There's traffic from the jeep tours even during the week, but the noise didn't really bother me. Mainly it just dictated the times I chose to walk my dog. Lots of coyotes in the area and we had one watching us a few times, so I was more comfortable sticking to the road than walking around the "bush" on either side. There are fairly deep ditches either side of the road so all in all - it's a very safe area but with all the vehicle traffic and the wildlife just be alert and aware if you're walking a dog. Tons of space up here and lots of really nice pre-built fire rings. The vast majority of campers I saw were clean, courteous and quiet.

Sunsets up here are like nothing you've ever seen. So gorgeous.

I came up the road with a truck and a 28 foot trailer. Lots of big rigs around. Bumpy for sure but if you take it slow you can probably get just about anything up here. Not too sure what it's like after the road forks to Loy Butte - I didn't venture up that way.

This KOA does have some nice back-in sites near some really cool rock formations. I stayed in a pull-through where sites are on top of each other - literally. The sites are on a hill and my neighbors were just a couple of feet above me. But I only stayed for one night and it wasn't a big deal. The view was down the hill out over the valley and this KOA has a really good angle on the surrounding landscape.

Also, a huge plus - there are miles of walking and biking trails that back right up to the campground, so you don't even have to drive anywhere to go exploring. Very cool trails for me and my dog! Signage isn't always great but you're in a pretty open area so it would be hard to get lost.

Apart from the close sites, my main complaint about this campground was actually the water. I could hardly drink it, it was so soft. If you've never had very soft water, it tastes a bit salty, which meant that even coffee was undrinkable. I ran the water through my Berkey and still had a hard time with it. No big deal for one day but if I were staying for longer I'd bring water with me.

Great park! Decent cell signal for working, and the train comes through twice a day (oftentimes more than 1 train) right through the park. Right by a trolley stop for great access to downtown. Sites are close together but when I was there in the fall they had RVs pretty well spread out.

Very clean and well-kept. Somewhat strict rules about where your dog can potty but I understand that not everyone participates in common courtesy with picking up after dogs, not letting them pee all over others' campsites, etc. Sites are close together but very tidy and the park is cute. The lady who checked me in wasn't overly friendly but that wasn't a big deal. Cell service was great and there was an awesome park RIGHT across the street perfect for walking/running with a dog. There's also a really nice dog park maybe a mile down the main road.

This is one of the nicer RV parks I've stayed in. Really nice sites and fast internet available (though you do have to purchase it after a 1 week trial of their internet service). Lots of amenities: a huge laundry room, hot tub and pool, dog run, gym, little store, etc. The staff are all very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Lots of potlucks, bunko, etc. Lots of long-term residents during the winter especially. It's about a 30 minute drive to Cottonwood and 45 minutes to Sedona, so lots to do in the area. The monthly rate is one of the lowest I've found. Shuttle service to a casino if that's your scene, and it's right across the highway from the national monument (a very cool site). Overall recommend!

I stayed here for a night in October 2019 when I was trying to get to Durango but had some delays and needed a place to stay before nightfall. The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. They took the time to show me around the whole place and help me get into my site (which was actually not a difficult back-in spot). Decent wifi and excellent amenities: a little store, a professional grade dog wash, an off-leash pet area, a dog walk in the woods behind the campground, and a laundry room.

The owners were very visible and present - I saw them walking around the grounds quite a bit.

My only complaint is the cost, but that's standard for these parts, and all sites are full hook-up. It's just more than I like to pay, especially in the off-season.

Would definitely stay again! Pagosa Springs is such a cool little town and I'd love to come back.

Stayed here for about a week in July 2019. The bugs were bad near the lake so bring bug spray. Lots of really nice walking trails for me and my dog and lots of places to put in if you have a paddleboard or kayak. One night there was a crazy wind storm that snapped 4 trees in half in a cottonwood grove near my campsite, so just be aware that wind can get bad in this area.

Scenery is really nice and connectivity is great. Probably the best dump station I've been to yet - clean, easy access, potable water.

The main drawback to this park is the highway noise. You're just off I-25, the main north-south interstate highway, so there's always traffic going by and there's always noise. I couldn't hear it if I was in my camper with the fan on, but if road noise bothers you just be aware going in that it's an issue.

Otherwise, sites are well-spaced, and there are lots of sites here that have waterfront views due to the sheer number of ponds in this park. Really very pretty. Sites are all level and have a shaded picnic table too.

First, the good. Sites are well spaced and clean, and there are so many trees in this campground it's easy to feel like you don't have any neighbors. The area is very quiet and feels quite remote, even though you aren't that far from Black Hawk and Golden. Heard elk bugling in the mornings and walked my dog in peace and quiet.

The bad: no Verizon signal at all, which mattered to me because I work from the road and only have Verizon for now, so I had to "commute" about 30 minutes each way just to get a viable signal. This could well be a positive for anyone who really wants to get away and who doesn't have AT&T.

Also, not really negative but just a watch-out: my loop (Loop E) was a bit tricky to navigate with a truck and a 28-foot trailer. There are so many trees that it's something you've really got to watch for. My campsite was a pull-through but due to positioning of the trees I actually had to back out of it to leave, as there was no way my trailer was going to make it pulling out forward. (The pull-through sites in Loop E are U-shaped.) I wouldn't recommend a big rig in this loop, although the other loops aren't quite as treed and pretty, so I highly recommend Loop E if you have something 28 feet or shorter. I wouldn't have wanted to try anything much longer! But then again, I'm a newbie. :)

I wasn't quite prepared for this campground. I have a 3/4 ton diesel truck and a 28 foot travel trailer and I wouldn't want to come up with something much bigger. The road up is steep and windy and isn't for the faint of heart. The view from the top is just mind-blowing, and that's what you're paying for. Sites are just okay in terms of quality - no amenities at all in fall (in summer you can at least fill up with fresh water) and very un-level. None too big either, at least on the side of the road I was on (where you have the view). The view is really what you're paying for - and there's cell service up here! Wish I could have stayed longer but it was getting cold in mid-October.

The pros: Extremely clean and really lovely surroundings, especially at sunset/dusk. You can hear Taps played every night at 10:00 p.m. from Fort Carson. Pretty easy access to Colorado Springs and all that that entails. Sites seemed well-spaced throughout, and definitely were in my loop (The Meadows). Staff were friendly, which isn't always the case in our state parks.

The cons: Surprisingly bad Verizon signal considering how close you are to Colorado Springs. I had to use a booster to get viable internet for working. Also, while I loved hearing Taps played at night from the nearby Fort Carson, I didn't quite love the 6:25 a.m. wake-up call as much. Limited access for walking dogs - they say dogs are allowed on trails in this park, which is technically true, but the good hiking trails are humans only. Dogs are only allowed on the trails in the campground itself, not the cool hikes in the area. Though, you're not TOO far from Garden of the Gods, not to mention the amazing Bear Creek Dog Park.
