It was hot the day we went so the mist from the waterfall felt wonderful. We only had a couple of hour to explore, and it didn't feel like enough time. We'll definitely plan a return trip next summer.
We scheduled a visit to the hotsprings for the day after our travel day. It was 90 degrees out the day we went, but it was still very enjoyable. We spent most of our time in the adult only area. It felt great to soak and relax.
We enjoyed our stay at this campground. There is no cell coverage, but they have fairly good wifi. The staff is friendly.
This KOA is well kept, clean and the staff is very friendly.
We toured Long House, Mug House and Step House. It was interesting to see the ancient community up close. We enjoyed our tours and the Ranger's insight! We stayed at the local KOA so the park entrance was only 8 miles away.
The campground is 8 miles from the freeway in either direction. We feel it was expensive, considering the amount of disrepair around the property. This is a place that makes a decent base camp, but it's in no way a 'Holiday Resort'. Our site had utility hookups on both sides.
We stayed at this campground for a couple nights, and considered leaving early. First off it's recently gone under new ownership and the guy seems pretty nice, so I imagine things will improve over time. The site we were originally booked for was a pull-through with full hookups. The site faced the back end of several dumpy houses, so my wife asked to relocate us. We ended up moving to the river side which didn't have septic. At sunset the sites were swarmed with literally hundreds of salmon flies. We made the best of it. We explored the town shops, and toured the historic ranch. I'm sure the place will improve, but in the current condition we wouldn't stay there again. The bathrooms didn't have working exhaust fans so if you go in to take a shower after someone took #2, it was unpleasant to say the least.
We enjoyed our stay! The staff was great. The locally made ice cream served at the evening social was amazing.
Guest service is great! Everyone had been very friendly and helpful. We camped on site #48 which is a nice site towards the back, and has a nice view. There is zero cell coverage, but WiFi has been consistent.
Mount Rainier is an absolutely beautiful place, with a lot of great hiking trails.
