I was looking for a place near Casper, WY and discovered this one. Paved road to the campground, small 2 lane or large 1 lane. Right on the river. Only a few sites have a "Room with a View" of the river, otherwise pretty much "Bush Camping" (staring at bushes)Popular fishing river, you can sit and watch the boats go by. no trees, campsites have a shaded area. Didn't see much else to do, but I'll let others seek those out. Costs are $10 (50% for having the "Old Geezer Pass" Golden age thing) Casper is about 30 min down the road.
I was here in a Truck Camper, pads a little narrow, but deep. Wide separation so neighbors can give you peace and quiet, quieter that is...
While I wouldn't make a point of coming here, it's much better than Camp Wally (Walmart)

I just came up for the day thru Moki Dugway just to see it. Turn at the top of Moki onto dirt road. fairly long road, heavily washboarded and wouldn't want to do it in the rain. Camping area, free and open is fairly large, plenty of room but a little rough in some parts. The views, of course, are the main attraction. I'd maybe stay 2 nights only but to each their own.

I was surprised on this one. Last year, and this, I was looking at the Sunset Volcano camping but not opened yet, so defaulted to this. Washboarded road is a little slow and dusty, most traffic and there is a lot drives like there's a fire causing the dust. Windy at times too.
Up the main road, various Rd numbers, it's a little limited and uneven among the trees which is nice. Bigger sites as you go further in, mile or so? to a "T". Left turn goes down a bit and then narrows. Right turn to the next "T" is probably the best area that I could see.
Recommend staying OFF the main road as far as possible, a lot of traffic, aka dust. Big trailered truck running up and down, did I mention dust?
At the 2nd "T" you can turn further west to another turn off or south, which I chose, and there are some big site up against the hill there. Also, very little traffic. There's apparently something going on along the NW routes as it's heavily trafficked. Shoot range or random ranges can be heard off in the distance and apparently the site I'm in used the hill for target practice.
I plan on staying here again when in this area.
Dump N Fills (drinking water) located in town, KOA $10+$5), Conoco etc. for a cost I'm sure.
These sites are better than the ORV Free BLM closer to town, apx 3 mi south of here, unless, of course, you have a buggy, heheh, fun...
Verizon Is spotty, from 1x throttled Jetpack to 3x 3G. Seems to go off/on, like in the morning 0700 hrs it's either none or 1x.. then a hour later pops to 3G 3x.. LIke an on/off switch..
Wind can be really blowing so check weather for a better feel for it.

Based upon the review below, after Crack in the Ground, I headed on up the same road. Flyer on the Crack's bulletin board also mentioned it. Dirt road is fine, cars can travel it. As noted below, coming in from the West to East (if you're in that directions) is a little nicer, but has a short semi-steep hill. Watch for overhead Branches. Campground was good, clean, dust free, red lava rock. Sites were somewhat level, but had overhanging branches on a few and in the loop, so either walk it or go slowly if that's a problem. I'm in a Truck camper 12.5' tall. Campsites should use a weed whacker, but otherwise nice and quiet. Just an FYI, there appears, by sound, to be a firing range near by. Also, coming into the turn for the campsite, you want to hang a Right to the "Campground Vista" area.. I got "Confusaled" on that one and ended up taking the road to the Ranger Lookout. Campground is just East of that.

I left the Lehman Caves looking for a spot, Cleve Creek - Google Maps had wrong location, discovered this after going down the dirt road following google (Reported and since corrected). Anyway great spot, Solar/Dish, minimal Internet, Vrzn.. Nice view of the pond, and upper road, apx 1/2 mile? about 4-5 sites. Whole area appears to cater to the horse's Crowd, but none there when I was there. Right off 50, 50ft or so, but minimal noise.
Nice place even for a "One night Stand"..
fun..

Really liked this one, it's a keeper and the price is right.
Websites, also listed as the 'Little Grand Canyon', are a little confusing on the number of sites available. Along the rim, both sides if you're daring, there are turnouts, some small, some bigger.
Road to the Right of the main rim intersection, Restroom, is a little rough so you might walk it first for the bigger rigs. Some sites have been blocked with rocks, not numbered but you can see the previous campfire rigs. Other site seem obvious.
Views, Yikes.. heheh, Really kewl.
Enjoying the views by sitting right on the rim are well worth it. Various trails/dirt roads wander around along the rim as shown in other pics. Nice for Mtn Biking along the rim.
Long well maintained dirt road, apx 40+mph is fine.
Dump N Fill station I used was the Huntington Res State Park just north on the highway at the reservoir. Again, confusing as there's a 'Day use' fee but no envelopes and no one around Oct 2017.
Over all, I think the Name, "Little Grand Canyon" fits the area better. Apparently, there is boondocking across to the SE of the view area which might be fun next time.
FYI: Camping along the rim road does have the noise/dust of the day users which can be a few.. You're right on the road to the view point.

Fees? Not really clear, but reported $6 but no envelopes so I considered it free.
Always wanted to stay around Walker Lake, used to pass it all the time growing up. There are several campgrounds, one just outside of Hawthorne before you start along the cliffs along the lake. Needed some clean up and windy. Further up several turn offs, but nothing really "Official". Sportsman Beach is towards the upper end of lake with 3 camping areas. On top, sheltered sites, 3 along the bluff. Continuing down to boat area, there open gravel area where you can camp. Further along the dirt road, you'll come to some sheltered pull through areas, some along the bluff, usually full and the rest on the other side with a view too.
Also, FYI, it can get windy/dusty at times, so plan accordingly.
Fees? while there might be fees, there weren't any envelopes so considered it free. Just looks neglected.

Arrived early Spring. No envelopes to fill out for pymts so assumed free.
Very nice camping area with several loops. Graveled and nicely spaced. Group site and RV, big boys site and smaller one. I stayed at both. Got snowed on, no big deal. Apparently hiking and Maybe ORV trails, check local guides.
Town of Ely near by, laundromat towards East end of town, very nice but a little $$$.
Like staying here, cost was good and Illipah Res was a little too windy.
Dry, no hookups no dump n fills.
I used the KOA for water as the dump n fill on the highway was closed, due to winter/early Spring at the Gas station facility. Use the Dump app to find it, forgot the name, like Maverick station.

Was here in APR 2017
Nice little off the road campground with something to do. Dirt road was not bad at all, a little rough at times, but ok. Sites could use a little touch up here and there, paint, weeds, trimming etc. doesn't look like it gets much attention, but still works ok. Sites are a little small but manageable, leveling is a little tricky. Hike to point is short and sweet, not bad at all. Petro's are ok, a little hard to distinguish, but so is Graffiti which I call these the original Graffiti artists.
Hike up to the top of the hill was nice, terrific views both sides of hill. A lot of day use and one nighters.
Had a Snow Dusting in APR when there. No big deal, just a dusting.

Nice, a little out of the way, but clean. BLM land, dry with shade at the top ones, limited sizes on the ones in gully. Careful, sites are smaller below, might walk them first if in a Big rig. Top Pull Through sites should be fine. Nice view and the creek running in the gully. I didn't go up the forest road past the campground so no idea what's up there.
Watch your Nav as Google had it wrong, had if off of Hwy 50, not correct, reported and believed changed.
