We had fun exploring the area one night and came across Centennial Square. There were people of all ages enjoying the weather, fountain and dining out!

This is a nice area, but the pier costs money to go on. It's mostly filled with fishermen. I would only go on it if you want to get slightly different pictures or to fish. The beach around the pier is beautiful.

This is the perfect place to spend a sunny Florida Sunday afternoon strolling through the quaint streets of downtown Stuart. There are plenty of restaurants to chose from, whether you're looking for family friendly or romantic and intimate. After dinner you will definately want to stop for an ice cream or piece of home-made fudge at one of the the shops offering delectable treats! The many boutiques offer something for everyone. Bring a chair and set-up by the river while listening to bands playing or stroll on the pier to watch the activities

Kiva Beach
Park at Visitor Center Parking Lot
South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

Kiva Beach
Featuring fantastic views of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Tallac, Kiva Beach is a hidden jewel. It can be a little difficult to find due to a lack of signs once you park, but it is well worth the effort. Enjoy free parking and a Visitor’s Center with restrooms and picnic tables, and then take a pleasant walk down a forest trail to the beach. The trail features marked signs that teach a little about the vegetation and local history. The large beach sits at the mouth of Taylor Creek. Swimming is enjoyable, but expect it to be a little rocky in some spots until you get farther from the shore. Kiva Beach is one of the few South Lake Tahoe beaches that allows dogs in certain areas. It might be less crowded then other Lake Tahoe beaches which makes for a pleasant afternoon.
Kiva Beach, as well as several other nearby beaches, are accessible by a nice paved trail that winds through the national forest between the shoreline and Highway 89 (Emerald Bay Road). You can walk, run, or rent a bike to follow the tree-lined trail to your favorite beach and take a dip and enjoy a nice picnic.
Location: Kiva Beach is located approximately 3.5 miles north of the “Y” (the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 89) in South Lake Tahoe.

C.F. McGlashan built the original tower in 1895 and used it to display Donner Party relics and his famous butterfly collection. It was also the site of an overnight stop of the Olympic Torch Relay during the winter of 1960.

The Stone takes only a few minutes to see and is free. From the memorial you have an excellent aerial panorama of Old Downtown Truckee.

This is a huge granite boulder perched on top of an enormous granite rock. The boulder is about 6ft in diameter. At one time, you could push it with 1 finger and it would rock back and forth. It has been cemented in place, probably for safety reasons. It perches upon a granite boulder that must be 15-18ft high. You need stairs to climb up to the top. Not sure if it a glacial erratic or an indian ceremonial spot. Its been there a very long time. Worth a 5 minute visit if you are in Truckee. It's on Kaiser avenue up High st from downtown to the north. its next to a large quonset hut style building.

In 1961, an interpretive kiosk was placed at this scenic overlook that gives the names, location and elevation of surrounding mountain peaks and points of interest. As you continue north along this scenic route, you'll reach the highest summit pass in the Lake Tahoe region at 8,911 feet that's open year-round.

Mt. Rose Highway travels from Incline Village, NV located at Lake Tahoe to Reno, NV. Coming from Incline Village, the scenic overlook is 3.3 miles on the right. Be sure and stop by the Mark Twain Cultural Center in Incline Village and relive Twain's western experience as portrayed in Roughing It by the Ghost of Mark Twain, McAvoy Layne.

I am an Incline resident. The beaches are maintained by our IVGID fees and taxes and are not for public use. Guests of the Hyatt can access if they purchase day passes ($12/person) Even local renters do not all have beach access. Try Sand Harbour.
