all. It was windy up there, but lovely. We took a long walk up the road from our spot and found a neighbor (car camper) and then another awesome spot that we will try for next time: 32.205886,-104.349736 a huge site with AWESOME views over Goat Corral Canyon. On our walk we stayed on the road, because it was close to sunset, but I think hikers will find great scrambling down to and in Fence Canyon (on the right side of the road) and Goat Corral Canyon (next canyon to the northwest). Next time we're here we will stay a few days.

Steep road coming up but plenty of different spots to park that are fairly level. Very close to National Park. Would recommend for a 1 or 2 night stay. Be sure to get there early enough in the afternoon to grab a spot as it is quite a popular destination.

Came here at 4 pm on a Wednesday. Drove up slowly as the road was steep and really rough, drove past a few sites and chose one a bit away from the highway. Big site nice fireproof, ton of ants, glass, but no big deal. At least I hope it's no big deal. We shall see if I'll be killing ants over the next few days. All food in the rig is sealed.

We camped two nights at top of the hill while visiting the national park. There is a lot of gas production infrastructure surrounding the area (3 pads in in sight of camping location) which gives a bit of an industrial feel. But there were no other campers within our view and nice Chihuahuan desert plants all around. The first night had low cloud cover and traffic, drill rig and pressure relief equipment on gas production pads was loud. Second night was clear and very quiet. Can’t beat the location for access to park.

It was a rough road to the top, we pulled our 30ft travel trailer, but once up here and parked, the views are spectacular. We’re 10 minutes from the enterence of Carlsbad Caverns. No town nearby. Can see a lot of gas lines burning across the horizon. Some cactus around, had to keep a closer eye on dogs and kids. Stars are amazing at night.

About 6-7 campsites spanning up the road. All suitable for 30’ trailers. Most if not al have fire rings. Sites fill up by sunset so get there early if possible. Road up has some rough areas. We have brought up our Jayco Hummingbird a few times now pulled by our Tundra TRD Pro with no issues. Close to White City and Carlsbad NP about 40 min or so North of Guadalupe Peak NP as wel

As some of the other reviews state- yes a little rough uphill drive getting in but doable. We made it fine with an expedition and 20ft travel trailer. Went to one of the furthest sites from the highway and we loved it. Came around 5pm in a Saturday and were the only ones here. Fire rings, amazing views, and even more amazing stars. 10 minutes from Carlsbad Caverns. On our way to the caverns we passed an RV park packed with people side by side on basically a parking lot and laughed because we had the best site in town and didn’t pay a cent! Highly recommend! We enjoyed our stay, but didn't know the condition of the road. We were towing our 22 foot Travel trailer and went a little further down (up) the road to get away from the highway noise. Everything went fine, but there are some rocky areas where you definitely need to watch your tire placement when towing a trailer. Where we were there wasnt much noise and we had a nice view.... And you can't get much closer to the caverns for free!

Road is a bit rough and uphill. Few big areas to turn around, however I did see a huge motor home back into a tight site in the dark. We stayed .3 mi in, best site was .6 mi in (flat, no rocks and easy turnaround) and rougher road but doable if your brave. Most sites are fairly rocky. Nice views.

We stayed in the 4th site, which was fairly level. However, there is a larger completely level site further up. We are in a 30ft camper and didn’t want to venture further up the road. It’s very rocky and had lots of areas where the road has been washed out. You have to be brave hearted and take it very slow. There’s not many places to turn around either. With that being said, we loved our stay! We only saw a couple other campers during our time there and we hiked 8 miles into the BLM land. It’s gorgeous! We got a visit from a game warden who was very nice and welcomed us to the area. It was nice to see someone patrolling the area. We would definitely camp there again!
