So glad we drove a little away from Mitchell, SD to check out this Fish & Wildlife managed campground. What a beautiful setting! Right on a lake, pelicans swimming & diving - awesome. We had a flat site on the lake side. There are 3 sites interior and even a pull through site for a bigger rig. Quiet & peaceful ❤️
A County Sheriff drove through in the early evening which gave me peace of mind. Good cell signal too. Pit toilet very clean.
No water, electricity or garbage. Pack out what you bring in & please pick up after your pets.
Perfect little spot to stop.

We visited Jackson on a Monday in October. Town was bustling. Visitor Center/Chamber of Commerce confirmed what I had read about street parking or parking in the public lots overnight - don’t do it. I wanted my husband to have a break & watch Monday night football so we opted for this location. It is right downtown just two blocks from Town Square.
Many workers utilize the cabins and there are a lot of people around. Noisy early in the morning.
Welcome Center across the parking lot has nice bathrooms and water bottle filler.
Expensive for what it is but that’s the area. There is electric if you need it.

What a beautiful little campground. Large, level, concrete sites w/electric. Flush toilets & water. Easy access from I-80. As noted, last 1/2 mile into the campground is gravel but it is well maintained and no problem for any rig. Highly recommended. Closed 11/1/22 for the season. “See You in the Spring”

Matt at the front desk was wonderful. We just needed an overnight & this was perfect. Easy access from I-10. Best shower ever! Clean bathroom & laundry facilities. Dog area was well maintained. Noise was not an issue at all.

We arrived at Whitewater Canyon Preserve about an hour and a half before they close the gate for the evening. The staff person at the desk couldn’t have been nicer - explaining about the preserve and where we would camp. We had called in advance but found out there phones have been down. Thankfully there was room for us! Parking on asphalt, mostly level, phenomenal views. Spoke to a ranger about hiking the next day and got a great tip for the morning hike (we did the canyon loop 3.5 mike trail). I kept commenting on the hike about how well maintained and marked the trail was. So happy with our experience camping and enjoying this gem.
There is a Ranger/Manager on site (private residence) and the gate closes at 5:00 - we were given a code to the gate if we wanted to come & go after closing.
Zero cell . WiFi coverage. Maybe with Starlink which we don’t have. But it was so peaceful!
Flush toilets on site and potable water for filling bottles. No other services. We’ll suited to our Class B Camper Van. We had a great stay!

Super nice campground. The trees in this campground are so wonderful! Very clean. Level sites w/water & electric. Nice showers & bathrooms, sinks. The bath houses could use an upgrade but what they have is very nice. Friendly, helpful staff. They obviously take pride in their park. Cell / internet not great for us but we don’t have the best set up. Great for boaters on the Colorado River. We only stayed one night but would definitely count this as a win.

Traveling through the area on a weekday needing an overnight. This park has electricity & water at most sites, flush toilets & showers. Some sites are pull through and most are flat. Size of sites is acceptable. The registration was easy. The price per night has gone up. County run park adjacent w/walking trail & fishing. Surprised by the highway noise in the morning.

We needed an overnight on our trip along 94. This campground was great! $25 for large, paved sites including electricity, showers, dump & water fill. Cell coverage wasn’t great w/Verizon which was surprise b/c close to metro area. Only drawback according to husband is that it is 15-20 minutes from highway entrance/exit. It was safe & comfortable.

Large campsites, flush toilets, running sink water and spigots all around.
Big beach on lake! Trails abound-visit the gravesite of Sam Own & his wife.
The camp hosts do a great job of keeping this place clean.
There is a dump station & water but there is a fee to use.
Nice RV park w/boat dock next door (fee to use) including a restaurant/bar - Pearls which was Excellent!
We had campers next to us that were not very considerate but other than that it was a great stay. Love the lake views.

We were traveling West to Arches NP and needed a nice overnight. The main roads are newly graveled and very well maintained, however maintenance is over until Spring - no plowing I would guess. Stayed in Site 1 which was sandy but drained well (we had overnight rain). Quiet & peaceful. Three bars of Verizon service. Easy access from highway. All around excellent.
