As I was forewarned of the first 100+ feet, the incline is challenging. No joke. Know your vehicle's true capabilities as it's loaded for this uphill slog. I pulled my 6,400 lb 27' Lance 2285 up with my 3.5zl Max Tow 2017 F-150 in low range 4 wheel drive. I chose a bad line to miss the larger hole and crept up the grade with the trailer in Tow. Made it up without issues. Be forwarded, and if you feel it's too much, don't attempt it.

We chose one of the pullthru sites on the second lift. I didn't have to level the axles. I just parked and lowered the tongue. Minor traffic noise because otherwise it's silent. There were 4 others camping here: truck camper, class B and C, a schoolie and a car camper.

We needed a quick overnigh camp spot after a day on the Trace. We hoped for a spot at Jeff Busby CG but it was full. The gracious hostess at Stinkin Jim's Horse Camp met us and directed us to the easiest setup spot next to the main pavilion. Nothing fancy which is our style but she put us in with water and 30A electric. We enjoyed the sounds spring peepers, our first this year, sitting by our firepit and stared at the stars! She said the place fills up on weekends with riders and lots of horses to enjoy the many trails of Tombigsbee National Forest. Expect horse related stuff around as its the nature of a horse camp. Riders come to ride and enjoy the onsite and NF trails. Both bathrooms and showers were cean and well kept. I haven't ridden in over 50 years but I'd love to give it a shot. I'm sure it'd be great!

Arrived at 1pm and plenty of FCFS sites to choose from. The hostess came out to help us and her suggestion was the best choice.

We live 25 minutes from the Spruce Run Recreation Area. When we find we want to enjoy the reservoir's atmosphere, we try to grab a waterfront site. Dry Camping only with onsite dump station and fresh water. We don't use the bathroom facilities and cannot comment about them. It's close to the historic town of Clinton, various shopping and restaurants to meet your needs.

We get the senior pass and are NJ residents, therefore the $18. We camped during the week when crowds were down. Sites aren't extremely level but I've managed to level our TT each time. Shade is plentiful if you need it. Site 7 gave enough sunlight to keep our batteries charged throughout our 4 day stay. We camped in our 27' TT in June and mid October (#15) and enjoyed the summer heat (90s) with breezes and temperatures approaching the mid 30's with wind, sun, and gorgeous moonlight over the reservoir.

We'll be here every year. Planning to bring family and grab some adjacent campsites for the experience with the grandchildren.

We were in a 22' trailer and had had one hectik (fridge broke down, stolen campsite, and and relatives canceled visit) very hot week in July. By Sunday night when we arrived we needed some down time and the Manor Area campground gave us just that. We were glad to find it wasn't too far off the road. The gate was unoccupied so we made the loop to check the available sites which were plentiful. We chose site 10 that had electric which we paid for at the iron ranger. MD makes their Senior Pass available to non residencents that cut the cost in half. 2 days please (sun/mon)! #10 is a long back in nestled in the trees. Easy back in site with or 27' TT and our F150.

We didn't find the noise from nearby US15 bothersome. We rarely noted any low rumbling notes from the occasional heavy trucks, only hearing the occasional muffled singing tire sounds.

The grounds were well kept by the camp host. She stopped by and chatted about the nature of the area. She was knowledgeable about the subject and trained others in nature programs. This, as I recall, was their second year hosting at the Manor Area.

There's quite a bit of history here. Iron mining and pig iron production support the Rev war. Camp David is nearby too. Trails to walk and a few mile drive to the larger camping area where more amenities are available. We're self contained and didn't need nor want too much after the week we had and this place fit the bill perfectly!

We pulled into Hastings USNF CG later in the afternoon without reservations 7/16/2020. Many reserved/unoccupied with many walk up sites available. We chose #26 with plenty of room and good solar. 3 days for $30 w senior pas. Evens Brook flowing behind a low berm at the back of the site. It was a convenient place to sit and soak you feet in the hot daytime temperatures. No Verizon coverage and I didn't feel the urge to set up the booster. Many hiking trails and sights are nearby to see on short drives. We chose to drive up to the Mt. Washington summit via the Auto Road (toll) one clear afternoon. Clear days are a rarity up there.

Hastings is the first of 4 campgrounds in the boarder area that spans the USNF boarder between ME/NH. A drive down the dirt Wild River Rd for about 7 miles ends at Wild USNF CG just over the NH boarder, a great tenting campground. The road roughly follows the Wild River that flows over glacial rock/til with many pull offs so one can enjoy the river from the gravel bars. Daytime was hot when we were there and many family groups were enjoying the river during the time of SARS CoV2 pandemic. If one drives Rt 113 there are 2 other USNF CGs, again just over the ME boarder: Basin and Cold River. Not too far away is Emerald Pool nature preserve, yet another nice place to visit.

Needed a 1 night stop while traveling through Texas. This was a great stop. There was electric& water hook ups and a dump station in a lot behind the CofC building. There are 5 sites, while there were 4 campers. large for all size campers, easy access to park, all pull through. Level Black top parking lot, level easy to set up. Quiet, only heard morning doves. Clean, well lit, dumpster all you need to do is register at office. We got there at night so signed in when they opened. The folks in the office were friendly and helpful. We did take out at a local place, food was good. We were off the main strip in town, lots of businesses to access. The CofC has a an awesome war memorial near the campers, worth to view. If we had time would had stayed more time to explore the area. Definitely one to keep on our campsite list.
