The campground seemed to be mostly long term campers but it was convenient with easy access just off Interstate 20. Minimal noise from the highway. The campground should accommodate any size rig.
There is not much in Eastland and it is between Ft Worth and Abilene but it made an ideal stop enroute back to Missouri.

We were looking for a place away from crowds and traffic noise. Smugglers Roost proved to be the perfect setting with Mountain views and dark skies at night. We chose to purchase campsites here and make this our regular winter destination.
We spent most of the winter here. As many others have noted the staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. The facilities are the cleanest I've seen anywhere. This is a large campground so your experience may vary as campers come and go.
Some have noted poor internet access and cell service. Sites further up the hill in the pull throughs have much better service. We had to move when a large class A pulled into the site next to us and blocked the signals. We moved from that site which was in the lower section to one up the hill not far from the office. We had no further issues with internet using both Verizon and T-Mobile. Internet access in the club house is much better than anywhere else are there are network jacks for a direct cable connection although I didn't test those.
There is also less road noise up the hill.
The only negatives we experienced were people walking through the camp sites rather than around the road and some concern for the number of kids playing in the streets unsupervised. None of this is the fault of the campground. Quiet time was observed throughout our stay. The only issue we had a all was a group near us for a weekend was drunk, loud, and profane but even they were quiet after 10.
We would highly recommend this campground even though you do pay a little more for this one. Pull through sites are 75'X30'. Views are outstanding. We did not use many of the amenities preferring our camper to the public showers and do not use public pools.

We stopped here for 3 nights on the way to Camp Verde Arizona. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. A continental breakfast was included. We arrived during the Albuquerque Baloon Festival so the campground was packed. Lot sizes were adequate and access was easy. The only negative was the train coming through town during the night. However, we quickly grew accustomed to it and was not a problem.
A dinner service delivered to your camper was offered. We did not try it as we tend to be out during that time.
Overall I would highly recommend.
The Ice Cave and Volcano attraction is just down the road and we’ll worth seeing.

Access from I-25 could not be easier. Sites were well laid out. We had a great view of the sunset every evening. The facilities were exceptionally clean even satisfying my wife that hesitates to do laundry in a public laundry. Check in was quick and easy with great service from the staff.
Location is just outside of Santa Fe but only a short direct drive into town making it very quiet. The only noise we experienced were fellow RV'ers coming and going. I would highly recommend this campground while in Santa Fe.

The distance from Carlsbad worked to our advantage since we used this campground as our base for visits to Roswell and Ruidoso in addition to the cave. The sites were well spaced. We were next to a group site which was unoccupied for the last half of our stay.
The staff was friendly and efficient. Given the proximity to the playground the campground was very quiet. We had a great stay there in spite of temperatures hitting 108 with wind and dust. We plan on returning.

The only complaint we had was the poor markings of the camp sites. It took us a bit to find our site and wound up on one no outlet road. However, once past that the camp sites are great. Very few have water hookups but when we were there water was off for the winter. Nice spacing between the sites and very quiet at night.
We are looking forward to returning again during the normal camping season.

Halfway between Oklahoma City and Dallas this is a great park. All concrete pads, paved roads and well kept grounds.
Upon arrival the office staff had our checkin ready and we were in our site in minutes. Sites are level with space for 36’ fifth wheel plus my truck and an extra vehicle. This will become a regular stop on our trips between Missouri and New Mexico.
