We stayed here for five nights as part of a gathering of T@B users (a small teardrop-style RV). We thought the campground was great. Sites are somewhat close together, so privacy is a bit lacking, but we were here for the group activities so that wasn’t an issue for us. The facilities are well-maintained. Bath houses are within a reasonable distance of most sites. WiFi is free but we could never get logged in. We had Verizon 3 bar (extended) so we just used it instead. A bonus was cable at our site, which was unexpected and not usually offered at the more rustic campgrounds we normally use. We bought a coax cable at the well-stocked camp store and took advantage. The only mild inconvenience was that the store/office closes at 5 pm and we sometimes didn’t get back in time to buy what we needed. There’s a gas station/store a mile or so away.

The campground location was 20-30 minutes from West Jefferson and Boone, and literally adjacent to the Parkway. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again.

We decided to try this campground because of its elevation of 5400 feet, which makes for coolness even in August. We arrived and quickly got to our site. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. We bought firewood and it was delivered to our site for us. No ice on site, so come prepared. The campground is a bit rustic, with plywood toilet and shower buildings, but the facilities were relatively clean. The sites are wooded with some having spectacular views. We were told that these sites often book a year in advance. Most sites are well separated and the woods offer shade and some privacy.

The Mountains to Sea Trail passes through the campground, and other hiking trails in the Balsam area of the Smokies are a short drive away. We most enjoyed the remoteness and the chance to just relax at the campground. There was occasional noise from someone’s generator but they have restrictions on using these after 7:00. Overall it was very quiet. There are no hookups but it accommodates smaller RVs. We saw a couple of 5th wheels as well.

We’ve already booked a site with a view for next year and look forward to returning.

We stayed here for two nights in mid-October while attending an event in the area. There are two campgrounds and we stayed in the Lake Campground. The park is generally in good shape, but the gravel roads and sites have eroded, leaving some gullies. Our fire pit was actually suspended in the air on its back side because of erosion, and the site itself was steep enough to make blocking and leveling our small trailer difficult. Big rigs should be aware that some sites are rather tight and could be hard to back into.

The restrooms were older but in good shape, and the heat on a cold rainy night was appreciated.. The wife said the ladies shower needed a good cleaning but the one on the men's side was OK. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We had no trouble with the power or water hookups. The dump station worked well. The access road to the park is fairly long, so stock up on what you need before arriving.

There's a number of hiking trails in the park, and Spartanburg isn't too far away. We'll likely stay here again.

We spent four nights here in early October. The location is perfect for exploring the southern section of the BSF. The campground is fairly new and well-maintained, with clean restrooms and campsites. There are no sewer hookups but there is a dump station. Another user was dumping his tanks without using a hose as we pulled up, making a mess around which we had to work.

The main drawback to staying here is that the area gets a large number of horse campers. The frequent generator usage, large tow vehicles, and early departures from the campground were a nuisance at times. There was also above-average noise from other campers, including loud talking/shouting and group activities late in the evening despite posted quiet hours. The noise levels detracted from an otherwise good stay. I wouldn't stay here again, except possibly in the tent-only loop at the start or end of a backpacking trip.

This is one of the older, CCC-constructed state parks. It could use some updating but is a good spot to camp if you are into a more rustic environment. The sites tend to be somewhat close together, and some are sloped enough to require serious leveling. There are amenities for children in season including programs, a mini golf course, and a playground along with a swimming pond. The Trading Post mostly sells souvenirs and snacks so don’t count on it for essentials. There is a Dollar General a few miles south on SC 107 that sells good firewood and groceries.

The bathhouses have screened openings and make for brisk showers in cooler weather. The electrical hookups are 30 amp, and the water pressure was good. While the park is a bit tired, we would stay here again.

This is a classic Civilian Conservation Corps state park located near the Little White House and the Pine Mountain Trail. Staff we met were very friendly and the facilities are in pretty good shape for their age. The restrooms and showers were clean. Budgets are a problem everywhere, but a few small maintenance items would go along way towards improving the park. Our site had some erosion, and during a heavy rain we had about 3 inches of standing water in our site which took the better part of the night to drain off. However, this wouldn’t keep me from going back. We enjoyed visiting Warm Springs and a nearby winery.

We spent three nights here in early October. The campground was pretty full when we arrived on a Saturday but was rather empty the next two nights. The sites were in good condition with clean, well-maintained restrooms nearby. The only showers are located in the nearby camp store, and operate on quarters ($1.50 for four minutes). The store itself sells mostly t-shirts and souvenirs, so don't rely on it for essentials. There are no hookups available, but there is a dump station at the entrance to the campground.

In addition to touring the cave system, there are several hiking trails in the area and river access for canoeing and fishing within a short drive. A former railroad grade serves as the basis for a rail-trail that would make an excellent bicycle trip. It's a great place to spend a few days.

We camped in our T@B teardrop trailer and have stayed here on three past occasions as tent campers. The campground is spacious with four camping loops. Loop A is for RVs, Loop B for vans and pop ups, and loops C and D are tent only. There are showers in loops B and C. Like most National Park facilities it is underfunded and has some deferred maintenance but nothing that detracts from a stay. Hiking trails start at the campground, and it is only a few miles to the mountain bike mecca of Brevard. During the day there was some motorcycle noise from the Blue Ridge Parkway but none at night. It was pleasantly cool at 5000 feet and we had the windows open. There are no hookups but there is a dump station at the entrance.

Recommended for those who want a quieter, old-style camping experience.

We stayed over Christmas while visiting relatives in nearby Deltona. The campground was one of the best state park facilities we have experienced. Sites are very spaced out with plenty of vegetation for privacy. Restrooms were kept very clean. The spring was beautiful and we saw more than 40 manatees one morning. Canoe and kayak rental is available, and a paved greenway is adjacent to the park for walking or biking. We look forward to returning.
