I have stayed here in the past, and this stay was typical to others. I am on a month-long "working as I go" journey of northern New Mexico, and this was a good first stop. If you are into gambling, the casino will get you your fix. The diner in the casino has great food at a very reasonable price. The grocery store has most anything you will need. As for wifi/cellular connections, I had some hit and misses. The park's wifi - signal seems fairly strong, but I didn't connect as I try not to use public wifi. This time around, I had more consistent luck with the ATT signal than I did Verizon. Over the Labor Day weekend, the Verizon signal was horrible, but much improved after that. The last time I stayed here in July, the Verizon signal was much better. Streaming with ATT was seamless, Verizon had it's moments.

A highlight of the park experience - when you come into from the east, you get the experience of driving over the 400ft high dam. Yes, you drive directly on top, narrow two-lane road....quite the pucker factor - wow!

Spaces are tight, but had no issues with my 34 footer. The Marine is short hike down (steep), unless you are a wuss and drive down.

Cellular - Verizon 8dn/15 up, AT&T 18 dn, 10 up - pretty good

Some great hiking - one little gem is the caves - walk down the road that goes to the Pinon Loop. At the bottom of the first big ravine, look up in to the left and you will see two caves. The hike is a bit of a challenge, primitive trail, but worth it - about a 30 minute hike to get to the caves. Lots of Elk scat!

Would have written more, but it was so windy, didn't venture out much. The I-40 corridor is notorious for cross winds!

I've stayed here before, and nothing has changed. Always a nice place to stop. Hopefully next season they can get their dump station fixed, as that is the only negative. Good Verizon & ATT connection!

I am traveling the norther part of New Mexico over September, and added Sumner Lake on a lark. Turns out though, one of the best parks I've stayed at in New Mexico.

I stayed in Pecos-Site 10 the first 2 days, then decided to boondock down at the waters edge.

WiFi - 4+ bars for both ATT and Verizon - 20mb down, 18mb up

The only negative? - closest facilities are in Fort Sumner, 20 minute drive away.

Just stayed a couple of nights as part of my journey around northern New Mexico. I made plane last minute, and the next time I will alot more time at the park. Some great hiking trails around the lake. Cellular was 24 down/11 up for Verizon, and 13 down/5 up for AT&T. Also, the dump station works!!

For folks who unfortunately might need the services on Mayo Clinic, this park is about a 15 minute drive from the clinic. Very quiet setting (at least on a Tuesday/Wednesday in November. An easy walk to the beach where you can walk in both directions for miles.

Park is very nice. Looking forward to staying there again in the Spring. Definitely check the campground map, as there are sites that are better than others...

Electric and Water only. Dump on-site.

I stayed for 2 nights, one at the beginning of my GC adventure, and one at the end. 1/4 mile up the graded dirt road, on the left is a great spot for 4-5 RV's. Cellular (Verizon) coverage was awesome (28mb download), especially when comparing to the GC campgrounds, which are "just workable" (Verizon). The choppers end before dark, and don't start again until morning.
