We’re adventurous, and getting here from I-22 was an adventure. Narrow, steep hilly winding streets through run-down neighborhoods. Street address and GPS don’t match. Availability was everything on our way from “here to there”, and camp host Robert answered texts promptly for a same-day reservation. The area is tranquil: shady trees and a creek in the back. Gravel area to park on. Pet friendly. Water supplied through garden hoses dragged across the roadway. Supposed WIFi but our devises didn’t detect it. Campground met our needs for one night without prior reservation, but $30 is a bit steep for what it is.

Right off Natchez Trace Parkway betw mile markers 251 & 252, 8 mi from Tupelo, one hour to Oxford. Good Sam and AAA get 10% off. Water, sewer, electric all good. Had good AT&T and Sprint coverage. Swimming pool was open. We didn’t find the shower or WCs listed in amenities, but we didn’t ask either. Cash or check only; no credit cards.

Pros: easy drive to downtown Memphis, quiet, shady, uncrowded lots, big central grassy area with playground. Archeological site and museum open by appointment.
Cons: Bathouse in sorry state. Worse on men’s side than the women’s. Cleaning, whenever. The camp office is closed on weekends when traffic is busiest—go figure. And the smell of sewage from the neighboring sewage treatment plant after it rains!! Really bad.
We’d stay another time solely due to location and price.

If you come here, be sure to set your GPS at the 725 Lucy Bryston St address (true location) rather than either of the Washington St addresses in the email confirmation. The Washington St address will lead to the Casino, down an impossibly steep hill with hardly any room to turn around. The phone number on the email goes nowhere either.

The staff on duty was of the "it's not my job" type. The washroom area (showers, WCs) is closed but the laundry is open 8am-4pm. No WiFi, but cable available.
Each site (thankfully) has electric, water and sewer. There is no dumpster for trash bags, just some trash receptacles dotted around the park (see photo below).
The positive points are the location near Vicksburg, cleanliness, and low price.

Absolutely loved this middle-of-nowhere municipal campground. Spacious back-in site. Sites with electric are on the St Louis River, providing a beautiful, peaceful view to wake up to lots of privacy. Access to (shallow) river from campground. Well-kept and clean by current camp hosts. Hot shower with good water pressure.
No water or dump on site. Closest dump station is in Proctor, outside Duluth, about an hour away.

Only downside first: the sewer hook up is on the passenger side. Water and electric, on driver side, are very far apart. Our water hose & electric cable we’re pulled out to max to be able to reach the sewer with 2 sewer hoses linked together. Be prepared!
Our experience based one one night transit stay. We dropped out tow loaded with vehicle in a grassy field per helpful suggestion from reception staff, so we were able to unhook and back in to our site with ease. Our site was next to boathouse, very clean and well-maintained. Loved the campground, would stay again.
