This campground was the nicest campground of our two week trip and probably the nicest campground we have ever stayed at. It was well laid out the grounds were very clean. The only drawback for some might be the lack of showers. Although this is about an hour drive from the main part of Acadia this part of the park is very less busy and relaxing.

We arrived to around 6pm to find most sites open. The campground was quite and we had part of it to ourselves. The facilities could use some cleaning and maintenance.

We stayed here due to it being close to a family wedding. This is not our type of camping with no separation between sites, large campground with many people and high cost. It served the purpose.

This was the best campsite of our two week trip. We planned to stay at Red Rock but it was not open yet, so the Visitor Center suggested this campground and we are happy they did. The campground was about six miles down a well maintained gravel road next to a reservoir. The campground was technically not open for the season since the water was not turned on yet but the Visitor Center stated if that was okay we were welcome to stay there. There was about 10 other campers in the campground. Our site, site 10 was very large and had good views.
We went on a hike from the campground which had outstanding views.

Wow the views were great here. The campground was well laid out with privacy and many had full hook up. This was the cleanest facilities we ever saw in a park. Many hiking options in the area. Grosvenor Arch is very nice since you can hike right up to the base of it.

This campground is a short distance from the east entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. At the campground entrance there is water and dump station. As you would expect the campground is hilly and had many large rocks to maneuver around while parking in your campsite. The views were great. The pit toilets were clean.
While we were here we drove the Trail Ridge Road, which connects the west and east sides of the park and is reported as the highest paved road in the US. The views were outstanding. We found the west side to be less busy.
Estes Park has a nice dog park, which was about a 15 minute drive from our campsite.

This is a very nice area to camp in. There are many campgrounds in the area connected by a paved bike path including near by towns. There is a dump station and water across the road at Crystal campground. Our camp site was on the lake. There is a nice path around the lake. There are many good hiking trails in the area as well. Our site was a double site that was huge. There are no hookups but you can run a generator for several hours during the day.

We stayed here based on the pictures and information from the web site. We were staying in Colorado Springs to visit a relative or we would not have stayed in a city. This was quite an experience for us since this is not the type of camping we are into. The sites are jam packed in, from three sides of our camper we were with in an arms reach from our neighbors. There was only enough space to park our camper on our site and had to park the truck in the parking lot. There are no camp fire rings, but each site has water, sewer and electric. The showers and bathrooms were clean as well as the grounds overall. A few times a week they sell food in the camp ground. While we were there they had BBQ one night, spaghetti dinner one night and pancake and sausage breakfast one morning (all you could eat for $4).
There is an awesome dog park about 10 minutes away named Bear Creek Dog park. The park is about 25 acres with woods, fields and a creek which were all fenced in.
Rudy's BBQ had great food and was only about 5 minutes away.

While researching for our trip we found that this campground was rated as having one of the best views in the state, so it was a must for me. The road from Pagosa Springs to the campground is 23 miles long and mostly gravel, which they were grading on our way in. The campground is small with about 14 sites, which were spread out. The views from our site was outstanding. There are pit toilets which were clean. The host was nice.
We hiked the Williams Creek Trail, which was also nice, but is also heavily used by horses as well.
It rained quite a bit while we were there so the roads were pretty much all mud on the way out. It took $20 at the spray and wash in Pagosa Springs to get the mud off our truck and camper, just so it was usable the rest of the week.

This is a very nice small quiet campground in the park. There is a small store restaurant a short distance from the entrance to the campground.
