Ok, it’s not the Ritz, but it’s quiet and peaceful and free!
There were 3 single campers with small tents, 1 big RV, 2 small campers.
They have fire rings and picnic tables but you have to walk to them. You can’t take vehicles on the grass. So we all were camping in the grassy area next to the parking lot and it worked just fine.
My dog enjoyed the company of the dog in the camper next to us.
After a walk around most of the lake there, we sat and watched the swallows catching bugs on the water and in the air. Must have been a hundred!
There is a nice vault toilet. And the cows next door came to visit us this morning.
I have US Cellular and had 2 bars.
In all it’s a peaceful pretty camping area!

Don’t go to the campground! Go to the next road. It’s tiny washboard bumps for a little way but go slow, it’ll be fine. Endless roads going all over the place. We saw many across from the campground. Then we saw a vault toilet out in the middle of no where and headed to it. We could tell we were close to the water so we followed little roads until we were on the beach!
Then we heard voices and I walked down to the water and found 1/2 more RV’s and tents scattered down the shore!!
It was a cloudy evening so not an amazing sunset. But the night sky was wonderful.
So this morning I walked the 100 yards to the vault toilet. It’s not stinky but got mopped with a muddy mop. TP has recently been filled.
It’s a great disbursed camping area. People have built many fire rings out of the stones found around the area. But wildfires kept us from building a fire. Beautiful evening sitting and watching Canada geese and sea gulls. 1 mule deer made its way out of the willows, but there are deer tracks all over.
My phone, US Cellular, was no service. Mike’s AT&T phone, he could make phone calls but couldn’t do anything else.

Cost is $2 a day but it’s free with your National Park Pass! Gates open 8 AM and close at 8 PM.

My only complaint was that there were no fire rings! No fires allowed, only propane. The train someone else complained about are not close. They didn’t both us at all.

Beautiful, mowed, tree covered sites with cement picnic table on a cement pad. All sites are pull they the grass. Vault toilets were very clean for vault toilets and inside was lit after dark!

So many birds singing to us all evening and all morning. Turkey called all evening and only once this morning and he showed himself before we left. We watched 2 deer grazing for a long time last night and saw them as we were leaving.

May have been my favorite campsite this trip. There was only 1 other person there and he was way down the road at the end.

Oct 7, 2022. We arrived at supper time and were the only ones in the whole park. We pulled in next to the twin ballparks. Surprisingly, although there are no forms in the self check-in box, all the electricity and water was still on. Bathroom light was on and flush toilets were clean.
The fee is now $15 but with electricity, that’s a bargain. There are picnic tables around and lots of toys if you have kids. No fire pits. Phones and iPad worked fine.
Might be a bit loud if there’s a little league game going on as the fields and bleachers are right outside our door. But we never heard a train!

The only complaint we could come up with was the no trees, which is hard to fix unless you build little shelters.
We had a site on the pond so it was beautiful! Great toys for kids, even extra blowup slides, etc.
Very dog friendly and I had so much fun meeting all the dogs I could!
This place is huge with a bath house at the swimming pool and another one at the other end with a laundromat. Very big, nice, clean showers!
With however many RV’s there are there, it is very quiet. The water fountain in the middle of the pond shuts off at 11:00 pm and comes on at 8:00 am. Those are also the quiet times.
The people in the office are so nice. So is Felix the white golden retriever office dog! And if you buy wood or ice, they golf cart it to your site.
We had all the phone connection you could ask for and they have guest WiFi.
I would definitely stay there again. Oh, we did not have a reservation and there were a couple empty sites overnight that I saw.
All around class campground like 2 miles off the interstate.

Very nice! Level ground, mowed grass with gravel pull-they spots. The shadiest were back in spots. Bathroom very nice and clean. If I had to dig for a complaint it would be that no one was at the office while we were there and I couldn’t find prices posted anywhere. We stopped by the office at 8:12 to see if we owed any more but office doesn’t open until 8:30, and closed at 6:00 which was 1/2 before we got there. Many pulled in after us. My other complaint would be that there was only one light bulb working in Women’s bathroom. Several fluorescent bulbs were not on. 2 normal light fixtures only had 1 out of 4 bulbs working.

Nice big sites, beautiful view in every direction, wonderful and necessary shade shelters, lots of green vegetation, and wonderful showers! The only draw back is that they don’t sell firewood or ice, even though the people at the park office said they get asked for it every day! So bring in plenty!

I hate to complain but it is noisy. But it keeps you from driving an hour off the interstate when you are headed somewhere! It’s an excellent place otherwise.
There are lots of lights thru out the campground, which is good. We have curtains so we’re fine.
We would stay again.

We arrived without calling ahead and got chewed out a bit by the guy on duty. But he had spaces empty and led us to our space and came back with the paperwork and then helped us with our toolbox that wouldn’t open. He’s a great guy.
The campground is huge! It’s so neat and clean and next to the woods. We loved our spot next to the woods. The fire ring is huge! The pads are level and cement set in a nice grassy spots.
Could only get one little bar on my cellphone so internet was slow.
We will put this on our favs list!

It is a nice small camp ground a few miles off the beaten path. All campsites have picnic table, fire ring, and most have bbq for charcoal and a huge trash can. And the camp sites sit under large old trees.
It’s right on the river but there’s a lot of vegetation between campground and river except the place to put your boat in.
There are a few small trees down, so lots of firewood if you want to cut your own.
The toilet is a flush, but not the cleanest building to walk into. The sink water smells bad.
We had no bars on our phone but did have when we were a 1/4 mile out of camp.
We had a flock of white birds fly up the river, and a great horned owl serenaded us most the night in a very nearby tree. The trees are huge and beautiful!
