You are packed in a little tightly but I still feel like I have some room since the park was not full when we visited. I'm sure its pretty tight feeling when its full. There are plenty of mature trees around to provide some shade, even a lemon tree with ripe fruit right next to us. There is a swimming beach and a boat launch as well as a dog friendly beach for pups! There are several hiking trails to enjoy the desert landscape. The views from the beach are stunning particularly at sunset.
The dump is right after you pull in to register and has access both coming and going. The park also has limited recycling which is always a bonus. Cell signal is good but not great. With our booster it was perfect but still usable without it. Absolutely NO local station on the antenna so bring movies or satellite if you like to watch TV at night. The road coming in is quite curvy the entire way. The sites are all easy to access but not entirely level which is my only complaint about this place. Each site has water and 30amp electric.
PROS:
Great location
Beautiful Scenery
You can park on the gravel next to your site, no crazy "stay on the concrete" rules here!
Very dog-friendly
Super friendly park staff
Hiking right in the campground
Easy dump station that was CLEAN!
Great landscaping
CONS:
Sites are not level
Street lights are on until 10, wish they were not on at all
No on-site laundry
Water is a little funky
A little pricey

Very nice, trees for shade, water, electric, dump station. They have both a beach for people and a designated beach for dogs! There is also a boat launch and fishing from shore, very quiet and restful location.

Who knew this oasis even existed? We were able to snag a space last minute by reserving online. On the weekends, there is a minimum two night stay. The rangers were friendly and the campground has nice river access.
Each space has electrical and water hookups, a table and firepit. There is a single dump station, easy to access on the way out.
Cons
Need to use blocks to level - not too bad but necessary
Close to your neighbors
Plenty of noise
Seemed like the place to bring too many dogs that bark
Pros
Nice little swimming beach with covered picnic tables
Boat ramp - I guess this could also be a con, but the people watching was great
Hiking trails
Tucked away from the road

I loved it here! They have a dedicated dog beach so Q-dog was in heaven. I also loved Site #1. Decided to come here after reading Wandertopia's review about the dog beach and believe me if your dog likes the water or swimming don't miss it.

Park is in the process of expanding to the next cove to the north as well. This will be a much larger park with a completion date scheduled for mid 2018. I believe the name of the park will remain Cattail Cove SP. They do have a dump station, but the sites do no have sewer, Water and 30 amp electric only.

This park was nicely kept and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. The sites were small but each site had a tree and picnic table. Our site was mostly shaded with surrounding trees. Electric and water hook ups only with easy access to the dumping station in both arrival and departure. The shower house and bathrooms were clean. The park has a small amphitheater and cactus garden, a white sand beach with picnic area coverings, a small beach for dogs, and a boat ramp. It was a weekend and there were no sounds of power boats like the state park on the other side of town, which can get very noisy. It was the perfect place for us to recharge and refresh ourselves after a few weeks of boondocking.

While you have more room here than in most commercial campgrounds, the sites weren't nearly as spacious as what we've encountered in other Arizona state parks and state parks in general. While side to side space wasn't terrible, because the entire campground is very small, it just felt cramped. The view in every direction seemed to be of cars and campers. It wasn't the kind of place that we wanted to sit outside and relax. On the other hand, it was certainly more spacious than any of the commercial 'parking lot' campgrounds in town.
The park is located about 15 to 20 minutes down the road from the central part of Lake Havasu City. It's not a bad drive, but it is a drive, so anytime we needed supplies or wanted to go out, we would have to jump in the car. On the other hand, the campground is located right on the lake, so if you want to get out on the water, the location is great. It really just depends what you're looking for.
While this wasn't a bad campground, we checked out Lake Havasu State Park up the street and found it much more to our liking. The sites there are much larger, it feels more open, and the location of the campground is better. Our particular spot at Cattail Cove was unlevel, backed up to the bathrooms and trash cans, and didn't have as many trees as other sites had, all of which made things even more unpleasant. The overall feel of the campground was just very compact, crowded, and busy. Unlike most state parks we've stayed at, we really had no desire to sit outside because we would just be looking at other people's RVs and cars. They are, apparently, expanding the park, so hopefully they'll be able to space people out a bit better in the future. In the meantime, while we would return, it wouldn't be our first choice in the area.

The park may not be a top destination in itself, but it is a great choice in western Arizona. There are some hiking trails accessible directly from the campground, and the surrounding area has many OHV trails if that's your thing. The campground is extremely clean and well-maintained. I particularly liked the arboretum of trees planted throughout the campground, most with signs containing the tree names, which added greenery and shade to the otherwise drab surface. Because this part of Arizona has very little shrubbery, there is really no privacy between sites, but the gravel surfaces were immaculately maintained. The sites were slightly offset to create a little extra separation but privacy was definitely not great. Our sites were pretty level (1 block needed) and pavement and utilities were in very good condition. Being able to see down to the Colorado, and to walk along the small man-made beach, was a unique feature in this desert environment. The boat launch area was popular with kayakers during our visit.
The bathhouses were also immaculate, with very nice showers equipped with normal household controls. It was the first time in weeks that we had temperature control and no timer on the showers, which seemed like a treat. We liked the extra touches that the park staff and hosts offered, including a book exchange and a free DVD lending library. We didn't use the fish cleaning stations but they were another thoughtful convenience. Hosts and staff were friendly. Lake Havasu City is about 10 minutes away and has all the usual stores (WalMart, Home Depot, multiple large grocery stores).
Our cell service on AT&T was only 2 bars but speeds were awesome. AT&T speeds on our MyFi: Download 37.7 Mbps Upload 8.57 Mbps

We came for one night and stayed the maximum 2 weeks. We usually boon dock. It is heavily booked and so we moved sites frequently in order to stay. We have booked for next year. There is a high quality boat ramp, a sand beach, and a private beach and large run for dogs. There are nice hiking trails and ATV trails. The staff and the camp host are amazing. We also stayed at River Island down the road, which was nice, but not in the same class. We were there for xmas and had an amazing pot luck dinner arranged by camp hosts. We discovered new friends. Weather could have been warmer (December / January 2019). There is easy access to Havesu and Parker for shopping. It is immaculately clean. I understand this campground will be expanding onto a higher tier. Cell phone coverage is adequate.
