Wow the views were great here. The campground was well laid out with privacy and many had full hook up. This was the cleanest facilities we ever saw in a park. Many hiking options in the area. Grosvenor Arch is very nice since you can hike right up to the base of it.

We arrived mid day to check on availability of sites. There were about six left when we arrived, which is normally not the case. This is unlike most national forest campgrounds, since it had water fill station, electric sites and the nicest bathroom/shower houses we have seen yet. I think the reason is this is one of the main entry/exit points for the boundary waters wilderness canoe area. Those arriving from time out in the wilderness had to rent a site or pay to use the facilities. When we arrived they stated the site was not cleaned yet, since the last campers just left and would send someone over. When they arrived to clean the site the fire pit was cleaned out and picnic table washed. The sites were immaculately kept. All roads in the campground were paved, so there was no dust. The sites had nice privacy. There were a lot of opportunities in the area for hiking and found our favorite one maintained for cross country skiing a few miles away. There was could hike with the dogs off leash and had the trails to ourselves. The kayaking in was great and had nice views. If you plan on venturing out you will need a free permit.
