Difficult to find via GPS and only accessible from one direction due to the median, but so worth seeing. It closes annoyingly early considering it's designed to be viewed at night, but we managed to climb and do some stargazing before we got shooed out.
Always a fun photo op when we drive through Amarillo. If you bring paint, take your trash with you please.
Just a neat drive-by if you're in the area. Be respectful that people do actually here.
A hidden gem I'm glad I made the time for. The quiet and meditative peace is almost a tangible presence here. What we thought would be a quirky photo op ended up being a two-hour stop as we walked and contemplated. It's worth a stop if your trip has you feeling a little stressed out.
A terrifying drive with gorgeous views - its been over a decade since I was there last, but it was a mind-blowing experience.
Not a lot going on, but its an interesting place for photos.
The breakfast used to be much better than the current buffet - we'd always stop for omelets on our way out on Sunday mornings. Its a beautiful hotel, though, even if the restaurant is less than it used to be.
Just a heads up, the menu is completely different from what you'll be expecting if you're from Texas. When I visited, they had hot dogs and no burgers on the menu. Very odd, but the ice cream is as good as ever.
Definitely worth the hike out to the end of the pier, if you've paid to park and shop and go to the beach anyway.
The dog beach is a really fun place to spend an afternoon with the fur babies. There are rules, but most owners do let their dogs play off-leash if they know to behave themselves.
