Ratings Summary
I was surprised on this one. Last year, and this, I was looking at the Sunset Volcano camping but not opened yet, so defaulted to this. Washboarded road is a little slow and dusty, most traffic and there is a lot drives like there's a fire causing the dust. Windy at times too.
Up the main road, various Rd numbers, it's a little limited and uneven among the trees which is nice. Bigger sites as you go further in, mile or so? to a "T". Left turn goes down a bit and then narrows. Right turn to the next "T" is probably the best area that I could see.
Recommend staying OFF the main road as far as possible, a lot of traffic, aka dust. Big trailered truck running up and down, did I mention dust?
At the 2nd "T" you can turn further west to another turn off or south, which I chose, and there are some big site up against the hill there. Also, very little traffic. There's apparently something going on along the NW routes as it's heavily trafficked. Shoot range or random ranges can be heard off in the distance and apparently the site I'm in used the hill for target practice.
I plan on staying here again when in this area.
Dump N Fills (drinking water) located in town, KOA $10+$5), Conoco etc. for a cost I'm sure.
These sites are better than the ORV Free BLM closer to town, apx 3 mi south of here, unless, of course, you have a buggy, heheh, fun...
Verizon Is spotty, from 1x throttled Jetpack to 3x 3G. Seems to go off/on, like in the morning 0700 hrs it's either none or 1x.. then a hour later pops to 3G 3x.. LIke an on/off switch..
Wind can be really blowing so check weather for a better feel for it.

July 2020, hot, needed a place to stay at some altitude with shade. This fit the bill for that. Good location for visiting Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, and the various pueblo/cliff dwelling ruins. Flagstaff close with all amenities. Cell signal went from LTE to zero and back in seconds, with the phone in the exact same spot the whole time.

This place is busy, constantly. Being so close to Flagstaff and the road to get up to Lockett Meadow the traffic does not stop. Lots of dust. I arrived 2pm on a Friday, all campsites at Lockett Meadow were taken, as well, nearly all the dispersed spots along the road were already taken. I won't be back, simply way too many people.
