Confirmed by 9 users | Last reported on April 05, 2024Burro Creek is a nice BLM campground on 93 South between Las Vegas and Phoenix. With our America the Beautiful pass the rate is $7/night so that was a bonus. The setting was beautiful by the creek which actually had quite a bit of water and the natural landscaping was lush. It was also very quiet with no road noise. There are some things to know before you go. Burro Creek Campground Rd. meets AZ 93 TWICE, take the entrance on the SOUTH side of the bridge or you will end up on a dirt road on the wrong side of the creek. The correct road is an 8% grade going down to the creek and there are no guardrails. The road inside the campground was narrow with tight turns so it is not big rig friendly. Many of the sites were too short and narrow for our truck and trailer but if you're tenting it's perfect. There are some pull through sites which we took. The sites were fairly level however. We had NO internet or cell service with Verizon and even after leaving had no service along AZ93 for several miles, it is very remote. The water at the dump station was off for the season so we were unable to flush our black tank or even rinse the area after we got done. We would stay here again even with these limitations.

Really beautiful setting for dry camping with some amenities. There is access to potable water at the dump station, which was very clean. Several trash dumpsters throughout the campground, which were emptied daily. There are also two bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks. All sites have fire pits with grills and covered picnic tables.
Plenty of pull through spaces for big rigs. We backed our 34ft class A into site 7, just a stellar campsite. Very private with a water view.
It’s a short walk to the creek from all campsites. The water is so clean, you can see all the way to the bottom. There are several secluded beaches for picnicking and swimming. Plenty of hiking and rock hounding. So relaxing and quiet.
We saw cows grazing, soft shell turtles, blue herons nesting. There are fish in the creek if you hike far enough toward the bridge. Randy, the camp host is fantastic and runs a tight ship to ensure a peaceful environment; there were guests trying to use the campground as a racetrack for their four wheelers, and she was not having it. She was also extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and hiking paths in the area. We paid $7 per night because the $14 site fee is half price with America the Beautiful pass. An absolute steal even at full price.
No cell service on Verizon, but there’s so much to do, you don’t even need your phone. We hiked about two and a half miles up the hill toward the main road and got a signal to check in with family. It was so lovely, we extended our planned stay, and we didn’t want them to panic when they didn’t hear from us.
This campground is phenomenal. Easily one of the best we’ve ever visited. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to people who enjoy nature, rock hounding, and challenging hikes.

Great little campground about a mile off the highway. Sites are clean and well spaced. Fire ring and covered picnic table at each spot. Small hike down to creek. Creek is cool and a nice surprise in the middle of the desert. Will come back and stay for more than just an evening

Very nice Campground! The Creek and surrounding area are a great place to explore. 8 of 23 sites are reservable through Recreation.gov the other sites are first come first serve. No hook ups, 2 very clean Buildings with restrooms, each site has a covered picnic table. Dump and Water station for those that have sites, there a fee for those who do not. The campground is 1 mile off of 71, road is paved to entrance of the park. If you get here and the park is full, there is dispersed camping on the road in, close to the freeway, on both sides of the road, one side has a gate, but it is a 14-day area, some road noise but we stayed there one night without unhooking and drove down the next morning and got a nice camp site. No Verizon Signal at all, T-Mobile is good 20mbps down 15 up. The campground is very quiet!

Didn’t stay because we planned on the dump and water fill there.
Enjoyed the stay here with the nice trails along the river. We had a spacious site and fols respected quit time. No atv trails from here unless you get on the highway to 17 mile road which takes you to some great trails.
It’s a great alternative to Boondocking.

The park was easy to find. It is located just off of US 93. There is pavement all the way until you arrive at the park. Signage is adequate. Self check in was efficient and friendly (pay by cash or cheque written on a US account). The rules are fairly basic. Some parts of the interior roads are a little rough. You may need to go at a snails pace or you will shake you cupboards open.
Our site, 02, was a pull through that was plenty long enough for our Coach and Towed. There are no services at the site. There is a table with built in sun shade and a fire pit. The surface is dirt/sand and reasonably ;level.. Distancing is very good. Overall the park was pretty and well manicured.
We were not able to connect our Verizon wifi as there was zero signal. On occasion we could get one bar on our phone. We did not use the washrooms but we checked and found them clean. There is fresh water at the dump station and spigot spread throughout the park.
There is a pathway that runs along the creek towards the bridge. If Ghost towns interest you, Signal is about an hour away down Signal Road (about 9 miles north on 93) then about 20 miles in on a fairly decent dirt road. I suggest you do not attempt without a high clearance 4X4.
There are no services near by. The closest gasoline/convience store is in Wikieup.
We paid $14.00 CASH per night and we feel we received very good value. We will be back if in the area again.

The road in is steep and windy, so just go slow. Once in the park, the outer loop is very washed out and several trees/shrubs are overgrown into the road and sites, so take it very slow, especially if you’re towing anything. Our site (7) was in a great location with an unobstructed view of the canyon, but it had a deep washout in the middle of it and shrubs growing into the entry making it tight. My wife literally held back the thorny limbs so I could back in without scratching our trailer. It said pull-through, but not really doable with anything but a small rig. Once in the spot, it was far from level so used all our blocks (20) to get the passenger side up to level. Then almost fully extended the tongue Jack to bring the nose up. We did enjoy a walk down to and along the creek and the beautiful night sky, but cut our stay short due to incoming rain. Since the washout was right under our stabilizers and the rest of the loop was badly damaged due to rains, we chose not to risk it and moved on up the road for the other two nights we had reserved. If you have a small rig and the weather looks good, it’s a nice stop. If there was a little work done to the flora and roads/sites, it would be really nice. Just needs some TLC.
