Thank you city of Slaton! This is a nice, quiet stopover for people passing through Texas! Park was quiet and clean and felt very safe. Nice area to get our walk done and nice playground if you’re traveling with children.
I called and left a VM and they quickly responded with a text that they no longer take overnight guests.

Great spot for passing through Winslow. We went in to the information center and the nice lady gave us a map and good recommendations for things for us to walk and see. Night was quiet and uneventful. There were three other rvs who pulled in after us and plenty of room. The train does run behind the lot but NO horns blow so it’s just background noise… like a free sound machine .
Quiet, clean, well run park! This is our favorite overnight place along I40 in New Mexico!

Well worth the stay. Some of the best views of the park are at the visitors center at the top of the canyon. We recommend not parking close to the visitors center, but better to park in the lot above it and then walk down to it. There is a general store in the canyon and several campground loops (most with water and electric). Some primitive sites too. We enjoyed riding the bikes, and a couple of short hikes, but the bugs were aggressive in late August (seems they could keep up with us even as we road the bikes). The night sky was brightly filled with stars. We will stay here again, probably later in the fall or early spring and hopefully the biting flies and other bugs will be less active.
Great quick stop on our way to Colorado Springs. Grant in the office was very friendly and helpful. We camped at a site with electric and water (didn't need the sewer hookup). Campground was clean and well marked. Site was level. Not much road noise and a nice view of the mountains.
Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate WWII aviation. This museum has no traffic cones or ropes around the aircraft so you can get very close to them (but they ask guests not to touch the planes, and they have plenty of staff on the floor to answer questions). There is an additional tour of the restoration hangar to see the WestPac team in action. It took us about 2.5 hours to slowly make our way through both exhibit hangars.
